John Amato and Dave Niewert are participating in a live chat at the Great Orange Satan to discuss their new book.
Two hours of Leverage tonight as the new season starts.
I have in my hot little hands the latest Barry Eisler work, Inside Out: A Novel. Jealous?

Beth Riesgraf. And Gina Bellman.
Yeah…..

“He will release [videotapes documenting American torture of suspected terrorists] to the world’s media in five days if he is not paid $100 million in small, uncut diamonds.”
Ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha!
I’m a novelist about a thousand mile beneath Eisler’s notice, and this is why. $100 million for video of America’s Patriots Doing Their Jobs, that no American media outlet would broadcast?
I’m so fucked.

Are you still Jane’s ex in the new novel?

I went to see Toy Story 3 today, and I must say, it was pretty good. it was definitely a fitting way to end a great movie series. if they all could end this way, it would be great.
The movie had the right mixture of nostalgia, heart and fun you’d expect from Pixar and Toy Story.
The reviews I’d read said that the movie had many touching moments and I kid you not, there are def some poignant and tender and yes, weepy moments. I’ll admit, I got misty at a lot of moments, and I don’t even have kids, so if you have kids, I would be shocked if you didn’t get misty eyed as well.
I higly recommend the movie if you’re a fan of the original 2 or not. And as singleton with no kids, I still enjoyed it. It’s definitely worth the ticket price.
BTW, save your money on the 3D ticket, there was not much 3D there.

In honor of all the fathers, on BJ, Happy Father’s Day and here’s my favorite PSA evah:

I apologize for linking to Politico, but who could have guessed that the Tea Party, fanatical guardians of the Constitution that they are, would be devoted to recalling members of Congress—something the Constitution does not allow?

Finally, tonight ends The Tudors. I have no idea why I stuck it out this season; it sucked. And yet, I did.
Note to True Blood: More Sam- Bill erotic dreaming, plz. That was awesome.

I followed John’s link (does that make me a Cole-bot?). I’d never heard of this man before….and while the book John is reading doesn’t interest me much, the Rain Fall book sounds kinda cool.
Of course it doesn’t hurt that the author looks like this. He’s a little yummy.
EDIT: or that his bio starts out like this: “Barry Eisler spent three years in a covert position with the CIA, then worked as a technology lawyer and startup executive in Silicon Valley and Japan, earning his black belt at the Kodokan International Judo Center along the way.”

@KCinDC: with such well-regarded and experienced constitutional experts on the teatard side …:
“There’s two trains of thought,” said RoseAnn Salanitri, a 60-year-old, stay-at-home mom who said she came to the idea of pushing for the Menendez recall after doing months of research on the law. “It can be [a loss] if we were inclined to roll over and play dead if they don’t agree with our position.”

I don’t know, TaMara. I prefer my men a little less shaggy and drooly :-)

Been reading the John Rain novels, I think I bought 5 or 6 on a rec from a commenter here in one of those book threads that break out every so often. Any luck, this thread can be another of those.

@Comrade Mary: The men I’m attracted to are wide and varied. As an Air Force brat, the sight of a well groomed man in a crisp uniform and mirror-shined shoes can cause me to drive off the road. Which is really embarrassing if you’re actually driving on base. Just sayin’

@Nicole:
I just caught up with the season premiere and I concur, we need more Sam & Bill “almost” man on man action.
Actually, I could use more of naked Eric…damn if they dude isn’t hawt!!!
Chat Noir
@stuckinred: My husband is already lamenting “Treme” withdrawal after tonight’s episode. Have to keep reminding him we get “Mad Men” in a month so all is well.

And for Father’s Day, a link celebrating not only dads, but two funny guys who really were willing to risk their careers for what they believed in (Keith Olbermann, are you paying attention)?

My own old man had me listening to their Live at the Purple Onion album from the time I was six.

totally OT but I am in Costa Rica watching the Colombian news channel and the military guy Santos, heir to Uribe, just won the election. I just find it freaky that he has the whole military contingent on stage with him. Very creepy.
ETA: WFS! the cheering for the army, the adulation for it is really really scary. Colombia is now a country where the army is the most trusted institution. Not going to end well.

