On the June 2 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, while discussing Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy, Rush Limbaugh asserted that the Democratic Party was “go[ing] with a veritable rookie whose only chance of winning is that he’s black.” As Media Matters for America noted, Limbaugh said on his May 21 broadcast that “Barack Obama is an affirmative action candidate” and asserted during his May 14 broadcast that “[i]f Barack Obama were Caucasian, they would have taken this guy out on the basis of pure ignorance long ago.”
Finally! I am so relieved to see that finally someone in the media is speaking “truth to power” (blech I hate that phrase, even sarcastically) for the poor, under-privileged Geraldine Ferraro sect.
bub
And if Limbaugh was black, he’d be a big, fat, bloated, black asshole without a radio show.
passerby
“speaking truth to power”
O! Can’t stand it either. And, BTW, it hasn’t been used much, if at all, here in BJ comments.

Just Some Fuckhead
Yeah, let him bloviate. It will make it that much more enjoyable when President Obama signs the Louise Slaughter (D-NY) Media Act bill in to law and restores the fairness doctrine.
Splitting Image
The funny thing is, they’re pretending to be more racist than they are to cover up the real reason for Obama’s popularity.
He opposed the war. The rest didn’t.
The entire sideshow of the primaries and all of the crap we’ll see over the next few months has only one purpose: to stop November from being a referendum on the Iraq war.
calipygian
Until Limbaugh explicitly denies that the reason he took a fist full of someone elses Viagra down to the Dominican Republic a couple of years ago, I’m going with Occam’s Razor and will assume that Limbaugh is a pedophile, boy-prostitute fucker.
Tom in Texas
Hey Rush. Donovan McNabb called. He still thinks you’re a racist douchebag.
slightly_peeved
And if McCain was an Eskimo, they would have stuck him out on an ice floe years ago…
(My apologies to any Eskimo reading this thread – this is probably just an urban myth)
Brachiator
So how do we explain Dubya, the epitome of absolute, impenetrable ignorance?
El Cid
You guys can joke all you want, but if Rush isn’t right, why are all our CEO’s and big Wall Street investors and so forth black? Why can’t we for once, you know, have a white person in charge of a company which values more than several times over many 3rd world nation GDPs? Huh? Huh?
Jay B.
“go[ing] with a veritable rookie whose only chance of winning is that he’s black.”
And, to counter that, the GOP is going with a crotchety 100-year old veteran whose only chance of winning is that he reminds people of Grandpa Simpson.
Tom in Texas
Jay:
I’m thinking more along the lines of Donald Duck. Marching around in a sailor suit. Prone to inexplicable temper tantrums and racist outbursts.
This is gonna be a fun summer.
calipygian
Not if it means having to talk about that fat fuck and his “Barack the Magic Negro” bullshit.
4tehlulz
Someone’s bitchy that they won’t have the Clintons to kick around anymore.
Watching Rush turn into Hal Turner is going to be hilarious.
Cris
If George Bush was a Democrat, they would have taken this guy out on the basis of pure ignorance long ago.
Tom in Texas
As soon as he comes up with a parody that people under 50 understand, I’ll be worried.
Darkrose
Nah, if Rush was black (gods forbid–we don’t want him!) he’d be Uncle Ruckus.
Zifnab
Barack Obama is only winning because of the intense levels of reverse racism present in American society today. I call on all my white brothers and sisters to join together in a valiant Million Honkey March on Washington to protest this injustice.
Because an injustice anywhere, is an injustice… anywhere.
RandyH
I read months ago that the Republicans are going to use Affirmative Action as a campaign strategy this year, even placing Anti-Affirmative-Action measures on ballots in states to make sure they get the bigots out to the polls. Their thought was that either Hillary or Barack could be painted as an Affirmative Action beneficiary, keepin’ the hard-workin’ white man down.
Maybe Rush is kicking off the campaign today.
SamFromUtah
Someone’s bitchy that they won’t have the Clintons to kick around anymore.
