In the immortal words of Michael Irvin, don’t lose the intensity.
Give to Wisconsin State Senate Democrats.
Order pizza for protesters here.
Solidarity rallies here (Does anyone know of an up-to-date link for solidarity rallies?)
General food/organization supply fund for Madison protesters here.
Let us know what’s going on in your area. I just learned there will be a solidarity rally here in Rochester next week so this stuff is spreading.
Update. Here’s a site where you can find solidarity rallies near you. (h/t Violet)
Violet
On the Solidarity rally page, all the dates are old except for two happening today. Is there an updated link? Another list of things happening tomorrow and on the weekend?
Violet
Okay, I tried to edit, but I just got a black screening page over this page, so no editing. But I just found this.

The edit function is broken right now.

In Ohio, I’ve heard a couple of reports about protesters “defecating” (love that word) in the hallways of the Statehouse. Does anyone have any reports that this is credible?
Southern Beale
I’m wondering if the protestors aren’t a little tired of pizza. Can’t we order them some Jersey Mike’s sub sandwiches or something?
In other news, people are finally waking up to the fact that the Tea Nuts don’t give a crap about budgets, it’s really all about power:
Um yeah. Duh.
Sentient Puddle
@Southern Beale: One of the sites on that Ian’s Facebook link, BadgerBites, lets you order food from other restaurants. So there’s variety.
That said, a friend in Madison mentioned to me that people love the hell out of Ian’s there, so I don’t know, pizza may still be a safe bet.
Fuck U III: The Duck Fucks Back
Well, I am stuck right now, but as a Federal Contractor, I might have some unpaid leave that I can use in a couple of weeks.

This looks like a good resource: Jobs with Justice. There is an RSS feed on the right side of the blog that has links to many state JWJ coalitions, so people might find something in their state. And here’s the local coalitions website.
Davis X. Machina
@debbie: They stole all the W’s off the keyboards, too.
Southern Beale
@Violet:
Jobs with Justice is a group I’m very familiar with. My old church worked with them on several campaigns. We had some local employers who liked to hire homeless or nearly homeless and treated them like shit. Jobs With Justice stood up for them and got some real change.

Someone really needs to come up with short, pithy, “Why Unions?” statements. Things like: weekends, 40 hour work weeks, maternity leave, vacation, etc., etc. All of those are direct results of unions and union pressure. Soundbite-y statements that catch people’s attention might help interest those who are neutral on unions.
Stephen1947
We’re having an “Uncut” action against Bank of America in Cambridge’s Central Square on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The idea is to point out that BoA took recovery money, made profits, offshored those profits, and then (a practice of last few decades) not only didn’t pay any taxes but filed for returns. It should be fun.
Southern Beale
We need some good music out of all this … “There’s something happening here … what it is ain’t exactly clear …”
Feudalism: Serf's Up
There needs to be more than Solidarity protests in New York state. Cuomo is trying to starve out NYSUT and CSEA with layoffs and funding cuts. He may not be as overt as Walker but he wants to bring the Unions to heel.
Zam
@Southern Beale: Yes they are tired of pizza, at least the ones I’ve been talking to.
Roger Moore
@debbie:
Sounds like another “rapes in the hallways of the Superdome” story to me.

I fear we may lose the battle (unless the Senate moves out of state for a year or so), but I’m confident we’ll win the war. Keep the pressure on, and recall Walker on Jan 1, 2012. If he loses his job, other Republicans will think twice about manipulating crises for power grabs.
Zam
@danimal: Well they don’t get paid if they are gone that long. Plus I fully expect the Senate to move on to non-budgetary issues in order to force them back. That being said this has motivated a lot of people, my roommates who most of the time are fairly apathetic about politics have gotten involved in this. I fully expect to see Wisconsin turn blue again in 2012, so long as those of us who are always involved in politics can keep up the energy required to keep the less active involved.
Poopyman
@Fuck U III: The Duck Fucks Back: Better check on that. Yesterday our COTR said that since we’re under contract work goes on. He and his office may be getting a little vacation, however.
Fuck U III: The Duck Fucks Back
Poopyman: Negatory. As support staff, the Duck gets fucked if there are no Feddies to support. My company circulated the YOYO memo today.
Mike in NC
@danimal:
Has any wingnut pundit predicted yet that Scott Walker will be a serious GOP presidential candidate in 2016?
Poopyman
@Fuck U III: The Duck Fucks Back: Bummer. But look at the bright side: at least it’s the right time of year to set up the garden for all of those staple crops you’ll need to put in this year.
Fuck U III: The Duck Fucks Back
Poopyman: And no shortage of fertalizer in the area, too.
Ah, well, the old B&C and I have certain resources to fall back on if we absolutely have to, and not everyone is so fortunate, so there is that.

@Stephen1947:
Stephen1947, this is so cool. Can you put up a link to your group? I’m in Cambridge and I would like to be involved–but Saturday is also the day for the solidarity with wisconsin rally on the Boston Common. You can email me at

My 85 yr old mom is headed down Friday from N Wisc. to raise some hell. You only lose when you give up. I hear Walker’s act isn’t playing that well outside Madison.

aimai, et al – here’s the Facebook page for Saturday’s event – hope to see you there – I’m an old ponytail guy with a nice wen under right eye, in case yr looking for me.

@debbie:
some Ohio Rethug this morning on NPR claimed that the protesters were shut out on Tuesday because PREVIOUS protesters to the state house had vandalized the facility (including defecating in the hall). Of course NPR did not press him on his claim or when this offense was supposed to have occurred. Who knows, it may have been some Tea Partier last year protesting health care reform. It would be irresponsible not to speculate. In any case I do think its safe to assume that GOP members are completely aware of what people are capable of if they are egged on sufficiently.

@garage mahal: It is not playing that well inside Madison either.

Apparently the Madison Police Chief is not happy about Walker’s remark that he considered planting troublemakers.
Shadow's Mom
Money donated to both funds. Unfortunately, I have a prior commitment on Saturday that prevents my attendance at a rally.
I may buy pizza a bit later today.

@Southern Beale: Right, California’s had that 2/3 majority to pass tax hikes and their budget. We know how well that’s worked out.

a small, yet personally important quibble….in the future, can you please find/use a better example to draw inspiration from rather than that coke snortin’, ho’ chasin’, refiner of the offensive pass interference move for which to serve the valiant efforts of the good folks of Wisconsin.
thank you…..

@ artemIs:
That’s where I heard this. Shame on NPR for not investigating for the truth. I’m really quite surprised — and pissed off enough to write them.
