Apparently there are continuing problems with the RSS feed and perhaps portable devices. Have any of you had a problem? Additionally, some of you are having problems commenting with something called bad behavior.
If so, here is what I need. State the problem. State what platform you are using. Take a screenshot, and then email it to me.
I will fix it or find someone who can.

*I* don’t have a problem commenting with bad behavior. It’s the only way I know how to roll with this blog.
Comrade Darkness
I get the bad behavior block 100% of the time on my sidekick 3 phone. That’s through t-mobile. A screen shot will require a camera. I’ll see what I can arrange and post back. I often kill time waiting in line on BJ.
El Tiburon
Sounds like an invitation for more Tittsburgh Stealer razzing.
Stealers are so cheap they only put their logo on one side of their helmet.
Look, it’s early, so that’s all I got.
Zifnab
I’ve been surfing from my iPhone on occasion and it’s been pretty solid. That said, the comments filter continues to baffle me.
The Other Steve
I use google reader to get the RSS feed, and haven’t had any problems.
Also no problems reading or posting from my Blackberry Pearl.
These are probably problems with those Apple guys, they never can seem to get their computers to work right. :-)
Roonieroo
I had a problem with the bad behavior warnings on a box that I commented from that did not have my anti-virus loaded yet at that time. I just assumed that was part of the problem.
Once my anti-virus was loaded and that box cleaned up all was good. Not sure if that is what is affecting others but thought I would throw that out there.
El Gordo
All is well here.

Relatedly, what would people recommend as a good utility for taking screen shots, for either PC or Mac?
Comrade Mary, Would-Be Minion Of Bad Horse
I’m getting "Live bookmark feed failed to load", but the BBC’s feed is doing the same thing.
Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP. This failure message shows up for any entry more recent than about 4 AM Eastern. I just added BJ, and can’t see any earlier posts, but anything earlier from the Beeb comes through just fine.
I don’t think it’s your problem specifically.
in canaduh
maemo platform on nokia tablets always crash when refreshing BJ’s rss
using os2008 on a n800
happens with any RSS reader
Wini
My Google reader feed is fine, too, but the standalone RSS bookmark for the site has not worked since yesterday morning. I have a Blackberry Pearl through AT&T (as mentioned above, I can’t do a screen shot without a camera).
Wini
… P.S.- My other RSS bookmarks are fine.
David
I use JetBrains Omea Reader 2.2. Your blog is erroring out, and it lists only this: "The is an invalid syntax for a decimal numeric entity reference. Line 235, position 20."
Good luck.
Davebo
The mobile version of the site works fine on my Iphone.
Comrade Mary, Would-Be Minion Of Bad Horse
Wini, have your other sites updated since 4 AM? The only RSS feed that is working completely for me is Peter Watts’ blog, and his last entry is from February 14.
jenniebee
Google Reader reads your feed just fine. And if you’d switch your filter to block (space)c1al1s and c1al1s(space) but let c1al1s (no spaces) through, we’d all be able to rant about soc1al1sm without being blocked.
Until that glorious day arrives, we can always bitch about the commies.
South of I-10
I have had no problems. I use Google Reader and I post sometimes from my iPhone.
TheFountainHead
Looks good on my iPhone this morning. I use NetNewsWire for RSS on the laptop and the iPhone, and both have been working fine.
Wini
Mary, yes- I think the others are fine. TPM last updated at 9:26 (about 2 minutes ago). Also, just to be clear, I am only having trouble with the standalone RSS feed.. the site itself loads fine.
TCG
It is OK on my end of the series of tubes that forms the internets
Lihtox
The problem I’ve had in the past day is that the RSS reader is replacing ordinary apostrophes and quotation marks with HTML equivalents which aren’t rendering in my newsreader (NetNewsWire 2.0 on OSX 10.4). For example, this is what a recent snippet looked like:
This just started in the past day or so and is annoying.

I read the RSS feed in Apple Mail. No problems here. I also have not any problems with any of the four comments I’ve made.

On the Mac:
• Apple-Shift-4 then draw a rectangle around what you want a screenshot of.
• Apple-Shift-4 then hit the tab bar then click over any window to take a screenshot of that entire window, including the app chrome.
• For screenshots of web pages specifically: Paparazzi! It’ll take a screenshot of the full page, including the parts that are below the fold.
On the PC I have no idea.

@clussman:
Just hit the spacebar after hitting cmd-shift-4. Icon will turn into a camera and mouse over any window.
John, the only problem I have with the RSS feeds is the links on the feed buttons are wrong. For example clicking the RSS 2.0 button gives me:
https://balloon-juice.com ?php%20bloginfo(%27rss2_url%27);%20?
(note I had to chop out a few ‘s to get that to show)
Instead of
https://balloon-juice.com/?feed=rss2
jg
I can’t read the comments when I surf Balloon-Juice from my iPod touch.

@southpaw: Built-in method: Press the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard, which copies the current screen to the clipboard. Paste into your favorite image editor.
Utility: If you use Firefox, get the "ScreenGrab!" extension.

@Comrade Darkness reporting back:
I realized I could just load one of my own websites from my phone and get you the HTTP_USER_AGENT string:
Mozilla/5.0 (Danger hiptop 3.4; U; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920
Error 403 We’re sorry, but we could not fulfill your request for /?p=17479#comment-1154867 on this server. You do not have permission to access this server. Your technical support key is: d8dc-d8c8-dfd9-b1ad You can use this key to fix this problem yourself.
Fat chance on that. It’s accessing the internet through a complicated proxy server.
Added: well, that’s bizarre, my test post went through on that other thread. I guess I may not have a problem, just an error message.
Incertus
When I look at the site on my iPod Touch, I get the main story, but no comments. I can’t read them or comment. Perhaps I should try accessing it another way?
clussman
Ninerdave: Yes, spacebar instead of tab. But I specifically mentioned that method in my second bullet point. Bullet point three, which you quoted, uses Paparazzi! to take a screenshot of a full webpage, including parts that aren’t visible in the window because they fall "below the fold" (i.e. you have to scroll to them).
It’s a great little tool. Especially if you’re a web designer or developer.

My operating system is "US constitution v1.0"
My problem is that things that are running on it keep performing illegal operations.
Here is a picture of the problem manifesting:

Please fix it.
Oh, wait, that problem is already fixed. Never mind.

The plain RSS2 feed was blank for most of the last 24 hours, except for one story that showed up and then vanished. As of this moment, everything is back! Hope it stays.
FYI: Firefox 3 with Sage reader. All other sites were normal.

On my iphone: Sometimes i get a mobile version – sometimes i get the regular site.
Greg
Not so much a bug as annoying behavior that I would prefer be turned off.
I use a Palm Treo 650 and get a cut down version of the front page thanks to the wp-pda "enhancement". That means I get the first paragraph or two of each entry and then have to go to the story’s dedicated page for the rest. This is incredibly frustrating on a slow mobile browser, to the point where I don’t visit the site that way anymore. I’d much rather have the normal page take longer to load and be able to just scroll through it once.
The actual reformatting is nice, though, so if it’s possible to turn off the truncation without disabling the plugin altogether that would be good. If not, I’d rather have the normal site.
Bad Horse's Filly
I was going to add a note and say it wasn’t working…then I remember that yesterday, when trying to get the feed to work I deleted it and forgot to re-add it. So that explains why I didn’t get any updates today. PBUAKB

Same story as Incertus and jg — can’t browse comments on iPod touch. I don’t think that’s technically a "problem" in that it’s not an error, it’s the way the mobile site is designed.
The mobile site looks nice and is fast, but I’d rather have comments than the specialized version.
