The actual author of Palin’s new wingnut buckraker:
Sarah Palin’s most consequential choice since leaving the Alaska governor’s mansion may be her co-author – a staunch conservative, devoted evangelical Christian, and intensely partisan Republican from far, far outside the Beltway.
Lynn Vincent spent the summer working with Palin on a closely-guarded 400 page memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” The book is due out from HarperCollins Nov. 17 – but it shot to the top of the Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists Wednesday as word of its publication spread.
Vincent’s past projects include co-writing the memoir of General William Boykin, who blasted the media and President George W. Bush alike for ending his career over his casting the war on terror in overtly religious terms. Her most political book, “Donkey Cons,” describes the Democratic Party since its inception as “pro-gangster” and the “party of treason and subversion.” Her work for World Magazine, where she was an editor, includes a description of President Barack Obama as the “minority survivor” of the “black genocide” – that is, abortion.
This is going to be funny as hell. I can’t wait to check this out of the library- because I’ll be damned if I give the Wasilla Wingnut a penny.
I’m personally looking forward to the chapter on how to cook meth in a snowstorm using only a Bowie knife, a King James Bible, and a moose antler. Should be awesome.
Cat Lady
No thanks. I’ll wait for Levi’s book. That dude’s gonna bring the goods.

“Co-“author. I love the publishing industry.

I doubt a trip to the library will be necessary. With all the bulk buying that’ll be done you’ll probably be able to get a free copy from the Wingnut Welfare think tank of your choice.
On the other hand, they probably make you pay S&H.
Surreal American
Just curious: Wouldn’t the above description imply that B. Hussein Obama was born in the good ol’ U.S. of A.?
jrg
I can’t wait until the media starts asking Palin “gotcha” questions about the contents of “her” book.
Joshua Norton
The last 100 pages will probably be blank because she couldn’t finish that, either.
Comrade Dread
I think Thomas Jefferson would be proud of that slogan.
Get it quickly, before the Republicans win again and your evil socialist libraries are rightfully sold to Barnes and Noble and Starbucks.
gnomedad
Well, that can be your capstone for the “I read these idiots so you don’t have to” category and a true public service. I simply can’t do it. Reading these morons makes my brain hurt. It’s not the stupidity, it’s the willful ignorance and cynicism.
Warren Terra
No-one was sure whether the neoConfederate RS McCain or the neoCrusader Boykin was the more loathsome specimen, so, just to be sure, he ghost-wrote for both of them.
Heckuva pick, Sarah. Also.

@Joshua Norton:
Well the book is months ahead of schedule, I figured that was because the second half of a book is always the lame duck half, and well she wanted to make sure we weren’t reading nothing of non-importance and getting back to reading ya know, everything.

John, you need a contest for the best Amazon review of Going Rogue submitted by a BJer. As with many reviews there, reading the book is not necessary.
Don’t let Jesus’ General have all the snarking fun.

Why do wingnut books always become best sellers? It’s a serious question. Who is buying this drivel??
asiangrrlMN
As I told TBogg, I’ll rely on the lefty blogs for the shorter Palin because I simply cannot do it–or her.
maya
Going Rogue: An American Life???
Odd name for her co-authored book, especially since “rogue” was the term used by her publicyst, Meg Stapleton, to describe her enemies up in Alaska – Walt Monegan, and Mike Wooten.
She shoulda held out for her first choice – Going Commando.
SenyorDave
Her work for World Magazine, where she was an editor, includes a description of President Barack Obama as the “minority survivor” of the “black genocide” – that is, abortion.
This is so damn offensive, no one who makes a comment like this should be allowed in polite society

