Sen. Bond is on the Daily Rundown, and Chuck Todd and others are giving him a tough time, and he looks like a doddering old fool. The question I have is whether or not democrats are going to push back against this jackass?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I kid.

I haven’t been following it closely, but I thought Brennan had come out swinging against the Republicans the other day.

TIME’s Massimo Calabresi points out that there is pushback, but it’s not only going against Republicans but against all True America:
GIVE IN! DON’T PUT ANYONE ON TRIAL! JUST TORTURE AND THEN SHOOT ANYBODY THE GUBMIT SAYS IS A SUSPECT FOR TERROR! ALSO STOP ALL THE OPPRESSIVE BIG GUBMIT AND CHICAGO STYLE OBAMA POLITICKS!
Rick Taylor
Off topic, but this tirade by Rachel Maddow against Republicans is devastating, and should be seen by as many people as possible. It’s even better than Obama’s take down of Republicans. Devastating.

I had just broke my rule and listened to that worthless shitbag tell enough lies to last a month from chickenshit wingnut fainting daisies. Glad that pig fucker is retiring, but we will probly just get Roy Blunt who is just as bad but doesn’t produce as much spittle. My teevee is off again, thank goodness.

Snowstorm in nyc has me stuck at home today reacquainting myself with how infuriating daytime political coverage is. That interview was a fine example. Kit Bond looks and sounds like a crazy person, but there is no Democratic senator showing up on my teevee to respond to him.

GWS- agreed. There is no way this state is going to have 2 Dems in the senate.

The new Jane Mayer article “The Trial” in the new New Yorker makes clear that the charging of Private Underpants in civilian court as opposed to enemy combatant was a big factor in Brown’s victory as he used it to whip his followers into a nativist frenzy.
So we have a situation where the most significant social reform legislation since Medicare has been derailed by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s failed attempt to kill or injure anyone. Tell me that Al Qaeda has not won?

He is definitely trying to move the old “Overton Window” to off-the-chart right. This makes my blood boil that this piece of shit was quiet all during W’s reign, but now it is not tough enough to do what Bush did. Those are the guidelines that Holder is following. There is absolutely nothing new here except the GOP thinks it will get them elected. They could care less if we are safe or not. Peter King is also outraged that Brennan would dare chastise him. Actually, Brennan was very Bush-like at times. “It only helps al Qaeda.” Oh, no he didn’t. I expect him to say “The terrorists win when the GOP whines next.” Maybe Brennan was a little over the top, but he certainly looked sincere and frankly he looks tough. I always feel safer after I listen to him.

@bob h:
Actually Brown’s line they always show is something like–we need to spend more money on weapons to kill terrorists, not on attorneys to defend them. Thus, even unheard of, NO ATTORNEY for terrorists. It just never ends with these people.

@bob h: Al-Quaeda won when W was sworn in as president. It’s just that no one realized it yet.

Shoot, when I saw he was going to be on I turned off the TV. I couldn’t listen to his crazy and I was sure there would be no pushback. Oh well.

Watched the segment and was pleasantly surprised when Savannah Guthrie gave him the business over his blatant hypocrisy. Haven’t seen real journalism in awhile, so it was rather refreshing.
meh
anyone have a link for that?

Did Bond ever give a reason why “Brennan should resign,” or was it just left to us all to grasp that anybody who publicly and repeatedly makes a fool of Kit Bond should not have a job?
Sentient Puddle
Yeah, caught it this morning too and was pleasantly surprised to see that Savannah Guthrie was for once doing more than being eye candy. Not that I’m expecting a trend to emerge, but for now, I’ll at least raise a glass to her for calling Bond out pretty consistently on his shit.
@General Winfield Stuck:
Actually, I doubt it. Carnahan is from a popular dynasty in Missouri. Blunt also has a bit of a dynasty: a son who was an unpopular governor up to 2006. Between Blunt and Carnahan, Blunt is just the wrong kind of candidate for this cycle.

I wish I could understand your ground rules John.
Is it ok to bash “Democrats” generically, but not to bash any specific Democrat?
Welcome to the fight for, erm, “Fighting Dems” that take on the GOP. It’s one that has been going on for years.
A lot of your critiques aimed at people who argue for this seems dissonant from this post. I am not following your narrative at this point.

Bond’s been drinking again.

@Sentient Puddle:
VoteVets has already been on the air in MO jumping on Blunt. Primary is only 6 months away.

What do you expect from Teddy K.’s best drinkin’ buddy? And being from Mid-Missouri myself, I was heartened when I was back there over Christmas to see many bumper stickers that say “Blunt is not sharp.” They are in reference to the “boy Governor” Matt Blunt, but I think they speak volumes about his daddy, as well. I think Robin Carnahan will join Claire McCaskill as the second Democratic senator from MO to bear 2 X chromosomes.
We shall see. I need to look and see how Nate Silver has the MO race shaping up. My wingnut cousins are all tea-partiers, so they aren’t the best source for reliable commentary on MO politics.
