At the very least, we’re headed for a draw. It’ll be fun to see Republicans try to filibuster lobbying reform or watch the President veto yet another bill. It’ll be even more fun to see this bill come up twice and see how many Congresscritters change sides. The only bill that should come up more often than Lobbying Reform on the Democratic hotplate of feel-good legislation is the Iraq War.
It’s one of those things that always gets talked about but never gets passed. I want to see Republicans vote on it again, and again, and again, and again.
I thought it was Tim showing off his latest addition to his arsenal.
No, unfortunately international conventions ban be from stockpiling Keith David.

there’s another kieth david/carpenter movie?
Do the phrases “I just cannot believe any of this voodoo bullshit.” or “You believe any of this voodoo bullshit, Blair?” ring a bell?

“They Live” is one of the great 80s sci-fi films, it perfectly channels the Reagan era zeitgeist, and FYI the other Keith David/John Carpenter film is the best sci-fi/horror film ever–other than Alien–“The Thing.”

Totally agree! Good choices…Carpenter’s re-do of “The Thing” was incredibly well-done…the landscape and everything about else about it was so completely bleak…you really didn’t want it to work out so badly for all concerned, but you kinda knew it would. “Alien” absolutely creeped my ass out – and then freaked it out when the beastie popped out of John Hurt’s chest.

You had to know someone would put the fight scene from They Live on Youtube.

Fixed for redundancy. Cats are genetically ultra-libertarian.
I keep a Spray Bottle of Doom around too. Never know when one of those little buggers will decide to go feral because you were 30 seconds late filling their food bowl.

Or because you’ve petted them for five seconds too long.

What I don’t understand is why they don’t just adopt the R tactic of stacking the conference committees so you get 1-2 republicans who already support your position anyway or who can be marginalized by the rest of the Dems.

Those “obstructionis Republicans”…heh.
Nice to see the Dems doing this.
Oh..and “chickenhawk” this.

Christ, you mean we’re actually going to win one?

Great reference, btw, Tim.

The bills don’t get to conference committee. You need a vote on several procedural steps along the way, and each step can be filibustered.