@Cols714: Wingnuts are like country music fans (I’d say it’s about an 85% overlap). Country music fans are the only ones who still go out en masse to buy CDs.
Matthew Hooper
@Cols714:
Oh, the Dianetics cultists have been pulling off that trick for years – L. Ron Hubbard regularly hit the NYT bestseller lists well after his death. All the talking heads fellatiate the book and tell their sheep to BUY SOME TO GIVE YOUR FRIENDS!, and in no time flat it’s a bestseller, even though no one’s actually reading the thing. Think of the waste of trees…
As for the book itself: Anyone see that ten-car pileup on NBC’s Trauma? The one involving a sexting executive, an SUV full of kids, and a trucker tank full of gasoline? Yeah, the book’s gonna be like that – a really, really stupid, over-the-top car wreck. Everyone’ll talk about how boneheaded it is, and the conservatroids will conflate that with success.
The Grand Panjandrum
@Cols714:
Plenty of wingers will buy it. They buy Levin, Hannity, Savage, Rush et. al. because that is the thing to do. Read them? No way. But they will be proudly displayed on the bookshelf with the unread books of the aboved mentioned “authors.” Why read a book when you already know what is says. If it does have any new information they can listen to right talk radio or watch Fox to get that info.
Mr Furious
I know they’re brain-dead and all, but how fucking stupid do you have to be to continue to pledge allegience to someone who so transparently skipped out on her job for a chance to rake cash on a book and six-figure speaking engagements?
Seriously.

You’ll be able to buy it for $1.00, along with Moonie’s biography by December. Just the thing for the illiterate wingnutz on you shopping list.

The bestseller lists even have a notation next to books that have received the benefits of heavy bulk-buying. Often, they’re purchased in bulk by mega-wealthy wingnuts and dumped in a warehouse to rot.
Of course, David Gregory and the rest of the media idiot squad have never heard of bulk-buying, so they assume all the artificially-inflated numbers are the real thing.

If even 1% of the US bought a book it would be a huge bestseller.
And we know there is a crazy 20-25% of the population.
But apparently only one in a hundred of THEM might buy a book,
and still its a best seller.
“A few years ago, Bookscan tracked sales of 1.2 million books in the United States. Of those 1.2 million, only 25,000 books sold more than 5,000 copies. Fewer than 500 sold more than 100,000 copies. Only 10 books sold more than a million copies each.”

I’ve noticed that at used book sales, the kind held by “Friends of the Library” and church groups, always have tons of these things. My guess is that RWers get them for free from websites like Newsmax, then give them away. If pages were still uncut, as was common a hundred years ago, I suspect you could leaf through most RW books and see that they had never been read.
On the other hand, the scary thought it that there are some folks who read this trash AND BELIEVE IT!!!

NOT with my tax dollars, if I have anything to do with it!
I’ll just listen to The Pogues “Rum, Sodomy and the Lash,” thanks you.

I propose for the inevitable adaptation of this tome for the screen the title “14:59“. It’ll be less than a movie, not quite a TV show, but rather an informercial. That ends halfway through.

@Scott
The History News Network has an interesting article on right wing book bulk buying:

I thought we were supposed to be bashing blacks for having too many babies. You know, part of the whole ‘welfare queen’ thing.
Just can’t keep up.

@Cols714:
As others have mentioned, bulk buys are a factor. And the fact that it’s simply what you do if you’re a wingnut–buying wingnut welfare books is a basic part of the culture. Steve at No More Mister Nice Blog had a good post about it, too:
Gus
@Cols714:
It takes a fraction of 1% of the population to buy a book to make it a best seller. We know that about quarter of the population is dyed in the wool wingnuts. The percentage of those who actually are capable of completing a book, however, is quite small.
SGEW
Note well: Liberals buy, and read, a wide variety of books on all sorts of topics. Right wingers buy only one book (the same book) in any given six month period, and most of them never actually read it.
Napoleon
@Rey:
The way I understand it is that this is one of these typical twisted illogical bs lies that the right has come up with to try and explain why you should vote with the wingnuts.
Their “theory” is that white limousine liberals push pro-choice policies because the poor (IE, blacks) then take take advantage of it which holds their numbers down which was the whole plan of the WLLs to begin with. So its no different then the WLL marching black people into the ovens at Auschwitz.

@SenyorDave:
Don’t worry, I’m sure she only hangs with wingnuts.

@Pasquinade:
Good article, thanks! This bulk buying scam has been an annoyance for years now. I especially hate the way it’s used as a jump off for the “authors” to hit the pundit circles. Maybe Maddow can investigate since she’s into investigating/reporting behind the scenes scams these days.
