Bush in Saudi Arabia for Nuclear Deal
Saudi Arabia is the Middle East’s largest exporter of jihadists. The ruling family has maintained its legitimacy in the eyes of its people by turning a blind eye to the Wahabists who continue to indoctrinate Saudi males. It follows that providing them with nuclear technology is the smart thing to do.
Bush thinks Wahabi is something libs eat with their sushi.
Bush also thinks that Salafi is spread on pita bread.

You know, after the last 8 years, if Obama got into office and immediately invaded the Kingdom of Saud, I’d feel bad. But only a little bad.

interestingly, the Saudis told Bush to get bent when he asked them to increase oil production.
I guess all that hand-holding with Saudi princes didn’t do much to win favor.
Considering the Bush family’s long-standing ties with the house of Saud, I think it’s remarkable that W has no pull with them. I also think it indicates which way they want to see our election go this fall; they don’t care for what W has done in Iraq and they are not about to throw the GOP a lifeline so that they can continue their failed policies WRT Iraq and Iran.

(the Saudis are probably also not happy with the tanking dollar… sure they are getting a lot more of them these days for each barrel of oil, but they also held a LOT of them prior to the dollar’s dive and they can’t be very happy that all those dollars are worth a lot less these days when they go jet-setting to London)

I’m sure you’d be one of the first people to enlist in that crusade.
The ridiculous House of Saud, like all the repressive dictatorships in the region, has extremely close ties with the American government. In fact, their survival depends on repressing their own populations and serving American interests. That’s why there will never be democracy in Jordan, Egypt, Saudi, Syria et al. It’s easier to maintain a small oligarchy whose members you can assassinate at will than to support a mass democratic movement whose members hate everything you stand for, if for no other reason than asinine comments like the one above. The Saudis have done nothing to advance the cause of either the Arabs or the Muslims – their only interest is themselves.
As for what Saudi preachers preach – clean up your own house

Invading Saudi Arabi would be a very, very, very bad idea.
I think we should punish them by making them irrelevant. And you make them irrelevant by making what’s beneeth the sand irrelevant.

Yeah, I agree. I just think – between the country being a hotbed of Islamic radicals and a giant ocean of oil – it would be funny if the declared “aims” of the Bush Administration were actually put to functional use.
That said, I’ll settle for buying an electric car and switching to Green Mountain Energy as an acceptable “FU Saudi Arabian Royalty”. But after the helped prop up one of the worst Presidents in US History, I wouldn’t cry too hard knowing they were going to reap what they sowed.

It isn’t quite that the Saudis told him to get bent. Its more like they told them they couldn’t do it. Which is unprecidented – I dont think that ever before has there been a price spike without a concomitant increase in production.
Things that make you go “hmmmmm”….

“interestingly, the Saudis told Bush to get bent when he asked them to increase oil production.”
Third time this year. This is the second time this year that Bush got the stink hand, and Cheney got it a couple of months ago.
Basically, the Bush administration is no longer useful to them. They are expecting a Democratic winner in November, so they can safely ignore Bush and rake in the cash.

The first nation that invades Saudi Arabia will have perhaps a day or two left to wonder, “where did it all go wrong?”
To invade the largest supplier of oil to Europe would be so aggressive and brash a move as to invite the wrath of every nation on earth. And very rightly so. I would not be surprised if that would be all it would take for nukes to start flying any time.

HOLY SHIT!
There must have been a box of doughnuts AND a bag of Cheetos at the end of this thought because even douchebags like the Doughy Pantload get it:
The news that we will help the Saudis develop nuclear technology strikes me as a bit at odds with the usual talking points on Iran. We constantly hear that Iran can’t seriously want a peaceful nuclear program because they have so much oil. Well, Saudi Arabia has even more oil, right? Isn’t there a contradiction here?

And I thought countries sitting on oceans of oil only wanted nuclear power to produce weapons.
Stupid wingnuts, cant keep their talking points straight.
Or, they think we are too fucking stupid to notice.

Nail on the head. The whole Bush presidency has been predicated on this.
