Whew, thankfully, a thread for stupid people!

Tim F., there you have it. Pretty much, it’s all about racism. Of that much, I no longer have any doubt.

I did love the way a couple of the questioners seemed ready to get hostile… and when you looked at their faces, they sorta sagged and let the charisma flow over them.
And having the eight year old ask the death panels question, and having him explain it in eight year old language, was so great the Chattering Heads kept saying “it was screened, it was a filtered crowd.” But it wasn’t.
Favorite part? When he explained what the Deathers thought, and then said, “I’m against that.”

Well, serves ’em right! Now they know how I felt about being stripped of my right not to have a moron for a president.
Litlebritdifrnt
I think (based upon his demeanor) that he was actually quite disappointed that there were not more opponents in the crowd, I think he was actually looking forward to doing a little “schooling” and he didn’t get a chance. JMHO.
SiubhanDuinne
Did you all see over on the other open thread that RedKitten’s water broke and she is on her way to hospital.
SenyorDave
I think that Obama should cancel at least a portion of his vacation and do a series of town hall meetings around the country. The optics of a vacation in Hawaii at a $30M villa simply don’t play well at this moment. It doesn’t matter that its his own money that he actually made on his own, it will be used against him. And this is too important. Sometimes he appears to be the only adult on either side among politicians.
PeakVT
@SenyorDave: The vacation won’t hurt Obama as long as he clears some brush and ignores the PBDs.

I know right? I usually wait for the open threads to spout my stupidness in the open. lol
R-Jud
@SiubhanDuinne: Thanks!
Rey
If I recall the Obama’s are not going to Hawaii, they are going to Martha’s Vineyard and the black side of Martha’s Vineyard at that. Not that it’s the ghetto or anything- but, to the stupid wingnuts, media, birthers, deathers and Cokie Roberts, Hawaii or Martha’s Vineyard it’s way over their heads. Too exotic or something….

@SiubhanDuinne: Thanks for the update, was thinking about her last nite

Ok I am offically maxed out on the nutter-ness. Time to pop in old movies and check out from the ugliness. I seriously can’t take anymore of this insanity.
Tommy
I listened to a Washington DC FM Christian talker on the drive home last evening. They were explaining how the planned Death Panels dovetail nicely with the Liberal’s concerns about overpopulation. If this legislation passes, the plan is to euthanize the elderly rather than spend money treating them. This will ultimately save Federal money and reduce population. But it won’t save enough, so they are also planning a $500 billion dollar reduction in your Medicaid benefits…. Praise God
asiangrrlMN
Ooooh, good luck, Krista (RedKitten)! Strong vibes heading your way!
@SenyorDave: Disagree. Obama’s gotta do what Obama’s gotta do–including taking a vaca. He’s not gonna please the deathers no matter what. Although, he did an admirable job at the town hall meeting.
Thanks, Timmeh, for the open thread. I much appreciate!

Another morning kicked off with a chuckle by the BJ overlords. Thanks, Tim.
Hey, can anyone spare a square?
asiangrrlMN
@wasabi gasp: I don’t wanna get all fangrrly on you, but man, it’s good to see your handle again.

@Tommy:
the talk host forgot to mention how euthanising old folks will also decrease CO2 emissions.
Yep. Death panels = less medical spending = zero population growth = less CO2. It’s all of a piece. How did they figure us out? Damn.

2th&nayle:
“Now they know how I felt about being stripped of my right not to have a moron for a president.”
Apparently not.
Monica Crowley today:
“One thing about liberals: It doesn’t even occur to them that there is another side to an argument. They are so convinced of the righteousness of their own position that it doesn’t dawn on them that a reasonable person might have a different viewpoint.”
“I…I…I…”–unable to speak right now–crushed under the weight of the irony of Monica Crowley imagining that she is “a reasonable person.”

