Authorities have yet to decide whether this was done by a liberal plant or by a crazy person who has never watched Fox News or listened to talk radio.
An incendiary device found along the route of a Martin Luther King Day parade in Spokane, Wash., was “likely capable of inflicting multiple casualties,” the FBI said today.
Expect more of this. And remember it’s all coincidence that it’s all aimed at black people, Democrats, and people who work in the federal government.

Why don’t we just all jump to our little conclusions before any more facts are revealed?
My take is that it IS the work of some left-winger to make it look like it was planted by some right-winger. Like you guys, I don’t even have to read the article to come to that conclusion.
Facts are irrevelant. You guys showed me that after the Tucson shootings, it’s the theory that’s important. If it sounds good, it must be true. Especially if it makes Palin look bad.

Those exploding letters that were sent to Democrats Martin O’Malley and Janet Napalitano two days before the Giffords shooting were also just some random act of violence commited against two random people who just happen to be politicians of a certain party. And the exploding letter that caught on fire at the post office the Friday before the shooting was a totally random incident that had nothing to do with the other two exploding letters. Maybe a disgruntled Netflix user who got the wrong DVD. Nothing to do with politics at all.

A thousand people have said this here before, but what the hell: If somebody shot John McCain or John Boehner or Rush Limbaugh, then that would be the time to begin asking whether it might have been a liberal. Well, maybe not with Limbaugh; more likely that would end up having beena drug deal gone bad. As long as people are threatening and killing and trying to kill liberals, then it’s fair to ask if right-wingers might be doing it. So, again: when conservatives are getting killed, then feel free to accuse liberals of being violent, but until then, if you’d be so kind, shut the fuck up.

OK three explosives mailed to government reps in the DC area and an assassination attempt could’ve been a coincidence but is this frequency of these sorts of things precedented in Obama’s presidency? My wife and our daughter were born in Spokane and I lived there from the early 60’s until ’92 when we moved to Oregon. The place is a conservative shithole and the town is surrounded by Neo-Nazis. The panhandle area of Idaho is home to lots more of the same, so it’s no surprise to us that this happened. Thank goodness that they found it before it was detonated and I hope they get some good evidence from it.
I think this is not the last we will hear of this kind of thing out of that area but I sure hope I am proven wrong. We got out of there because we just didn’t like the crime mess it was turning into there, plus the police/sheriff departments are staffed with much of the same nuttiness. We are relieved that nobody was hurt and really hope the FBI gets whoever did this. At least it stands a chance of being solved with them involved.
If it was just the Spokane cops investigating it I really doubt they would solve it. That or they would catch whoever did it and screw the case up so much that the perp would walk free.
Zach
@morzer: There have been several attempts on the President that’ve been broken up before they occurred… these were often on par with the domestic terrorist rings that get broken up via entrapment. And there’s been the sporadic right-wing-tin-foil-with-a-grudge type (Loughner, Stack, etc) attack that’s obviously political. I’m talking about actual attempts like those that progressed to their final stage and could’ve easily killed people (or did, obviously)… one every few days is unprecedented. It’s amazing that I haven’t even heard of the MD attacks in the news since the Giffords shooting.
Another observation: profiling is totally cool and actually necessary to stop terrorism unless it’s the sort of profiling that says someone who tried to blow up a civil rights parade more likely than not doesn’t care for civil rights.
Also, if anyone else was confused like me, the “relay for life” t-shirt has nothing to do with abortion (I thought it said “rally for life” at first).

Spokane is not the Seattle/Portland/San Fransisco NW liberal extremist paradise @blogreeder seems to think it is. This is the solidly red half of Washington state where a pair of “truck nutz” and a gun rack is not uncommon. Recently bike lanes in downtown Spokane were so contentious that two wheeled commuters were labeled “bicycle terrorists” by the editorial staff of the local newspaper, and the stakeout at Ruby Ridge happend an hour from here in the 90’s. This the political/cultural backdrop for this attempted bombing. You figure out who built the pipe bomb.
