Ha! That is really cute. I voted!
Anyone have anything funny to share? I could use a laugh or ten.
asiangrrlMN
OK. My edit button disappeared, so I will have to add a new comment. A bleg: Anyone not otherwise affiliated, please root for the Twins to win their game today against the Tigers so they can be swept by the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs.

I just voted! Can we book Bitsy on Colbert?
Yesterday I saw something on one of Bitsy’s ads on the left column that says she’s in the Top 30 dogs. What’s that about? I didn’t see a link for Top 30 dogs on the website.

BTW. Dylan Ratigan is dismantling former NY L. Governor and uber wingnut anti health reformer Betsy McCaughey this morning. That lady is some piece of work.
Warren Terra
Technically this isn’t off topic, because this is an Open Thread:
The SadlyNauts (specifically D. Aristophanes) have an epic post, a fisking of a column that begins:
Zoolatry's Ann
How ’bout the BITSY BUMP… let’s bump S.C. el dos and Mozart right off the charts this week.
asiangrrlMN
@Warren Terra: Dude, that isn’t even remotely funny!
But, SadlyNo! is funny, so I forgive you.
Violet
@asiangrrlMN:
I haven’t followed baseball at all, but I’ll cheer for the Twins. I’ve got family in the Twin Cities area. The Twins are always my second favorite team. Go Twins!
Zoolatry's Ann
Let’s get the BITSY BUMP going this week and bump
S.C. el dos & Mozart right off the chart.

Jesus. I am staying the fuck away from Cherryvale Kansas during cross country trips.
Actually, what am I worried about? I’m white. Better leave any non-lily hued friends at home though.

Done. Been doing every day. Go Bitsy!

Anybody wondering how the whole GOP strategery of running Patraeus against Obamadenijad in 2012 is going now that he has cancer?

@Violet: Thanks! They need all the help they can get.

@Violet:
It’s a tricky site to navigate, for sure. But here is the link to the Top 30. You go in via Cutest Gallery tab.
Here are the results of Week 9 Competition via Evelyn Bridges’ email last night. Evelyn is the lady who rescued her and is founding her own non-profit – Animal Rescuer Extraordinaire. Bitsy was 4th last week, which is tremendous, but in any given week it takes 3,000-4,000 to win lately. However, with Mozart and Colbert pooch out of the mix now, it clears the way for Bitsy to take it with perhaps less than 4800. Or so I hope?

@geg6: My initial reaction is that this is a relatively common and easily treatable form of cancer, so unless, God forbid, there are complications, I doubt this will be much of an issue.
MikeJ
@Ash Can: More of an issue will be finding out if he’s a republican or a democrat.

Hey, for all those who were wondering about why the Steelers are called the Stillers…a little bit of fun with the Pittsburgh accent and vernacular:

@General Winfield Stuck:
Dylan Ratigan has been a big pleasant surprise most mornings since he’s been sprung from CNBC. He’s made Scarborough squirm a couple of times talking about who the real culprits are in this economy. He won’t do the “everyone is to blame for their bad choices” false equivalency, which makes Mika sad.

RE: The Planet of the Apes and Missile Death
Here is a monkey who throws rocks at tourists. There are times when I can emphasize with this monkey. This is a primitive form of missile death.
This monkey, whose ancestors learned this skill, and survived competition with monkeys who probably could not throw rocks, or who could throw rocks with less accuracy or strength than this monkey’s ancestors. This is something called ‘Evolution’.
I kind of like this monkey and if we could have a beer together, perhaps he would stop throwing rocks at tourists. In Any Which Way but Loose, Clint Eastwood’s monkey drank beer and they got along great.
Jefferson writes in this remarkable letter to Adams about how gunpowder changed the nature of the evolution of man. I would argue that metal also changed the nature of evolution in men, admittedly to a lesser extent, as strength would still be a big factor in generating missile death with a spear, or an arrow.
In the case of gunpowder, muscle force is replaced by chemicals, expanding the importance of the brain, and reducing the importance of muscles.
Thus Jefferson’s conclusion that gunpowder removed Bodily Strength and established Talent and Virtue as the determinates of those who will sit upon the top of the Natural Aristocracy of Man.

Okay, I voted. Again. This is some kinda long-running contest.
For humor, I picks this.