@asiangrrlMN:
Gee whiz, that’s sweet. {{{blush}}}
cmorenc
Now now let’s be FAIR folks, the birthers, deathers, and screamers aren’t objecting at all to Obama being a black president.
They’re objecting to having a LIBBRUL black president, cause they get uppity and try to upset the order of things. They’d have even been ok with a black president (say someone like Michael Steele) who demonstrated after a few rough weeks that he knew his place, and who he’d better fall in line with.
Demo Woman
@SiubhanDuinne: thanks for the info

@harlana pepper: We’d still have the crazy with any Democratic President. The racism is just a special bonus this time around.

Interesting post about the US and the coup in Honduras:

The Big Lie about British ‘death panels’ has reached the UK MSM, and is both amusing and upsetting people – sometimes the same people. According to today’s Guardian, the British Embassy in Washington is ‘quietly trying to counter inaccuracies’. Probably a bit too quietly for anyone over there to hear them, of course, assuming anyone cares what ‘America’s closest ally’ thinks of this amazing smear.
R-Jud
@valdemar: The US healthcare debate was a hot topic this morning in the sauna (no pun intended). As the resident expat I got peppered with questions about what it’s like in America, and got a lot of bitter laughter when I repeated the IBD’s Stephen Hawking gaffe. A lot of people have had problems with the NHS — its funding has been steadily drained off over the last 30 years– but if you proposed replacing it with our current system you’d wind up on the receiving end of a Glasgow kiss, sharpish.
Leelee for Obama
@cmorenc: No, no they wouldn’t. Their AA people know their place, dontchaknow? The racism isn’t the only thing at work here; it’s just a major component. It’s what led that sniffling blond to whimper about getting her country back at a TH I saw on CNN. When I tearfully said things like that back in the days of GWB, I had libertarians and John Birchers offering my their hankies, cause it wasn’t bullshit and they knew it. That lady was full of shit and angry that the President has a really good year-round tan. If Obama’s a Liberal, I’ll eat my discarded tin-foil chapeau. He’s a pragmatist, and that’s one of the many things I like about him.
Leelee for Obama
@Leelee for Obama:Edit alert-I erased part of my post, damnit! after dontchaknow, I meant to add, and they know their place ain’t the WH.

Tim F., there you have it. Pretty much, it’s all about racism. Of that much, I no longer have any doubt.
RAAAAACIST!
Yeah, because when Whitey Cracker Clinton was President, those Republicans couldn’t wait to pass universal socialist health care!
You are all sub-morons now, and sinking lower by the day.
Bender
And having the eight year old ask the death panels question, and having him explain it in eight year old language, was so great the Chattering Heads kept saying “it was screened, it was a filtered crowd.” But it wasn’t.
How can you be so gullible and naive?
Yeah, any eleven-year-old whose mother is a Massachusetts co-ordinator for Women for Obama could’ve asked that question. She’s not a plant!
She’s the AstroSmurf!
ominira
@valdemar: I love this TPM bit (in response to the IBD article that mentioned how Stephen Hawking wouldn’t have survived socialized medicine in the UK): Stephen Hawking likes his “Death Panel” Health Care just fine, thanks.
harlana pepper
@Bender: Fuck you, moran.
harlana pepper
@Bender @30: Can you provide link?
Kevin
Favorite part? When he explained what the Deathers thought, and then said, “I’m against that.”
I thought he said he was against death. which is an odd thing to say, consdiering that everyone has to die at some point.
I think he should have talked about the millions of people who don’t want to get caught up in a hospital beauracracy that will put tubes in them and use machines to make them breath, and who, instead, want to have some DIGNITY at the end of their lives.
Stress dignity and then move on the “Dying with Dignity” which is the watchword for allowing people to end their own lives on their own terms.
Brachiator
@SenyorDave:
Obama could spend his vacation going door-to-door to the home of each and every angry wingnut and it wouldn’t matter. It’s more important that the rest of Congress get some courage and push back against Hedwig and the Angry Wingnuts.
