She’s STILL talking!
A couple days ago I tried to make sense of Sarah Palin’s verbally craptastic criticism of Obama’s handling of the situation in Egypt.
Well today, the Internet Lords have blessed us with more bullshit from Our Lady of Lock and Load, and it’s even more funny, gastrically distressing, mind-numbing blisteringly stupid than I could have imagined. Once more unto the breach, dear friends:

“Remember, President Reagan lived that mantra trust but verify. We want to be able to trust those who are screaming for democracy there in Egypt, that it is a true sincere desire for freedoms. And the challenge that we have though, is how do we verify what it is that we are being told, what it is that the American public is being fed via media, via the protestors, via the government there in Egypt in order for us to really have some sound information to make wise decisions on what our position is. Trust but verify, and try to understand is what I would hope our leaders are engaged in right now. Who’s going to fill the void? Mubarak, he’s gone, one way or the other. He is not going to be the leader of Egypt. That’s a given. So now the information needs to be gathered and understood as to who it will be that fills now the void in the government. Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood? We should not stand for that, or with that or by that. Any radical Islamists, no that is not who we should be supporting and standing by. So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support.”

“Remember, President Reagan lived that mantra trust but verify. [Will the Reagan-fellating ever end? Besides, I thought he lived the mantra “make shit up; remember nothing.”] We want to be able to trust those who are screaming for democracy there in Egypt [“We”? Who is “we”? In fact, who the fuck are you, exactly?], that it is a true sincere desire for freedoms [right, because they are risking their lives right now in the hopes that they will be further repressed]. And the challenge that we have though, is how do we verify what it is that we are being told [I would suggest reading and resear– never mind], what it is that the American public is being fed via media [This concern makes sense; you work for Fox News after all and nothing you and your cronies feed the American public is anything close to the truth], via the protestors [only a person who deals in propaganda and lies would be concerned about whether the protestors themselves are, at best, a bunch of ignorant dipshits and, at worst, an army of liars and charlatans intent on overthrowing the government for no good fucking reason — wait, are we talking about Egypt?], via the government there in Egypt [only a government official — pardon me — an ex-government official known for lying, ethical breaches, and shady underhanded dealings would be concerned about a public being fed lies] in order for us to really have some sound information to make wise decisions on what our position is [um, what is this “us” shit? “our position”? Listen up Sarah: YOU ARE NOBODY. You’re a half-term, half-witted, quitter, bereft of any intelligence or common sense. Every decision you make is unwise, so do us all a favor: sit down and STFU.] Trust but verify, and try to understand is what I would hope our leaders are engaged in right now [::blank stare::]. Who’s going to fill the void? [In your head? I’m afraid that’s a lost cause.] Mubarak, he’s gone, one way or the other. He is not going to be the leader of Egypt. That’s a given. [Oh is it? Now you’re an expert in foreign policy? I’ll tell you what’s a given: you don’t have a fucking clue what you are talking about. I’ll give you a dollar if you can locate Egypt on a map. Can’t do it? Didn’t think so.] So now the information needs to be gathered and understood as to who it will be that fills now the void in the government. Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood? [Here we go… any organization that has the world “Muslim” in it must be Al Qaeda — except not really.***] We should not stand for that, or with that or by that. [or on that, or around that, or between that, or next to that.] Any radical Islamists, no that is not who we should be supporting and standing by [or supporting and standing around]. So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests [um… how about 83 million Egyptian people?!] so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support. [::stabs self in neck::]“
As with Palin’s earlier statement about Egypt, this statement contains another delicious Freudian slip: “So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests” –– because you see, the morons who are pretending they are going to affix anti-aircraft gunners to their electric scooters in order to take their country back were purposefully riled up by a bunch of rich assholes ::cough cough Koch brothers cough cough::; and Sarah, therefore believes that those who are protesting in Egypt may be doing so based upon false information since that’s how it works in these united states.
Looky here, y’all — Tea Party populism is a lie. It’s fake. It’s a distraction. The Tea Partiers are pawns in a chess game being played out by powerful people at the expense of these dimwitted fools. The Teabaggers continue to support economic policies that actively are destroying their lives; they continue to rail against a healthcare bill that will inure to their benefit; they continue to believe that Obama has raised their taxes; they continue to believe that somehow if they keep allowing the rich to stomp on their heads, maybe someday they will be lucky enough to be rich and they can stomp with glee on some other poor sucker’s head.
Palin’s statement is amazing, not because it has any meaning (it doesn’t) or makes any sense (it doesn’t) but because it confirms that (at least in her mind) the Tea Party Express is nothing more than a propaganda engine.
Behold! The power of Stupid:
***In responding the ZOMG! MOOSLIMZ!! fear tactics, it is so much easier to defer to people who know about these things, like Dr. Samer Shehata, a professor at Georgetown University, who appeared on The Colbert Report last week:

So, in conclusion, Sarah Palin? SHUT UP!

