An update on the Balloon Juice store:
I have just learned that the commissions generated from the Balloon Juice Online Store for Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue (with Little Bitsy being one of our shining star rescues) have passed the $500 mark for the first two weeks of being online. Thanks to the loyal Balloon Juice followers and animal lovers that amount of money will vaccinate, spay/neuter and Heartworm test nine rescued shelter animals. Or will be used for Heartworm treatments so often needed in the rural areas of NC, for Parvo treatment also prevalent in our shelter puppies, and for other medical issues such as worm medicines, blood work, x-rays, antibiotics, and a multitude of other medical needs. We also at times have to help our local rescue volunteers with gas money for transports and overnight stays. This is a wonderful blessing for the animals in Transylvania County, NC.
Wish I had adequate works to express my gratitude for this happening and your support for animal rescue.
And hopefully we will have more people enter the Charlie’s Angels logo contest. Lots of goodies for the winner…

Well done, folks! And I hope you enjoy your merchandise!
Thanks to Laura W., Ahab, and the many others who made this happen.

I haz me a Lily pad, gonna indulge myself in a few clothing items in the upcoming days. I’m glad that we are able to help even in a small way.

Cole, just got my logo mousepad and Tunch BJ polo. Fucking amazed at the high quality.
gogol's wife
As I said in the last thread, I got my Tunch mousepad and a Lily apron for my husband today. They’re beautiful!

Good job! I was hoping there might be an update like this somewhere down the line. Nothing succeeds like success, and telling us we’re being successful is definitely good for business. An apron, a ball cap, and a tote bag are on my list for future purchases. The thong purchase was a real hit with the individual I had it sent to, as was the journal sent to someone else. The BJStore was truly inspired on your part, Cole. A tip of the brew in my hand to your continued success.

Just an off the wall, unfiltered, and unedited thought… Could be there are elements of the BJLexicon that might be worked into items in the BJStore… ???

That’s awesome!! $500 goes incredibly far for animals. I volunteer sometimes with the Humane Society and I see how far even a few bucks goes!
Well done!

I’ve received my DIAF Tunch Mug (OMG it is the whip!) and my also-awesome Tunch “Feed” apron.
I’ll take pictures, I promise. But really, people, this stuff is cool. And I’m so pleased with the quality!

I was just thinking the same thing. A framed wall poster with the lexicon on it would definitely be hanging in my apt.

Long-time lurker – finally decided to pop to the store and take a look … the DIAF mug make me chortle like a surly teen – a perfect way to start each day. Well done – an order is being placed now.

My Obey sweatshirt is go-to for the weekends since I got it. Pleasure to help.

I would again like to hawk my wares of The Chicago Way pizza crust kits $2.99, the fruit of which is currently being consumed with much enjoyment, and custom Haikus $20, the quality of which has kind of stopped Katrina vanden Heuvel’s thread at the Washington Post.
I have also received a safety spirit award at The Facility for one of these Haiku’s, so you know they are worth the price, just in terms of potential career advancement.
This is why we should talk partnership.

Ordered an apron as a gift for a friend. Should be arriving any day now. Can’t wait to see it!

@Sentient Puddle:
How about a mug that says:
Coffee first, then I get to skullfuck a kitten!
I am going to order a couple of mugs and three bowls for teh kittehs here but first I am trying to talk the wifey into a Tunch thong. I won’t relate the jokes I have been making about it to her but it probably isn’t helping me. She prefers her Victoria’s Secret stuff. Maybe you should sell iron-on stuff too?
Either way I will be ordering from the store within the next week or so. I don’t give up easy and I think a Tunch thong would be a great addition to her ‘unmentionables’.
Good job on the store peeps and even better that the proceeds are going to good use!
mr. whipple
Well done, everyone, for making this possible.
I’ll vouch for Cafe Press…the stuff I got was high quality and it was packed well and shipped pronto.

I would buy anything with the Dog in Bukkit Going Galt. LOL.
I’ve worn my BJ long sleeved tee everywhere so far, but it’s going to have to wait until it gets warmer here in the seventh circle of weather hell known as Boston before it’s more widely seen. I’m waiting for the first person who comes up and identifies themselves by their posting name or as a lurker. I suspect we’re legion.