@geg6:
No! It is just more proof that Obama is a soshulist appeaser bowing down to his great Commie and Moozlum overlords.
Bad Horse's Filly
Thanks for the reminder John. I’m sorry to say I was so wrapped up in my own crap the last few days I’d forgotten to vote. Now that I once again have my priorities in order, I voted. Go Bitsy!
Bad Horse's Filly
@geg6: That was great.
And where did my edit buttons go? Also.

Because this is an open thread, I just wanted to mention that Terry Gross’ guest today on Fresh Air will be former Senator Max Cleland. He’s written a new memoir (subtitle is something like “How I Survived Vietnam, Walter Reed, and Karl Rove”). I know some of my fellow Georgians (talking about YOU, Demo Woman and A Mom Anon) admire Cleland and loathe the guy who frauded him out of his Senate seat in 2002, and thought you might want to make a point of listening. (Max was also on Morning Edition today. It’s funny to hear him talk about Saxby Chambliss in pretty scathing terms without once mentioning his name.)

@BoB
It’s EMPATHIZE. The word you want is empathize. Although not sure you know how to do that. Most wingers don’t.
Good try, though.
Oh! And go Bitsy! I appreciate the daily reminder on here.
Roger Moore
@geg6:
Nah. They’ll argue that it’s just because Obambi is an appeaser who sucks up to the rest of the world. Real men don’t give a damn what those effete foreigners think about us, except for the foreign evil doers who we should gratuitously piss off whenever possible. That’s the way Conservatards think.

Apparently the new Conservabible is going to be illustrated.
This is the most concentrated amalgum of wingnut philosophy that I’ve ever seen.
DougJ, are you paying attention?
EDIT: and the “College Student” in the painting is holding a copy of “The Five Thousand Year Leap”. Genius!
JenJen
Something tells me BOB’s monkey wouldn’t like BOB, either.
SiubhanDuinne
@freelancer: Oh, this is splendid. It’s hard to choose a favourite mouseover, but I think mine might be the “look of shock” on the “immigrant’s” face as he sees “Christ holding the Constitution.” But the politician on his cell phone and the kindly old family doctor are pretty cool too.
freelancer
@SiubhanDuinne:
I’m partial to Thomas “Payne” in the far left background in a picture with Jesus as King of America. That, and the mouseover of Reagan as “a true patriot of freedom”. WTF?!
SiubhanDuinne
@freelancer: The lower right (right? WTF?) corner with “Liberal News Reporter,” “Professor,” “Lawyer” (counting his $100 bills) and Others of Their Ilk is a wonderful assortment.
Also too, George Washington apparently reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Or listening to the Star-Spangled Banner. Or something. (Well, he has his hand over his heart, what else could . . . . oh wait, angina?)
geg6
@freelancer:
Did you notice that “Hollywood” looks an awful lot like Todd Palin? And the school teacher has a bit the Sarah Serendipity about her?
freelancer
@geg6:
I did note that the school teacher resembled Palin, but this game could go on a while.
The College Student looks like the nerdy gun nut who brought the AR-15 to the Obama rally.
Dolly Madison looks like Ally Sheedy.
Seriously, this painting is hilarious.
I also love how the two people without descriptions are “Business Woman” and “Satan”. I guess the nature of those two abominations to American Culture speak for themselves.
SiubhanDuinne
@freelancer: @geg6: Geez, I could play this game all day! Okay, did you read about the Fifty Stars and that they stand for the fifty states? And “some stars shine brighter than others”? I’m going out on a big limb here but I’m just going to guess those “brighter stars” stand for the “red states” where “real Americans” live.
Also, check out the
litterloose sheets of paper at the foot of the distraught Supreme Court Justice. Each of them stands for a horrible S.C. decision (“Roe v Wade,” “Marbury v Madison,” etc.)Finally, note that both Congress and the Supreme Court are shown, but if the White House is in that painting, it’s too tiny for my old eyes to find.
freelancer
@SiubhanDuinne:
Read the Interview above the top left of the painting. It pops up a new window, and this fucker of an artist won’t let you copy text or save an image, but he’s apparently too stupid to realize the “PrintScrn” key on every keyboard is a screencap to your clipboard. I’m at work right now, dammit, otherwise I’d be posting on this. Tonight for sure though.
jibeaux
Okay, that picture is hilarious. I did not realize Jesus did not approve of Marbury v. Madison.

That’s definitely Palin.
Who do we think that SCOTUS justice is? John Roberts?
Also, you know, this artist should team up with [this has been bothering me immensely…anyone remember the crazy female blogger with the lizard people and the repressed sapphic tendecies?…damn]
