Very odd beginning.. might have to do with Israel..
Last weeks episode was awesome. I loved Morgan’s line about what is a hero anyway.
I love this show!

You’re outsourcing jobs to foreigners? Why do you hate America?

This evening I put the battery back into my scooter and went riding for the first time since Thanksgiving weekend.
SO MUCH FUN!! It was great to be on two wheels again.
It’s supposed to snow later in the week, but we’ll take sping while we can get it.
Congrats again to all the job-finders!

I sold three photos on Shutterstock. Yay for me.
Say, what’s up with that wonderfully kinky Project Wonderful ad? I’m outta here *clickety click*

@gbear: Of course it’s going to snow. I put away my snow blower and took my bikes for a tune up.
And congrats newly employed!

I’ve gotten three long rides in this past week and looking forward to at least 3 more this week before the next spring snow. Psych! Feeling the burn.
@r€nato: Congrats and thanks for the laugh…made me look!

Congrats to RedKitten. Also. (actually didn’t know she was looking, just thought she was on maternity leave).

@Bad Horse’s Filly: I did a paltry 15 miles yesterday and was wiped out. The worst part? I bought a trainer in December and only used it once all winter. I could be in prime riding shape, but noooooooo.

I climbed a very small mountain yesterday. Mountain, even very small, is a bit of a stretch. Really more half a mountain, since the ledges on Rattlesnake are halfway to the east peak. Had I not got started to late I would have gone to the top, but the 1,000 ft gain hike was fun anyway.
Bad Horse's Filly
@debit: Yeah for you! I think 15 is great.
Usually here in sunny Colorado I can get at least one ride in a week during the winter, but I hadn’t been able to ride since before Christmas (I’m not hardcore and the weather’s been miserable). My first ride out I went 25 miles, got home and knew I was going to pay for it. The next day I could hardly walk, my legs and gluts were so sore.

Congrats redkitten!
Hopefully this week will end better than it began.
Good vibes to all jobseekers.

In no one was looking, every day seems to ratchet up the nutter reliance on violent metaphors to make their political points. We have heard it before from the likes of Bachmann and Steve King et al, but it is apparently spreading across the entire wingnuttosphere to even so called sensible goopers.
This is not an anomaly and I think this kind of imagery of violence describes undercurrents in the right wing psyche. It is the kind of response most Americans would have if in fact we were being invaded by a foreign power. Of course we aren’t, unless you count increasing numbers of minority American citizens legally able to vote. This diversity has been and still is what America is about, a land of immigrants of all shapes sizes and colors, and the wingers were mostly ok with it, until now that it is threatening their entitlement notions of permanent rulers of this nation.
It is dangerous mindset from people feeling that something of great value to them is being lost and will continue as the natural order of things in a free country that has long prided itself as a melting pot of the previously forlorned tired hungry masses.
It is why I think the twisted logic that democracy is fine, so long as it doesn’t threaten the rightful rulers of that democratic realm. We see it in little rebellions every day, like the tea baggers, like the loose talk of secession and crazy ass Bachmann today saying we don’t have to follow no Obamacare laws.
And now even Lindsey Graham gets in on the act with the drunken seppuku blather. What he and they are really saying is something has to be done that may be drastic, in order to save OUR country. It is the kind of talk of tyrants who conduct brutality in the name of protecting the well scrubbed citizenry.

@debit:
Look at the bright side: at least there’s somewhere to throw the snow now. Seems like only two weeks ago that the snowbanks were so high that the snow just fell back into the driveway again.

The new Clash of the Titans remake looks pretty good.

The job to which I was supposed to go back is evaporating in May. So, the way things are working out, I won’t get my entire year off with SamKitten, but at least we’ll be able to put food in his chubby little belly.
Nice to see a Casey-centric episode. He’s been underutilized as of late.

@General Egali Tarian Stuck:
Bachmann is losing it big time. She’ll be in the rubber room before the next elections if she doesn’t go on a murdering spree before then. Check out this picture.
Palin and Bachmann are both headlining a GOP rally in Minneapolis on April 7. That should be fun because, you know, Minneapolis is such a conservative city.

Any idea where to get the pills that Chuck took?