Bravo for Balloon Juice, Laura and Ahab and those who bought stuff. At some point I plan to be one. As for Heartworm treatment, I went through two of those with a couple of Border Collies in KY. They use Strychnine and it is usually touch and go whether the dog survives the treatment. Both of mine did, but on one, he had it so bad, it brought tears to watch him struggle. The vet told me that as the poison attacks and kills the worms, the worms get very animated inside the heart and sometimes before they die, they disrupt heart function long enough to kill the pet. No heartworm out here in the SW, thank the FSM. But do have to get Parvo shots and boosters.

To anyone who bought the shirts, do they run big or small on a given size? Need to know if I should by large or XL.
Thanks!

@Gordon, The Big Express Engine:
I depends, I normally wear a men’s medium size, but my wardrobe has been getting a bit tight over the last couple years, so I got the Men’s golf shirt (polo) in Large, and it fits me exactly like my other medium size polos. As far as shirts, I’d go 1-2 sizes higher.

@Cat Lady: You’re correct of course. The quote should be “We are the Tunch.” My bad. I hope I don’t get swiped with a paw now. :)

I ordered my pet pornography at the BJStore days and days ago but I still haven’t received my DVD of “The Adventures of Barin’ Tünchhausen”.

I’m going to overshare a little, but I have a medical-related question…
Tomorrow, I have to do a 24-hour pee collection thing related to regular diabetes monitoring, BUT, I can’t imagine watching the hockey game without having a couple Blue Moon’s.
So, is it bad to drink beer when you’re turning in your pee for testing?
This whole process is new to me and frankly, a little disturbing.
RedKitten
@Mark S.:
Here’s some info on the design of the medals.
JenJen
@RedKitten: As an American, I don’t much care for that statistic. And, it’s a bit nuts. ;-)
I’m still loving these games, and congratulations, our gracious Olympic hosts!
Also too: @RedKitten: You go, Canada! And please, drink beer, champagne, smoke weed, whatever.. you won Olympic Gold and I think you should party on and the nannies should STFU, at least until they win Gold for their country.
There’s still tomorrow… and you know tomorrow is what matters. Damn, it’s gonna be great, isn’t it? So glad it comes down to this, I really am. Regardless of the tears of our gracious hosts. ;-)
Laura W
@phoebes-in-santa fe: That’s incredibly kind of you. I don’t think they are set up for Paypal, but it’s a great suggestion I will pass along.
Would it be possible for you to send a check? I know a couple of commenters did that during the Little Bitsy competition and it was so appreciated.

Just got back from dinner, feeling a wee bit embarrassed because I was going to pay tonight…and walked out of the house without my wallet! OOPS!
General Egali Tarian Stuck
@Max: LOL. I doubt it is good to drink beer for pee testing. Done the 24 hour pee catch thingy many times, but for kidney function. Though I am fairly certain it is the same as mine for volume/titration formula for concentration of whatever they are testing for. Beer makes you pee more hence more pee and more volume that could skew results. I am guessing since not a doctor. But seems like a no brainer to me.
mr. whipple
@Yutsano:
Oldest trick in the book!
Yutsano
@Max: Usually before a test like that they tell you what you should and should not drink. If they didn’t say don’t drink it then you should be fine. I’m trying to recall what alcohol does to blood sugar/glucose levels (one would think with two parents who are diabetics I should know this!) but yeah you should be okay.

@jenniebee: Code Monkey has kittens? Awww…
That song has always troubled me, actually — too much of the coder stalking secretary stereotype for my blood. But I love it all the same, if only because of “boring manager Rob”, for whom I believe I must have worked at some time, too.

Good thing there are charities like this to look after the poor critters…

@Yutsano: Oooooh! Synchronicity. I left the house without my wallet, too, for taiji class. Which is next to my coop. Fortunately, my teacher had gone to the coop, too, and floated me a loan until tonight (she had her demo).
@jeffreyw: And yet, it still looks delicious. Those poor dogs, though (in your later comment). I hate that shit.
And, I have worn my OBEY sweatshirt quite often. It’s cozy and comfy, and I get to have Tunchie close to my heart. I also wear the Tunch BJ longsleeve shirt, but that’s dirty already. As for the OBEY thong? Well, haven’t had the opportunity yet. All the stuff is high quality.

@phoebes-in-santa fe: That’s so great. I emailed Evelyn a bit ago and mentioned this, strongly supporting her in getting a Paypal account asap.
Many thanks!
