At Home

Made it home in one piece, and am now watching a couple of Jack Russell Terriers run around with a Bull Mastiff while Lily sits on various laps observing.

Was just wondering how the Progressive jihad was going- have we advanced to suicide bombings and delinking yet? Is Bernie Sanders still a corporate whore? Have No Quarter and Hillary is 44 weighed in yet? Any more push polling and fund-raising?

My question is, how much does What’s happening at FDL matter in the grand scheme? We see it, and cable news sees it to some extent, but we’re a tight little tribe here. Is there any impact beyond this corner of the blogosphere?

Well, I personally got an email from the President telling me that the Senate vote was an historic moment and that in Decembers to come, millions more will have access to affordable health care! That when we make calls, write letters, organize, the change we’re making is a better life for our family and for men and women in every state! And that he’s grateful to me for all I’ve done to get us this far, and that he will need my help every step of the way to make the reform dealio into law.

I really should tell him to stop writing. What will Michelle think?

I’ve been busy for the past few days and haven’t had a chance to read this site as much as I’d like, so perhaps someone has suggested like this already. Either way, let me ask, why would the fact that people are forced to buy private insurance mean the market is going to be propped up when it would otherwise come cascading down? If the market itself is slowly collapsing, wouldn’t several millions of new customers, some of whom would the people that private insurance firms are loathe to sign up, just add to the weight? Couldn’t they be the straw that breaks the camel’s back?

Interesting observation. I keep bringing up the Maryscott O’Connor references but she’s one of three people/sites that Hamsher/FDL remind me of:

    Maryscott O’Connor (My Left Wing)

    Armando–Big Tent Democrat (Talk Left)

    No Quarter (Larry Johnson)

    FDL (Jane Hamsher)

  38. 38

I got the Obama email today. So far, this is pretty much what I voted for and expected.

As Festivus presents go, this is a pretty good one so far. I am still reading up on the Senate bill summaries and the comparos between Senate and House versions. Hopefully by the time the conference process gets underway and the daily manipulations and demagogueriness begin in January, I will be prepared for them.

Meanwhile I have a rental house to fix up and get ready for a new tenant, some surgery to prepare for, and other stuff I need to do. Looking forward to not having to deal with this “progressive meltdown” bullshit for a while.

Jane Hamsher seems like a well meaning person, but for all I know, Sarah Palin is a well meaning person. So there you go.

The camel’s nose is under the tent. That is the way I am looking at it, next will be his foot. This is just a start. I for one look forward to the other four legs and the butt. Right now DH and I are looking at being 20K in debt due to co-pays, deductibles, etc., no-one should have to face bankruptcy because they became sick, and that is exactly what DH and I are facing right now. Other than that we opened two presents this evening. DH and I bought each other (without knowing it) identical jammies (blue and black checks), and Cueball is sleeping with his latest squeaky toy (which he had been trying to sneakily unwrap since 3pm when I wrapped it), I watched the Christmas special of The Vicar of Dibley (I adore Dawn French), and then a Doctor Who Christmas special. Right now sipping on a surprisingly nice australian shiraz for $3.97 a bottle. Happy whatever it is you celebrate people.

    Midnight Marauder says:

Is it? Do you have links to blowup? I want to see. I am so lonely and bored.

Sadly, I have no links for you and my comment was one made mostly out of observing the anti-Jane pushback that has sprung up very recently at the GOS and then perusing through this thread over at FDL:

So You Want To Defend Rahm on Fannie/Freddie

Right, Jane. That’s what people are taking objection with. Fool. The one thing I’m enjoying about all this is that anytime someone challenges her in one of her diaries (along the lines of “Wow, what you’re doing is pretty fucking stupid”), she immediately responds with some variation of this:

So what do you think about Rahm’s time on the Fannie/Freddie board?

That’s it. That’s her entire endgame, apparently. Any criticism she gets about slumming it up with Grover Fucking Norquist results in “But what do you think about what Rahm did on the board of Freddie?” I guess that is what’s going to bring back the public option down the Obama Administration. But take a look at some of the comments from the Hamsherites circling the wagons:

The libs at kos are following the rule to attack the messenger and obfuscate the message.

I’m happy to be a part of this community, the only one that seems willing to actually stand up to Obama.
Dean has gone back, Kos has gone back..we’re the only ones still calling for the horror that is the health care bill to go down.
I’ve never been so discourages to see so many so called “progressives” be willing to give such crap a pass. And To see so many be willing to ignore things like this Frannie/Freddie connection.

dkos is becoming increasely hostile to those posters who are progressives first and democrats second.

After lurking around here for a while, the stuff happening over at Kos inspired me to register. What is going on over there, what is being written is beyond belief.

Jane was just mentioned on Fox. They’re working on getting a response from the White House.

This will not end well at all for Dear Jane.

    Poor Jane.

Problem is that the bonus problem was investigated during the Bush years, not once, but *three* times. I mean, come on, don’t you know that administration wanted to get anyone who was associated with both the poor and Clinton? Each time, the conclusion came back that there had been crooks, but that none of the other directors had been among them.

Emmanuel no longer has a financial interest in Fannie or Freddie, so that story doesn’t hold together either.

She’s simply decided that since Rahm got what he wanted, she’d get him, by any means possible.

    Roger Moore says:

The Wii is designed to be adult fool proof to set up. There are only about 3 physical connectors to attach, and each one is different so you can’t plug them into the wrong sockets. The trickiest bit as I remember it is that the sensor bar can be configured to go either above or below the TV, and the controls you need to reconfigure it are hard to work if you get it backward. So if you find you’re having a hard time moving the hand around on the screen, it may be because the sensor bar is at the bottom but wants to be at the top or vice versa.
