No on 8.
Sorry if I am being too personal on this. It’s just important to me.
P.S.: Just as an FYI, I know almost all of you support No on 8, I just think that this is a great ad – one that my parents would make if thy had the influence. I appreciate the support all of you give. You can donate here. I know you all don’t have a lot of money, but $5 or $10 would be great!
Once Again, My Chief Flaw Is Insufficient Cynicism
Earlier, I wondered why someone from Fox News would say the McCain election effort is over because of what some crazy volunteer did, and then it turns out the McCain camp was pushing the mugger story after all. I hate people.
(Update- TNR says it did not reach the national level, which would be nice to believe).
It is Friday, so here are some pictures of pets. Start with a roll in the leaves:
Naptime:
This face is just damned adorable- you just want to squeeze this fellow:
And finally, another picture of my own cat, Tunch (named after former Steeler lineman and current Steelers announcer Tunch Ilkin, for those of you who were wondering), playing with one of his favorite toys:
He is not fat. I think maybe if he were a darker color, it would make him look slimmer. At any rate, ample evidence here as to why pets are better than people.

American Health Care – Worst to First
I have to admit, the only reason I read this article in the first place was because of who authored it: Billy Beane, gay former baseball player [fixed], Newt Gingrich, former ultra-conservative congressman, and John Kerry, senator and former presidential candidate. It’s basically a good article that says that if we followed baseball’s model, we could have a first-rate healthcare system.
Update: Apparently I was wrong and there’s another Billy Bean(e) out there. Sorry, how was I to know? As a gay person, I have tunnel vision when it comes to the Billy Bean(e)’s of the world. I should have known Newt Gingrich couldn’t work with a ghey. After all, he can’t even bring himself to agree with his ghey half-sister.
P.S.: I know what you’re thinking, “Michael D. wrong about something? NO!!”
P.P.S.: Still a good article though!
Bad Week
Let’s summarize the past couple of days: (a) Politico reports that La Palin has spent $150,000 on campaign outfits, (b) John McCain’s brother calls 911 to complain about a traffic jam and then curses at the operator for telling him to get off the line, (c) the New York Times reports that Palin also spent $30,000 or so on hair and makeup over a period of two weeks, and (d) a white woman who claimed she was attacked by a black Obama supporter admits that the whole thing was a hoax.
He was also endorsed by al Qaeda. Plus, some of McCain’s own advisors are abandoning the campaign and endorsing Obama. Then there is the possibility that McCain is hanging out in Pennsylvania because the Obama campaign played him out of competing in competitive states.
By the way, wasn’t the second investigation into Palin’s abuse of power due to issue a report one of these days?
And This Is Even Dumber
WTF, over? Fox news editor John Moody:
If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.
If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.
This is as dumb as attempting to blame Obama for what some jackass mugger allegedly did- how in the hell is it John McCain’s fault that some crazy-ass volunteer faked a crime? How could this possibly be pinned on McCain? Why should it hurt him at all?
If this story had been true, it would not have been Obama’s fault and anyone trying to score political points would be wrong. Likewise, this is not McCain’s fault, and it should have no impact on his campaign.
Please stop all the damned stupid.
*** Update ***
Am I wrong? Did I miss the McCain team pushing this story? Because I do not remember anything from them on it.
BREAKING HARD AND FAST- White Woman McCain Volunteer Not Robbed, Attacked, Mutilated, and Assaulted By Swarthy Member of Obama Thugocracy!!!
Yesterday, Drudge had another multiple siren alert about a McCain volunteer being robbed in Pittsburgh by an Obama supporter who then allegedly assaulted her, mutilated her, and then carved a backwards ‘B” into her face because he was enraged by a McCain sticker on her care. Memeorandum looked like this:
Red State kicked it up a notch, in case you missed the point:
Today there is a new, more violent twist. A McCain supporter, a 20 year old college Republican volunteer, was savagely attacked by a Barack Obama supporter in Pennsylvania. She was at an ATM getting money. He saw the McCain sticker on her car, robbed her, and carved a “B” into the side of her face.
He carved her face like it was a pumpkin
You can see where this is going, can’t you? Alrighty then:
SHE MADE IT ALL UP:
Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter “B” in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.
Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.
Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.
I am so sick and tired of all this bullshit.
Credit where credit is due- Michelle Malkin never once bought into the story, to her credit.
