So we can expect at least five or six posts posted through a surgery induced haze tomorrow night?

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Good that Mom is taking care of you.
Try to stay away from anything politics related; it is not conducive to healing.
KDP
Take care of yourself, and I hope the surgery is effective and results in no additional problems during or after.
Seanly
Did you get to re-stretch the carpet?
Good luck with surgery.
El Cid
Good luck John. Take liquor.
Laura
Best wishes for a swift, smooth recovery.

Shit, finally, John’s gone galt. Bet you, he’ll twitter from the operating table.

@El Cid:
take care. we all will be waiting for John +__ in a day or so.

Hopefully, your surgeon isn’t one of Kos’ kids. I’m just catching up on that whole thing.
I successfully got out of a 4-week jury duty (murder in Oakland) for hardship related to work. Lady Justice will have to take a raincheck, I’ve got work to do.
Godspeed for a full recovery. Stay away from the morphine pump drip thing. No bueno.
PurpleGirl
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Just in time for the State of the Union.
Can you *believe* that Obama is giving his speech on the same day that Apple announces their Tablet? I mean, Obama has only been The Messiah for a couple of years. Steve Jobs has been filling that position for decades now; you’d think a little courtesy would be warranted.

All the best!
In the harsh moments, just think of Lily and Tunch.

Good luck with your surgery, John. Hope your shoulder is in hippie neck punching form soon.
MikeJ
I expect to see a picture of Cole wearing a cone so he doesn’t lick his stitches.

Best of luck with Surgery, Cole. If you get a bit skittish in Pre-op, have them give you some Versed to snow you over. It’s not like “Oh man, this is a great drug!” but it’ll definitely wipe your ass out and you’ll wake up in PACU like you just time-travelled there.

@MikeJ: FTW. Close this thread.

Oh yes, the “cone of shame” ;) Best of luck!

@gwangung: First post, and you nail it.
Good luck, Cole. Sending you many positive vibes and a white light to get you through the surgery. Please have Tammy keep us updated, ok? OK!
And, of course, TUNCH!

Good luck Mr. Cole! Get yerself some good drugs this time and the whole thing will be a soft hazy blur. I had spine surgery last year so I knowz.

Good luck with your surgery, John. Hope everything goes well!

Good thing your mom is there. Best of Recoveries!
J.W. Hamner
Good luck with your surgery!
At the very least Mass Effect 2 looks awesome, so that should lighten your recovery… though maybe you won’t be able to play it if you’ve only got one working shoulder, making said recovery all the more agonizing. Hmmmm.

Good luck tomorrow! Any cute nurses in WV?
When I had my broken pinky fixed in 08, the anesthesiologist was a really cute young Asian woman. Wish I’d got a number, or at least a name.
Violet
Good luck with the surgery, John! Glad Mom is there to take care of you. Was she impressed with your clean house and fresh shower curtain?
South of I-10
I hope for a very successful surgery and quick recovery. Take care of yourself.

CNN can bitch & moan about the stimulus not creating jobs, but how about next time Republicans push through a horribly regressive tax cut they go through the same amount of douchebag handwringing about how many jobs the tax cut creates.
Delia
Best of luck, John, to you and your mom.
And once you manage to prop open your laptop again, here’s something completely nonpolitical to while away the hours.
The shiba inu puppy cam is back!!!! With brand new puppies.

Good luck with the surgery and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Adding to the general sentiment, Lady Smudge and I send our best wishes for a quick recovery. I’m betting you won’t be feeling up to blogging on Wednesday.

Good wishes coming your way for a quick and painless recovery!

All the best for your surgery, cause, y’know, if it doesn’t work out right, Lily and Tunch will just think of you as ‘lunch’.
Be strong, mon brave …
goblue72
I hope Tunch doesn’t eat Lilly while you are gone.
JPK
Hope all goes well with your surgery, and speedy recovery.

Best, John. Speedy recovery.

Hi John’s Mom! And best of recoveries, etc. to all concerned (I’m counting at least 4, plus possibly the shower curtain.
KCinDC
Get well soon! Here’s hoping that when you emerge from surgery the health care landscape will be looking a lot better. That would speed your recovery.
CynDee
John, I think you must be a real peach, getting things all nice for your Mom’s stay.
Everyone will be thinking of you both and sending all good wishes for the best possible outcome. Pats to Lily and Tunch, oh, and you, too, John.
Hi, Mom! Loved the way you filmed your doggies drying themselves on your beautiful blue couch. I still watch it every now and then. It lifts me up; It’s a classic. So’s your boy — you raised him well.
Cat Lady
Good luck John! We’ll be good.*

Ok, I’m number 45 or whatever saying it, but that fact does not make it any less sincere:
Good luck, man! I hope it goes smoothly and your recovery as well.
Dulcie
Good luck tomorrow, John. Please rest and don’t be afraid to take your pain medication. They give it to you for a reason!
I’m glad your mom will be there with you. I’ll be sending positive energy your way.