So she threw a few Reagan-brand croutons on her usual word salad? Super awesome.
Angry Black Lady
@Tom65: i’m so glad i’ve been reading the Clothes Have No Emperor — Reagan really was a shithead.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t share this nugget via Betty Cracker. Everything wrong with America displayed on a single Web page.

There’s no point trying to decode Palin. She is the message. The rest is political glossolalia.
Silver
She’s as dumb as Reagan, but she doesn’t shit her pants on a regular basis…yet.
Tom65
Having lived through (and been politically active during) the Reagan era, all this nostalgia makes me nauseous. I’ll punch the first punk who, thirty years from now, gets all nostalgic for W. – right in the snot locker.
kdaug
Question of the hour from Curmudgeon Cafferty on CNN right now is “Sarah Palin: Stupid, or Indescribably Stupid?”
Her 15 minutes are up.
sukabi
@Tom65: why wait 30 years? If you start now, maybe there won’t be all the “w” nostalgia… think of it as a “saving humanity” project.
Tom65
On a seperate note, it’s nice to see that Palin is expanding her choice of broadcast partners (CBN).
gbear
It caused physical pain to read what Palin said. It hurt even worse to try to read it again with running comments. Why do you hate BJ readers, ABL? Why?? Mondays are hard enough as it is.
Pancake
Here’s a compilation in one illustrative paragraph of Obama:
SpotWeld
It’s like she took the topic sentence from every conservitive blog on Egypt and just strung it all into one paragraph

@Pancake:
Heh, that ruled. Now please stop frightening me.
CT Voter
Love the “compilation in one paragraph”. LOL! Sure, if you grabbed random phrases from many speeches, stuck them all into one paragraph, you’d have gobbledy-gook.
What ABL posted was an entire, complete “utterance” from Palin. Pancake? You just made the point beautifully.
Just Some Fuckhead
I like how Sarah Palin is hearkening us to remember Reagan, she who was 16 years old when he was elected.
Villago Delenda Est
Palin is, much like the shitty grade Z movie star (not actor…movie star…there is a difference) Reagan, an empty headed front person for seriously evil, fucked up, neo-feudalists to put a smiling face on their relentless eternal war on the Enlightenment and all its fruits.
The Dangerman
I agree entirely; trust AND verify. Accordingly, I want to see her collegiate transcripts AND her tax returns.
Ash Can
I need to get better at viewing all right-wing bullshit through the lens of projection, because that quite simply is what’s going on. I’m realizing that the reason I can’t wrap my mind around the psychosis that is the right-wing mind is that I’m trying to follow it in a linear, rather than circular, way. I need to stop hearing “you’re doing X” as “you’re doing X,” and start hearing it as “we’re doing X.”
sukabi
@The Dangerman: I want to see her birth certificate… want to see if her parents were both human, or some f’d up robotic androids from the future set on destroying this country from the inside.

@trollhattan: And I looked, and behold a Palin horse: and her name that sat on him was Dim, and Heck followed with her….”

@LanceThruster: Also, Too.

Sarah is going away quietly because the media is mean to her family and she has a down syndrome child who needs her also, too, plus it has nothing to do with her use of word salad and Ronald Reagan was great also, too but she would stay if the people asked her, also too.
Do I win I prize for the above sentence?
Villago Delenda Est
@JPL:
The problem is, Sarah has insatiable greed and narcissism to feed, so she’ll never go away. She’ll gladly sacrifice all her children for, in the words of Monty Burns, “just a little bit more”.
lacp
@The Dangerman: long-form birth certificate wouldn’t hurt, either.
I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, figuring that she was just really ignorant. I was wrong. She’s also really, really stupid.
kdaug
@Pancake: I do wonder, on occasion, why trolls bother showing up here. I mean, you don’t come up with any compelling arguments, don’t provide any meaningful insights, don’t add to the discourse. What’s the point? Why waste your time?
Do you think that with inane gibberish you’re going to sway any minds in this commentariat?
I think we’re all open to good-faith argument and discussion around here (and some, like me, love it).
But if all you’re going to do is come here, put your finger to your lips, and go “burbleburbleburble”, what the hell is the point? Seriously.
sukabi
@Villago Delenda Est: and she’s taught her children well… Bristol’s got a “book” coming out this summer… no title yet… and probably no pages produced but it’s to be her memoir…

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t that phrase used when Reagan signed the first START treaty with the USSR? And wasn’t Sarah against signing the latest START treaty?
Oh, and please let me share this nugget that Digby tweeted about earlier:

Conservatism; where even the “smart” people are retards.
Its selection for Stupid. And Palin and Dubya are pinnacle of 50 years of memetic bio-engineering for idiots.
If their DNA should ever be combined it would result in a tear of the fabric of spacetime big enough to allow the Elder Ones to come through, and an apocalypse of Stupid that would cause the end of molecular motion in the metaverses.

