Faced with a gaping hole in his credibility, today Jim Cramer grabbed a shovel and began digging enthusiastically.

I see a paddlin’ in his near future.

Look, cramer essentially has to do this–cnbc has to do this, or the whole ball of wax is over, finito, kaput. They were selling entertainment masquerading as investment advice, which is like selling girl scout cookies masqueradign as heart surgery, and they got caught out. Either they fold up or they sell even harder.

Man I hate that smarmy mf. He came on his show the very next day and made fun of Jon Stewart. He’s an asshole and he should be living on the streets begging for change, not misleading investors to enrich himself.
At this point, the rot in Wall Street is so bad it’s time we jail em all and let God sort em out.

First, NOW Cramer says Stewart didn’t really have a point, but that’s not the tune he was singing on Stewart’s show.
Second, there are a lot of people more responsible for this mess than the media? OK, but let’s remember what set this off: one of CNBC’s on-air figures going after homeowners with troubled loans.
MikeJ
People had stopped talking about him.

A bit OT, but on the broader media theme, both Adam S. over at TAP and David K at TPM are reporting Jake Tapper is blocking them from his Twitter feed after they posted his ridiculous twits on Omaba’s bowling joke on Leno last night.

Problem is he went back to his cocoon, and they were pissed he didn’t defend him or their way. If he wants to remain a member in good standing, he has no choice other than throwing himself back into the ring.
Of course the people egging him on back into the ring don’t care about the ultimate outcome in regards to Cramer, so long as he is out there defending them and taking all the flack.
The other addendum is they are too stupid to realize they are better off letting it lie. They think too highly of themselves. Shocking I know considering how pitch perfect we know the people in the financial sector have been in recent years when it comes to gauging the general public’s reaction to their money grabs.

I think that the next CNBC spokeshole they need to send to TDS hould be Quintanilla.
After that, they can send Bartiromo and Burnett. Together. In really revealing lingerie. To give each other oily rubdowns.
I could become a huge CNBC fan on that note.
Cris
@MikeJ: He’s jealous that Natasha Richardson went and stole his media thunder.
Ash
@Napoleon: LMAO. Tapper needs to choke on his fucking twitter feed.

A couple of weeks ago, while discussing this whole CNBC/MSNBC/NBC attack on Jon Stewart, Tom Hartmann brought up an interesting point about why its a bad idea to have a defense contractor owning one of the three major networks.
General Electric owns NBC.
Its pretty appalling that a media conglomerate/defense contractor is training its entire arsenal on one comedian/faux journalist. What’s even more appalling is the conspiracy of silence from the rest of the corporate media about what’s going on. Hardly anyone on TV will dare discuss the subject unless they are dutifully skewering Stewart for daring to confront Cramer with the truth.

Hey if Cramer wants to keep the spat going, please sir, continue by all means. You’re doing Stewart a favor and continuing to make yourself look more and more like the tool that you truly are.
Stewart can truly handle himself in this arena and arguing with a competent comedian in public means you not only guaranteed to lose but also to look like an idiot the whole time.
Cramer, you are going to lose and lose HUGE.
Carry on fucker.

While Cramer may still be addressing this, Stewart is done. Stewart made his point and made it well. Cramer is a liar and a coward (as are all the CNBC personalities) and can only make his point on other NBC-affiliated stations. It’s not like he is peddling his crap on CNN or CBS.
Napoleon
@Malron:
On a related note the evening news anchor on my local NBC affiliate, while pimping the coming Obama appearance on Leno, said something like "Leno is no Jon Stewart, so it will not me that hard hitting, but it still ought to be interesting". I couldn’t take that as anything other then a positive statement on Stewart.
Matt
This is George Costanza setting up a meeting with Firestone so he can use his "jerk store" joke. Cramer/CNBC doesn’t understand how petty and irrelevant he is.
KevinD
@Matt: LOL
Maybe he’s trying to "leave on a high note."

Corporate CYA/fluffing at its usual clip. "Liberal Media" is a catchy distraction for what they truly are — the Financial class. Its all pretty much sucking up for HQ, with Colbert/Stewart being exceptions. Try and watch Donny Deutsch struggle to save his soul, the only attempt at empathy I’ve seen on CNBC
TenguPhule
Fixed.

Never, ever get into a pie fight with a comedian. You both get covered in pie, and he’s a professional at it.
Mmmmm, Erin Burnett covered in pie.
YellowJournalism
To half of them, it’s revenge against Stewart for targeting them for all of their BS. For the other half, it’s a pre-emptive strike because they know they’re next on Stewart’s shit list.
guest
it took him how long to formulate a counter response?
on a side note, how badly does having a coke habit mess with one’s cognitive abilities?
Crusty Dem
I think Cramer needs an extra helping of STFU. Someone needs to crop together a video of his apologies on Stewart with the BS on his show the day after and the Today show. What an useless asshole. He’s made me so angry I’m using the grammatically proper "an". I wouldn’t normally do that.
Would the SEC please get on board investigating what he said in his 2006 "The Street" interview already? Cramer needs some time to ponder his errors in Federal PMITA prison, yesterday.
Oh, and memo to John for feeling sorry for him, do you feel bad for him now?
Don
I can understand not letting this go, but why go on Stewart’s show at all? Very random.