Glad to here Mom is taking care of you. Hi from all us juicers!
Good luck and speed recovery John. Lily will be waiting at the door. Tunch, well, he might notice you’re gone.

Good luck, John!

Best, JC. Hope you feel 100% better when the Docs are done fixing up the damage. Glad Mom is there, we are always the best for taking care of our sick or injured kiddies, no matter how ADULT they are.
Don’t try to get back too soon, my friend, let the lovely pain relievers do their job. And make sure they give you enough-no being stingy with a surgery.
Mary
Best of luck John. And bringing the great writer Dengre on to Balloon Juice was a fantastic choice.
Tax Analyst
Hope you make the cut on that surgery thing, JC, and end up with a brand new, shiny, functional, pain-free shoulder and all when it’s over. Then Best Wishes for your speedy recovery afterwards.
Carrie
I was hoping your Mom would be the new front page poster…oh well.
Speedy recovery to you, you’ll be missed.

Good luck with the surgery. Be well!
Tsulagi
Good luck!
If I were you, though, I wouldnât go into that hospital torture chamber full of jihadi doctors unless packing. Hate those places. At least write âfix thisâ on your injured shoulder. Might stand a better chance while youâre under they fix the correct one.
GregB
Good luck. Stay away from the death panels.

OH…and when you get home check to make sure one of those fun-loving hospital employees hasn’t printed “This End Up” on your buttocks.
Comrade Mary
If you were still a Republican, I’d be very worried about the loose ends you were tying up.
Good luck with the surgery! Make sure they have some warm blankets for you in the OR as they get you set up for anaesthesia. The few seconds between transfer from the gurney and going under are much improved by comfy covers.
And — hi, John’s Mom! Nice to kind of almost meet you.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It’s the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here’s a happy one for you.

Good luck John, and many regards to your mother. Does she think of the blog as another stray pet you’ve picked up? At any rate, I’ll be thinking of you during your surgery and sending good thoughts your way. Try try try to take it easy. The world will keep on turning even if your fans refresh the site every twenty minutes looking for word.

Elizabelle
You are going to brief us on your dad’s solo life with the JRTs, no? Could Mom be heading home soon to deal with another pet-related injury?
trollhattan
Mazel tov and best wishes for a team of really good looking nurses. Also too. Instruct Lily to intervene if she spots Tunch approaching you with a pillow once you’re back home. They’ll do thatâtry and grab the alpha perch when you’re weakest, you know.

If you stand with your face to the wind off the water
At the point of lands end where the ocean begins
Look to the memory of the ones gone before
The light and meaning of the voices on the wind

OT: did anyone ever find out if Dana Priest is still with the Washington Post? Appears she’s not had an article up since November 12.
She’s such a good reporter, and the Post has become so mediocre.
Inquiring mind.
AhabTRuler
@aimai: But Mom, they followed me home! Can’t we keep them?
They’re like Verizon, only scruffier!
Good luck, John. Ask the Doctor if he’s a Republican, it worked for Reagan.
gogol's wife
Good luck, Mr. Cole. We’ll be thinking of you.

@Elizabelle: Have you tried calling or emailing?

Good luck John. Hope eveything goes well tomorrow.

Peace, love and cool pharmacological induced dreams.
And get better soon before the GOSers find out you are wounded. They attack the weak.

@MikeJ: Yes, the cone of shame must be worn and documented. Come back to us soon, all bolted and screwed and plated. Good luck.

John,
Even though I’m an agnostic, my thought and prayers are with you. You’re going to be fine. Next time though, no ‘drinking liberally’ before taking out the dog!
I look forward to your first post-surgery post, post. Or, something to that effect…
Anne Laurie
@gwangung:
Don’t encourage the poor man to push himself and do further damage! Now, encouraging John’s Mom or Tammy to put up a post describing Cole’s no-doubt-awesome babblings while under the influence of the anesthesia… that’s a whole different story…
SiubhanDuinne
I’m still trying to figure out how one “ties up loose ends” with one hand.
John, I left you a message next thread up but it’s worth saying twice: I hope everyting goes really well tomorrow (I know it will) and that your recovery is fast and complete and as painless as possible. We’ll look forward to updates and welcome you back raucously when you’re good and ready to be welcomed.
HRA
Good luck, John. Follow orders from the medicals and get well soon.

What Dulcie said about the pain meds. This ain’t the time to be macho. Pain actually interferes with healing. Expect the surgery will be the easy part – may it be totally unremarkable. The rehab, on the other hand… Well, I expect we’ll hear about that in due course.
Blessings on your Mom for being willing to play “catcher’s mitt” for you and your critters. Thanks John-Cole’s-Mom for taking care if this irascible character for us. At least I don’t think he’ll yell at you as much. ;-)
Sarah in Brooklyn
good luck! looking forward to your return.

Good luck, John.

I know you’re a bad ass and all John, but I don’t think you’re going to feel like being in the saddle on Wednesday.
Glad your mom’s there, and sending good thoughts for the procedure tomorrow.

Hope everything goes well, John, don’t try to rush yourself.
