Cranking the J.B’s. Forgot how much I loved this album:
Also, since you obviously have no life since you are here on a Saturday night, go fill out some petitions to the right for causes that interest you. It helps pay the bills here and helps your cause.

I do too have a life!

The Grand Panjandrum
If that don’t get you up dancing you have no soul. None.

Fewer expectations, more roses to smell.

I don’t. My son is at a sleepover, my wife, daughter and her friend are watching sparkly vampires and I am making them popcorn and letting the cats in and out. Good times.
In music news, very saddened by the untimely (self-inflicted) passing of Will Owsley. He made some awesome power pop in his short life.

Nice thing about being a grownup is I don’t have to pretend that all life exists on the other side of my front door. And I can go to bed when I want. Ok, well, it’s the nice thing about being a cranky grownup.

I am more than happy to fill out some of the petitions, except for the fact that some of them say “Tell Republicans….:” The very idea of telling them anything is comical, imo, since they just cover their ears and go “LA LA LA LA LAAAAA. I CAN’T HEAR YOU.”
Yutsano
Well, I’m going to dinner at my parents’ place where my big gray beast will get shaved for the summer. I think we’re going to make a few more cats from his fur. Gotta love a Himalayan gene in there. That counts as a life, amirite?
Brachiator
Great stuff! This reminds me that some PBS stations are showing the great documentary of the 1964 T.A.M.I show, which featured a galaxy of talent, from James Brown to the Rolling Stones to the Beach Boys (whose performance was cut from the earlier versions of the documentary). And a go go dancing Terri Garr. The documentary is also available on a beautifully restored DVD.
The commentary on the DVD are very illuminating of the state of pop music in 1964:
The trailer for the DVD release is almost unintentionally funny when you consider the later success of groups like the Supremes or the Stones.

I’m watching Master and Commander. I love the soundtrack. Good way to end a good day. (The craft fair I went to this afternoon was good, the day was sunny and warm and a friend and I sat in the behind the Museum of Natural History for a good hour talking.)

OK, petitions signed. Now what?
What a funky-ass week this has been. My brain seems to have shut down. It’s a good thing I don’t get blasted any more.

@PurpleGirl:
That is a great soundtrack. It got me into Yo-Yo Ma.

At the half, Celtics leading Cavs by 11. Right, give me grief…I lived near Boston for 35 years and I gotta right! The only thing I don’t like in Northern NJ are all the Yankee caps).

Umm, you DID notice that the Ohio LeBrons are having trouble with the Boston Olde Guys at HOME, didn’t you?
And you say I have no life? Hah I say. HAH!
I have Sailor Jerry’s Spiced Rum. I have 100hitz.com streaming 90’s alternative. I have fairly high quality basketball on the teevee. I have my meatless weekend working, with a white bean puree on tap for tonight, topped with a poached egg and served with sliced tomatoes, avocados and buffalo mozzarella. I don’t have a girlfriend, or any serious expectation of human contact, but I have Avatar and Enemy at the Gates on the server for later if I decide that’s what I wanna do. See?? Who needs this “life” you speak of…

Just finished the final episode of Mad Men, season 3. Damn, those last two episodes were amazing.

I have so little life that I don’t even care that I don’t have a life. However, someone has to take care of the cats.

Mmm…Mrs J’s famous pudding pie.
SIA
@jeffreyw: Wow. You BOTH cook. That looks amazing.

“Wit’out no doubt, THEEEEEESE…. are the JB’s!” John, that album is the awesomest.
In order for me to get down, I’ve got to get in D.

If we went back to the key of F, what would you think of it? John, what do you think of when you think of the key of F? And make it big, brother.
jeffreyw
@SIA: A favor? Leave a nice comment on it, she doesn’t read BJ, but she does look at the photostream. Thanks.
SIA
@jeffreyw: My pleasure.

Funk is good.
Steeplejack
Yes, funk is good. I love the J.B.’s. Couldn’t find a clip of my personal favorite, “Dirty Hari,” so I’ll throw out some Johnny “Guitar” Watson–“Ain’t That a Bitch.”
Polar Bear Squares
Funky like an old batch of collared greens.
