That $100 billion in cuts Republicans promised? What they really meant was more like $50 billion.
No one could have predicted that two years of shilling for tea party lunatics financed by the usual suspects to put the same old crooks that broke your heart the last time back in power could have ended this way.
fourlegsgood
I am hoping that all of their heads will explode like the aliens in “Mars Attacks!”
because that would be justice.
Morbo
Peter… what’s happening?
Also don’t forget, tax cuts have no effect on the budget.
BGinCHI
O/T, sort of. Subject is still idiocy.
This from an inside publishing email I get daily:
“Finally, Simon & Schuster’s anonymous January 25 release O: A Presidential Novel is causing a stir in the press. Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire claims the author has “‘vast personal experience’ about what President Obama needs to do to win re-election,” without indicating whom they are quoting, or what the quote even means.”
You just can’t make this shit up.
tbogg
I bet Suderman was also surprised when the blowjobs stopped happening three days after the wedding ceremony.
Quaker in a Basement
Bah!
Stand by for a refresh on the cuts-versus-rate-of-increase mind games. Congressional GOP will argue that they’re spending $100 billion less than the trend line as they increase the size of the budget.
Write it down and remember you heard it here first.
Ash Can
And we all know that they’re going to end up cutting precisely nothing, because all they want to cut are programs that benefit children, minorities, women, the poor, the middle class, and any other non-wealthy/non-whites. (This includes things such as food and workplace safety, as well as the environment.) Then they’ll scream that the big, bad fiscally irresponsible Democrats won’t let them balance the budget. It’ll be Ronald Reagan’s Greatest Hits all over again.
ETA @tbogg #4: LOL!
danimal
I don’t even know what to say about these shills that carried water for the GOP based on the fantasy sold to conservatives. Are they evil or stupid; the eternal debate. I don’t give a damn any more. Whether they believe their crap or not just doesn’t matter to me. Boohoo, Boehner stole your candy, tell it to someone who cares.
cleek
the GOP is a bunch of frauds ?
goodness me! someone fetch the smelling salts, i think i shall faint!
El Cid
Good thing that in calculating the deficits and debt, there is no such thing as the revenue side of the ledger, just a spending side, and of that the only portions available for spending reductions under current understandings of quantum chromodynamics are ‘discretionary’ social spending, and that term will apply to any such spending, mandatory or not.
some other guy
Their promise of $100 billion in cuts has morphed into “return to 2008 spending levels… except for defense, veterans affairs, and national security… and social security and medicare.”
Basically, they’re going to take credit for the deficit reduction that was already going to happen anyway once the spending allocated in the 2009 stimulus bill expired.
Wonder if the Teatards will fall for it…

@some other guy:
i put this question to my magic 8 ball. it said “Duh”.

Anyone else see this on Yahoo! The best takeaway from this article is that Andrew Breitbart claims to have invented the Huffington Post.
That would explain everything.

Best post of that thread at Reason:
Man, those wingnut welfare gigs are baller!

His wife simply refused to do it without pay.

@tbogg:
For him, the blowjobs never stopped. He’s still sucking off big-spending, big-warring Republicans in the misguided belief that they’re really true believers in the magical Ayn Rand fairies like he is.
ChrisS
These people are so fucking predictable.
Butch
The thing that’s getting to me is that the press coverage seems to indicate that Republicans have taken over all branches of government. First Read even described McConnell as the man who will decide on legislative priorities for the coming two years. Thought he was still minority leader.

@Mr. Poppinfresh: Oh I don’t know. I really like this part
There’s a “reason.tv”? Doesn’t Faux news already have this market cornered?
Suffern ACE
@some other guy: I like the part where they blame the Democrats for not passing any appropriations bills for 2011. That $100 billion was supposed to come from increased expenditures that were never passed. We could have cut more if only the Democrats had spent more so its really the Democrats fault that there are no easy cuts.
dmsilev
Look on the bright side. He’s still a factor of several better at math than his wife.

Udall has started the process on filibuster reform. Anyone know if he has a shot?

You, too?

What is he saying? That math-wise Paul Ryan is in the same league as his wifey?

@dmsilev: Bet HE never had gastritis!

NO WORRIES! The GOP will cut another $50B in taxes and the increased revenue will more than make up the difference.
StringonaStick
He must be using Megger’s calculator. I suspect it is the only thing of hers that he has access to anymore.
geg6
I’m sure that if Peter asked his wife, she could use her mad math skilz to explain why this seeming backstep will actually cut the deficit AND allow for cutting the top tax rate to 10%.
New Yorker
This is battered wife syndrome, right? Reasonoid: “Aw shucks, Mr. Sheriff, Johnny didn’t mean to hurt me when he reneged on spending cuts, it’s just that his last fake tan made him look even more like a sweet potato than before, and he was pissed about it. I know next time he’ll be good to me and actually cut defense spending…”
Uloborus
OT, I’m watching last night’s Daily Show, and I’m greatly encouraged by the debate for a new RNC chairman. What we need most of all are a bunch of dully unimaginative liars. A good liar who could make it sound like Palin DOES have a shot at the presidency instead of droning ‘yes’ might be dangerous.

@tbogg: Dayamn! Comment # 4 and the thread has been won. Bassets are obviously having a positive influence on your life.

I can deal with a broken heart, John, it’s the demise of our country that is a most bitter pill.
P.S. Math and science are against the republicans’ religion. Besides, doncha know they create reality?

The Republicans reaaaalllllyyyy wanted to cut spending, but the Democrats in the Senate and President Obama didn’t let them do it.
That’s all that needs to be said, true or not, to keep the Teabaggers happy and Republicans unaccountable.
Is there any surprise Republicans aren’t proposing cuts, when they can shift the blame to Democrats and have their voters gladly agreeing with them?
rikyrah
the only ones who actually believed that they were serious about cutting anything are the stupid mofos that voted for them. the rest of us knew they were lying sociopaths.

I was heartened by the “moderator” of the “debate” basically shovelling talking points at the candidates for them to nod their heads to. Way to differentiate yourselves on how you would run the party, guys…