I can see that would be a real cause for panic – a distressingly large number of careers were made through Clinton-bashing, including Rush’s. Some of them have even gone into the second generation by now (e.g. Doughbob Loadpants). It’s like the troubles you get when the coal mine closes after a century of keeping people employed, except that coal miners actually do something useful.

“Honk if you’re a honkie!
McCain ’08”
The regionalization of the Republican p[arty continues.
nota bene
Rush Limbaugh sucks so much he has an event horizon.
Zifnab
They both fill the room with hot air. Toss up as to which one is more environmentally friendly.
El Cid
You know, that may be a good effect of this matchup: the Republicans may have to stop whining that the Democrats are just exaggerating when they describe a lot of Republican supporters and activists as racists.
Suddenly the ‘welfare queen’ type dodges they’ve been running on for 40 years is going to become a bit more Helms / Gantt direct.
SpotWeld
I just don’t get why Repubicans who hate “Affirmative Actions” are okay with special treatment for someone just becuase thier parents are rich and connected?
Bubblegum Tate
Well, he might not have a radio show, but he’d still be getting paid to push the wingnut line. The GOP loooooooves having a Black man they can have mouth their bullshit. Just ask Jesse Lee Peterson.
chuckieboyc
I’d like to hear what that sissy drug addict comment our CEO president. This country bought into the fascist bullshit and elected an incompetent asshole. As a CEO, chimpy failed at every endeavor, he can leave office and hold his head high, his record is perfect.
SpotWeld
Is it me, or is the whole right-wing devolving into a “fear of the unkown” cult.
1) Find something that is mysterious.
2) Convince others to Fear It!
3) Promise people that are afriad that if they give up power and treasure they scary thing can’t hurt them.
But now it’s getting harder and harder to find enough “big unknowns” that will justify all the blood and money that the wingers want to control.
Barak Obama gave them a funny name, and that’s about it. How long can this whole “black people are mysterious and scary” act really hold up?
Seems like the quickest antidote is for a concentraited effort to go out to find people whole will give teastmonials to the effect of “Barak Obama, yeah I met him. Had a drink. Nice guy and smart. I’ll vote for him.”
McCain just can’t fight that since he’s had to put so much effort into putting up that front so far. Sooner or later McCain going to do the “big stupid” and no amount of beer will make him look good.
phobos
Wingnuts are scared shitless of Obama. Ever since the concepts of “tax cuts enbiggen the little guy” and “Americans love open-ended war” haven’t exactly worked out, the concept of change has become their Kryponite.
JL
Timmy is on saying that McCain is going to say that he represents the American dream. I guess that dream would be marry rich and learn how to cook really good ribs.
SpotWeld
McCain might be the American dream in that we would all love to aquire wealth and power though boons granted by others.
Obama seems to represent power and wealth gained though actual personal accomplishment and success.
Conservatively Liberal
Bingo! Now if Rush could get a touch of Revitalago. ;)
That episode of Boondocks where Ann Coulter reveals that she is a Democrat had me laughing my ass off.
I bet that Rush Limpdick is going to go full-tilt racist before this is over, and so are a bunch of other right wing nuts. Racists are a part of both parties, but I believe that the right has more of them on their team.
The battle with Hillary was a good warmup for Obama, especially with the restraint he has had to exercise in responding to her crap. I am looking forward to Obama opening up on McCain real soon, where he will be able to go after every single target of opportunity with unreserved gusto.
El Cid
Tim Russert loves McCain’s “dry rubs”.
CFisher
Of course, his rhetoric ignores the fact that he and his campaign have built a significant support base among young people, expanded the Democratic voting rolls, re-engerized local parties in traditionally friendly GOP regions, out fundraised and out-campaigned the Clintons and came from behind to clench the nomination of a major political party.
No, it’s all because of skin color. Which explains why the Democrats nominated Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton so many times.
Alan
Rush loves to call Obama stupid, as dumb as a post, “vacant.” A person who can’t speak unless he’s reading a TelePrompTer. What he really means is Obama is just “another stupid n*gger.”
cleek
did he say:
?
Jess
This strategy is going to backfire bigtime. There are a lot of people out there who might be just a little bit racist themselves, but who nonetheless loathe those who are overtly so. They’ll be all the more likely to support Obama to disassociate themselves from Limbaugh’s crap.