@sukabi:
I suspect some fishy business was at hand since she went to college in exotic Hawaii.

@kdaug: Shorter Pancake et al.: “We’d love to actually debate, but we’ve got fuck-all.”
@Sko Hayes: I saw this earlier. The comment thread at TPM made me think that this might just have been some little shakedown scheme, maybe with Palin getting a cut. I wonder if the people who have already purchased tickets to this non-event are getting refunds minus a “shipping and handling” charge, or maybe no refund at all.
Otto Graf von Pfmidtnöchtler-Pízsmőgy (formerly Mumphrey, et al.)
See, this kind of shit is why I think she really is going to run for president. I think she’s trying to sound wise and serious so she can have a shot at the presidency. She can’t win the general, but I still think she has half a shot at the nomination. I know a lot of people here (and elsewhere) think that she really doesn’t want to be president because she doesn’t want to do the work. I think that’s only half right: Indeed she doesn’t want to do the work, but I think she still wants to be president. I don’t altogether understand why. My guess is that it’s partly that she wants to make this country over as some kind of wingnut fantasy, and partly that it would be a big Fuck You! to all those hateful liberal elitist snobs who looked down on her all her life. I don’t gamble, but if I did, I’d bet on her running for real.
sukabi
@Just Some Fuckhead: yeah, exotic and foreign… plus she does vacation there on occasion and tries to hide her associations with “real Americans” while there…
definitely cause for concern.
goblue72
Do you think she can see the pyramids from her house?
sukabi
@Otto Graf von Pfmidtnöchtler-Pízsmőgy (formerly Mumphrey, et al.): she might be delusional enough to actually make a serious run at it. I think she’s focused on the AFTER THE PRESIDENCY $$$ opportunities that unfold for “retiring presidents”, not the whole “shaping the country” thing. She’s much too lazy/unfocused/secretive to actually do the work of being president or being exposed to all the questions, scrutiny, even if her goal was to “reshape” the country.
goblue72
@lacp: If she got locked in a room with Ron “The Hedgehog” Jeremy for an hour, I don’t think I could even muster up enough pity to throw her a jar of lube.
losingtehplot
She let slip the word ‘mantra’ – she’s obviously a Manchurian Hindu Candidate.

@trollhattan :
At first glance at the tammybruce.com link, it seemed like a wonderfully understated snark of pithy excellence. That is, until I clicked on the “Books” link and realized Tammy Bruce is just another Ann Coulter/Michelle Malkin wannabe and intended the referenced link as a serious taunt to SnowPrincess’s detractors.

Well, since a nontrivial percentage of Republicans seem to be convinced that Hawaii was actually part of Kenya until 1969, it definitely needs looking into….

Even Ras has her losing to Obama by double-digits.

Apparently not. Yet we mock similar behavior from the Iranians and North Koreans. I spotted a nauseating interview with that asshole Grover Norquist on the front page of the local rag, where he basically praised RR as the Greatest American Who Ever Lived, etc.
Count on some moron in the House GOP to propose putting Reagan’s mug on the 1, 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills to inspire Real Americans to go out and spend, borrow, and spend our economy back onto its feet. Because that was how it worked back in the 1980s and what could go wrong?
mr. whipple
I sent that quote to a conservative friend, asking how he could have voted for that imbecile, especially in light of him voting twice for the previous imbecile….and we all know how well that worked out.
Amazing. God, I hope she runs.
bobbo
She only has one talking point, “Remember what Ronald Reagan said: trust but verify” because it’s all she can remember. And she has succeeded in rendering it utterly meaningless.

@goblue72: Man, you must hate Ron Jeremy.
@Just Some Fuckhead: Went to college there, briefly, and left as soon as she could to get away from the “diversity” there.

@redoubt: Keeping in mind that Saint Reagan was quoting a Russian proverb–if she finds out that little nugget her tiny mind would be blown. She might even have to move farther away from Russia.

I’m embarrassed for this country that there’s a significant minority who thinks this is a serious person, worthy of the Presidency. But, like Reagan, others would run the show and call the shots for Sarah. All Ron had to do was hit his marks and say his lines – Sarah’s job would be no different. For Reagan, it was Mike Deaver and Howard Baker…question is, who’d Sarah be taking her orders from? Tawd? The Koch Brothers?
I, too, think she’s in the race. She’s not smart enough to be self aware of her limitations. She’ll run because 1) it will be personally profitable and (2) because she thinks it is a popularity contest that she can win. Considering the intelligence of the average Republican voter, she may well be right.
Run, Sarah, run!
dude
