Who is eh other and why should I be nice to him/her?

From the looks of this post, Cole clearly left off the necessary “John +8” at the bottom…

The August heat has gotten to our fearless leader it seems, eh?

You found yourself some wings. Enjoy the distant roads that are calling you.
Eh? Are you coming to Canada?
Ned R.
Surely that should be “Be excellent to each other.”

Screw you!

eh other (sometimes: e.h. other) was an American poet. he shocked the poetry world in 1932 when he released his first book, “anal lysis and me aning of pems”. this book introduced the world to his trademark “word frag meant” technique, which relied on splitting words into fragments which could then deliver meaning beyond what the whole words could.
the titular poem was an instant hit:
many people considered the style too difficult to read, and the technique too obvious. indeed, a number of abridged volumes were published which reprinted the poems with the words un-split, for clarity. but an equal, and frankly more-vocal, number thought it a brilliant commentary on contemporary man’s fragmented and unfocused attention span – a problem that has only increased in the decades since.
today, eh is nearly forgotten. his style quickly fell out of favor with a public that, ironically, was so eager for new experiences that it discarded him before his second book, which contained his masterpiece “wai tingfor the the rapist”, was even finished. when it was eventually published, in 1934, it sold poorly and most copies were shredded.
such is fame.

It is nice to eh an other, rather than having to eh yourself all the time.

Cleek, where’s our next contest?

I’ll be nice to whoever I goddam well please to be nice to.
And if this article in the Times is accurate, that surely won’t include Kenneth Feinberg, the administrator of BP’s $20 billion compensation fund.
In order to get a payout from the fund, claimants have to agree not to sue TransOcean, Halliburton, and Cameron (the manufacturer of the failed blowout preventer)?
Fuck no. And fuck you very much for asking.

Fuck all y’all.
So much for being nice =)

eh, what fools these other mortals be!
stand aside: the noise they make
will cause the others to awake.

that befall preposterously.

@burnspbesq: What’s the prob with ensuring the entire Gulf coast doesn’t double dip? Otherwise, why wouldn’t someone bitch and moan themselves into a nice $100K settlement, then turn around and class-action themselves into another half-milly?
Gotta to be some restrictions. I cant wait to see taxicab drivers in Jax and Atlanta and scuba instructors in Daytona all trying to claim “injury” from this spill. Gunna make a ton of lawyers filthy rich.

Cole means “Be nice to each other” I suppose.
Cole is trolling his own site again, and I predict a firestorm.

@Punchy:
Consider, just for a moment, the possibility that the conduct of some or all of the potential defendants is so egregious that it justifies an award of punitive damages. Punitive damages have a public benefit (deterrence) that exists entirely apart from the windfall to the plaintiff.
The only way to get these fuckers’ attention is to hit them in the corporate treasury – preferably the biggest possible hit. Take the possibility of punitive damages out of the equation, and you’re left with what other means to modify behavior?
jl
@cleek: Interesting, but I can’t find anything on this ‘eh other’. You have a reference, or is this a spoof?

@cleek:
Try Bruce Cockburn. In addition to being a great singer and guitarist, he’s written so much music over his 40-year career that there is a title or a quote for just about any occasion:
Example:
“Everybody
Wants to see
Justice done
On somebody else.”

@Comrade Mary: Thank you for that! It makes me happy to see these guys, older & considerably wider than they were when that song was blasting from every transistor radio, still out there enjoying their jobs.