NickM
You know, this time I don’t think that Limbaugh’s shit is going to work.
Obama wasn’t elected cadre leader in a Berkeley commune. Places not known for outre liberalism voted overwhelmingly for a black man whose middle name is Hussein and last name rhymes with “Osama”. Places like Montana, Colorado, North Carolina, Virginia, delivered him strong victories and he even came damn close in Indiana. That is just a different fucking country that Rush’s game plan says it is.
When I was 20-25, Limbaugh was actually “cool” to some other 20-25 year olds believe it or not. Can you picture people that age – or at least ones not thoroughly marinated in concentrated Cheetos dust – admitting to being a dittohead today? His trash is going the way of Ed Sullivan or Great Society liberalism circa 1964 — it’s crested and the tide is going out, fast, leaving a bunch of bloated whales flopping on the beach.
Not saying we’ve made it over the rainbow yet, but at least we’ve gotten to where Rush’s old bullshit doesn’t work 100% of the time anymore.
slippy hussein toad
Rush Limbaugh scares me. Not for the reason most people would think. No. When I was about 23 I had a very important bond between my father and myself — our ability to talk about world events — severed by the corpulent, pustulent, flatulent presence of Rush Limbaugh. We got into a heated argument and my father (who was very proud of my intellectual abilities, the fact that I started reading at age 4, the fact that I had read thousands of books by the time I started college) told me after I criticized Limbaugh’s grasp of the facts based on something I read about him, ended up telling me I couldn’t fucking read. In those words.
I’ve been able to talk to him since, but we cannot discuss politics. And it’s because he’s listening to that racist, pedophile, drug-addled nazi piece of human assflesh.
If I ran into Rush Limbaugh my fear is that my feelings about that event, pent up for almost 16 years now, would come out all at once and I’d have him dismembered into bloody hunks before I even realized what I was doing. And I don’t want to end my stay in civilization like that.
So, I just hope I never find myself standing in an elevator next to that cocksucker.
Never the fuck mind about what he would feel about it.
heet
I predicted that Obama would be the Dem nominee this year after his speech at the last DNC convention. My reasonsing – he would force the Republican smear machine to attack him in a way that would turn off a large percentage of the electorate. Limbaugh’s comments are the beginning of this little natural experiment.
LaurainAustin
The affirmative action candidate. Incredible.
Here’s one thing Republicans are supposed to understand and revere: the so-called free market. So anytime you hear this line of bullshit from a ditto-head (Obama, the magic negro, the affirmative action candidate, etc.), ask them this: how do you explain why Barack Obama has BROKEN fundraising recods? The guy who puts EVERYBODY to shame when it comes to fundraising–it’s because people feel sorry for the poor black fella? or he’s a liberal fad? or the 1.5 million donors are so politically correct that they have been manipulated into donating (many of them repeatedly) out of liberal guilt?
Okay, ditto-head, why does your guy’s fundraising look so embarrassingly pathetic compared to Obama’s? Hasn’t the market spoken?
Here’s something you can understand, moronic ditto-head: money talks; bull…well, you know the rest.
jake
Oh dear, he’s really going to cost Obama his “Democrats who take Flush Limpbags seriously” demographic.
Bwahahaha!
Devolving? Devolving?
Dude, no offense, but where did your spaceship land?
SpotWeld
I suppose it would be fair to say that my use of “Devolving” was a bit of hyperbole. Perhaps dissolving or “losing it’s internal structure to the point where the organization is nothing but…”
The point is, from 2000 – 2003 the right-wing had a nice lock-step formation going from it’s top-down talking points to it’s dumpster scouring bloggers. They did have influcence over a good portion of the indipendant and undecided voters. Now it’s going in all directions. Ron Paul supports to one side, paisley-frightened twits to the other. They all seem to dislike McCain (to say the least) and the only thing they seem to know for certain is that they hate the left even more (though even that seems to be wavering in some circles).
So let’s restate that as:
“Is it me, or is the whole right-wing splintering into a “fear of the unkown” cult?”