@Bad Horse’s Filly: Well, 15 used to be my regular “long way” commute home that would leave me pleasantly warmed up and relaxed. Gotta build back up to it again, I guess. I envy your 25 and even your soreness. Man, I want my bikes back from the shop so I can go out again.

@General Egali Tarian Stuck:
If I’m not mistaken, Michael Moore is advocating the same thing on Olbmermann (Lawrence O’Donnell). I just tuned in to Rachel and caught the end of the interview. I could be wrong.
And JD Hayworth is on TRMS.

Heck, I’m used to making things swell…
Waka, waka, waka!
General Egali Tarian Stuck
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: Doesn’t surprise me coming from Moore, he can be a nut sometimes as well.
I think what they are referring to is the odd way dems and Pelosi are moving towards using what they call the Slaughter Rule, and some other parliamentary trickery, to pass the final bill without a formal vote. Though they will likely vote on the reconciliation package. It is arcane and goofy, but also something the House wingnuts used themselves with former rules guy David Dreier. It is not illegal and the wingers are crying but, but, not on something that is one sixth of the economy drivel.
Same crying by senate wingers on the reconciliation fixes, which is actually much smaller than what they did with it on Welfare Reform and Medicare leg. in the 90’s, not to mention Bush’s historic large tax cuts for rich people. Let the fuckers whine, Nancy will collect their delicious tears and save them for consumption by all those folks that will now get Health Insurance and stay above ground, with no thanks to any who vote against this HCR bill.
RedKitten
Oh, and Chuck definitely was great, as usual.
Fave bit: how indignant Chuck was when the bad guys claimed to be the Gas Company, and Chuck’s all, “I’m the Gas Company!”

@debit: The arrogance is overwhelming, isn’t it. “I did nothing wrong.” These people are deluded about their intelligence, their importance, their nobility, etc.
Massa and Edwards are different in degree, not in kind.

I wasn’t unemployed, but today was my first day at a new job…so that’s sorta “newly employed.”
I’m also probably the first person in 2010 to move to Michigan for a job.
Xenos
My best and most optimistic reading of the situation is the Pelosi and the leadership are just throwing tons of chaff in the air so the K Street does not know who to put the squeeze on. There are probably five acceptable routes to get this bill passed, and they are rotating through them all. Pelosi seems to have the initiative, and while nobody knows how she is going to get it done, she seems very confident.
It would be nice to see a deft mindfuck being pulled off. Not too transparent, but in this battle transparency is overrated.

@General Egali Tarian Stuck:
Oh no, they were never ok with it. Going back to those damn dirty Irish, Jews, and Eye-talians. And the Chinese. All the fears that the white race was going to be out-bred. Etc., etc. The ferocity of their fear/rage, and the manner in which they have expressed it, have varied. But the xenophobia/racism runs deep in our history.
General Egali Tarian Stuck
@Betsy: I am talking about recent decades at least since the 60’s voting and civil rights bills were passed that the GOP at large has made efforts to attract minorities. Though you are right that many in it’s right wing base personally are racist;/xenophobes and never signed on to those efforts. My point is that now, since GWB, the GOP power structures have been about completely coopted by those folks and they now project racism and xenophobia as an unwritten plank in the party platform. The election of Obama pretty much was the last nail in that coffin, that has slowly been built since Nixon and the southern strategy.
Ancient xenophobia in this country was not all that left right ideology and was largely for economic and cultural reasons and the large influxes of immigrants that upset the economic status quo of those times, I think. Though good ole American racism was also a part of that.

You got that right…
Outside in the broader world beyond their limited horizon, is a complex world filled with “the other”, Asians, Africans, all sorts of brown people and people, people working hard, loving their families and children and making sacrifices so that subsequent generations can prosper. They could care less about these people and their irrelevant and shrinking world.
That said, General, I fully appreciate their danger to us and the instability they present born of fear and culture shock. There is no way to ignore it or to mitigate it with rational thought and calm…it just has to run its course

Man, I should NOT read open threads before I have watched the Chuck on my DVR. (We are going to stop watching if Jayne is off the show, my desire to stab the remaining characters will become overwhelming.)
