Please, for the sake of my sanity and blood pressure, more Lily.

I was just complaining to my John last night that ever since I bought my Lily mug, Cole has quit posting Lily pix. Guess the last time you posted one wasn’t just to force me to buy the mug. ;-)
She really is adorable, isn’t she?

Yay doggie!
@SiubhanDuinne: John posted a great photo of Mt. Tunch last night.
We are far from the best creature on this planet, but the others offer us chances to redeem ourselves. Hurray for dogs and cats and other critters that give us a chance to rise up to our better potential natures.
What? No thread on Prince William and his fiancee? I wonder if he has a Camilla Parker-Bowles stashed somewhere.

The Dangerman
Bad idea to watch “The Godfather” with Tunch; just sayin’ that horses head gave him ideas.

SO jumping in on a animal open thread, I’m starting to think that Jack might have elbow dysplasia.
He’s our rescue brittany mix coming up on 9 months old. I’ve noticed since we’ve had him, that he will limp a bit sometimes at the end of our walks. Other times, he doesn’t limp at all. Usually, it’s just an abnormal gait. The other night however, I almost thought I’d have to carry him home. Other times, he’s been fully capable of mile, mile and half walks. He doesn’t seem to suffer in his play, loves to run around the yard when he gets the “zoomies.”
He’s a very smart little dog, definitely has birdiness, and I wonder if he developed a limp at 4-5 months which is what put him in the shelter.
So I’m wondering if anyone has experience with dysplasia, what can I expect/do. Would an average vet be able to detect elbow dysplasia at this stage? Could it just be a puppy exercise thing? I’m thinking about starting him on Glucosamine and Chondroitin.
@chriss: Does the limp seem to move, or is it limited to one leg? Panosteitis may be a complete nonstarter because your dog is a smaller breed, but I went through it with King (GSD/Lab mix). It’s no fun, but at least it goes away over time. Good luck with your pup!

Intruding with a not so cute face, but smart brain:
…Only one counterforce [to economic meltdown/chaos] was available, and that was you, Uncle Sam. Yes, you are often clumsy, even inept. But when businesses and people worldwide race to get liquid, you are the only party with the resources to take the other side of the transaction. And when our citizens are losing trust by the hour in institutions they once revered, only you can restore calm.
When the crisis struck, I felt you would understand the role you had to play. But you’ve never been known for speed, and in a meltdown minutes matter. I worried whether the barrage of shattering surprises would disorient you. You would have to improvise solutions on the run, stretch legal boundaries and avoid slowdowns, like Congressional hearings and studies. You would also need to get turf-conscious departments to work together in mounting your counterattack. The challenge was huge, and many people thought you were not up to it.
Well, Uncle Sam, you delivered. People will second-guess your specific decisions; you can always count on that. But just as there is a fog of war, there is a fog of panic — and, overall, your actions were remarkably effective.
And Buffet says some nice things about Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke and Sheila Bair.
Better to read the essay of a wise observer than the tweets of teenagers. Or their asinine mothers.

Haven’t been around for awhile because a) I needed a break from political talk and b) if you remember the movie “The Money Pit”, that has become my life.
But I’m so glad I peeked in this morning. A new photo of sweet Lily and a patented Cole rant. Now I can go back to painting.
No, it’s his right front leg, but if I grab it and manipulate it, I can’t get any response from him.
He’s such a loyal little dog that, regardless of how he felt, if I were to keep walking he’d try like hell to keep up and not complain. I’m going to shorten his walks and start the supplements. Unfortunately, I’m working out of town all the time and don’t have the free time to get him to the vet right now. I could call, but I’m pretty certain all they’ll say is, “can you bring him in? We have an open appt at noon.”
Aw, what a sweet picture. So where do you sleep now, John, on the couch? Oh wait, that’s Tunch’s domain. On the floor?
And in case all you dog and/or cat lovers didn’t see this heartwarming story from the Cleveland Animal Protection League, about a cat who adopted an orphaned pup, check it out here.

@ChrisS: Sounds like it could be a luxating patella which would require surgery. In any case, take the dog to the vet. I think glucosamine is always a good idea.
Thanks! Dunno how I missed that entire thread last night, but miss it I did. Great action photo of Tunch. Apologies, John.

I’m reading Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell and Know by Alexandra Horowitz right now, and it’s fascinating. Learning all kinds of interesting stuff about my little dingo baby. I highly recommend it to all the puppeh lovers out there.

I actually gasped with pleasure and relief when this photo came up. Does John understand how necessary pet pics are to maintaining sanity in the fragile, borderline disturbed, collective BJ community psyche? DOES HE?!!!

@Carnacki:
I am shocked to hear that; it’s so contrary to their “we must win at any cost because it proves that we’re RIGHT” philosophy. :P
The sad thing is, it’s probably not even about them thinking that Bristol is the best dancer; it’s about their brainless adulation of her mother. Imagine if she’d sided with Levi in his public feud with Mama Grizzly!
At this rate we can expect her to get her own Fox commentary gig, just like mom. Meritocracy and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, indeed…

Puppeh!!
It has been WAY too long since we’ve seen Lily (or Rosie, or Tunch, just saying). Thanks for this sweet photo, John.

Thanks much Cole. :)

You’re a lucky guy, John Cole.

I needed Tunch and Lily the last couple of days. Really the 24/7 coverage of Will and Kat, Bristol-gate and now Willow-gate I cannot take it anymore.
I believe the Republicans have won, I’m all done in.

I have to tell you, since this is an pet thread, I bought a new down comforter and ever since the cats won’t sleep with me. It somehow offends them.