PLEASE, please, sweet Jesus, I can take a lot.
But don’t tell me that William “Captain Wrong-Way” Kristol has a son or daughter ready to put down their crayola and start writing neo-con diatribes in TNR.
I’m beggin ya!!!
Comrade Mary
@TaMara (BHF): Oh, I have eclectic tastes in men, too, which is why I’m really curious about what that author looks like. But the link you provided didn’t really seem to help out.
EDIT: So I hunted him down myself, and what the hell — he is shaggy! Ha! No wonder we were talking past each other. Can’t see any drool, though, so that’s good.
Dee Loralei
@Comrade Mary: I had that same problem with TaMara’s link. But if you go to the link John provided his pic is on his Amazon page. And yea, he’s kinda yummy.
I read two of his blog posts too.

Ya don’t have to be an O-bot to love this video:

Check out Sasha Obama high fiving Dick Cheney!!!! at Obama’s senate swearing in ceremony. Shows only children can get past darth vader’s moods!
Happy Father’s Day.

@lamh32: No kidding about Eric. Excellent bum shot. Shakespeare was right, there is a divinity that shapes our ends. Eric’s, anyway.

@Nicole: So glad True Blood is back!
demimondian
@Nicole: Feh. You want men who give up everything for what they believed in, yet venerated their fathers?
OK, then. This is the real thing.
ETA: If you were raised on _The Smothers Brothers_, I was raised on Paul Robeson and Pete Seeger.

@Nicole:
OMG Nicole,
didn’t ya almost wanna take a bite outta it. TMI I know, TMI!
Do they grow all them like that in Sweden? Cause I’m gonna have to move
TaMara (BHF)
@Comrade Mary: Oh, I see the problem. Cut and paste didn’t work and it pasted the last link I did, no wonder you were talking about drool and I was clueless. And now I’m outed. You know what I was really looking for today! (Damn John Cole and his rescue stories – I do not have room for a 150lb dog in my house right now – in my heart, yes, but that’s a whole different issue).
Darkrose
@gwangung: And Aldis Hodge. And Christian Kane.
Tim Hutton’s not exactly hard on the eyes, for that matter.
gwangung
@Darkrose: One of my friends who got a guest shot on LEVERAGE has a celebrity crush on Tim Hutton. The other has one on Jeri Ryan–and their episode was in the middle of her guest run.
Yeah, the acting biz does have its perks sometime….
Chris
John, I am jealous re: the new Eisler novel, but I thought Fault Line’s name-dropping was less than subtle. It was like the Facebook equivalent of “Barry Eisler is now a fan of Balloon Juice, TPM, FireDogLake, Unclaimed Territory, and Andrew Sullivan.”
(Though I’m thinking a little better of Eisler’s editor(s) since they caught the Dov/Dox typo in “The Last Assassin” that made it sound like Delilah had slept with the latter; it’s in the hardback but fixed in paperback. Rather amusing if you recall the characters…)

I am reading a few decent books right now:
The Facebook Effect by David Kirkpatrick – pretty decent account of how this all came about. I think it’s a little too sympathetic to Mark Zuckerberg though. Still an interesting read.
The Life of Abraham Lincoln by Henry Ketcham – just started this one. No real opinion.
John Adams by David McCullough – Awesome book. Awesome miniseries. So I thought I would re-read the book.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith – just started it, but I have heard really great things.
Just got back from a week long Civil War/Revolutionary War jaunt through the Northeast, so now I am spending money reading about all this.
Except the vampires.

I just read John Amato and Dave Niewert discussion on dkos.
I didn’t know John Cole was a Republican!! Wow, there is hope in this world. I think I was born a Dem.
Phyllis
Reading ‘The Bounty’ by Caroline Alexander. It’s the true story of the mutiny. I’m about half-way in. Fascinating look at British naval culture of the time. Hoping she gets to an explanation of Fletcher Christian at some point or I will be a tad annoyed.
Nicole
@demimondian: The Smothers Brothers have a petition up on their site to get Pete Seeger nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Check it out.
