Indeed. So, Tim, have you ever watched “Die Duvve”, a takeoff on the film you reference with your picture?

The Seventh Seal is an awesome film. Bergman was also my first exposure to the Magic Flute. RIP.

The badminton game with death also foreshadowed Bill and Ted.

Sad News. One of my absolutely favorite movies of all time.

You know who would be the absolutely perfect person to do a eulogy for Bergman? Tom Snyder.
Oops . . .

For any die-hard Bergman fans out there, his film “Smiles of a Summer Night” was adapted by Stephen Sondheim into a truly wonderful musical called “A Little Night Music.”
Actually, in Swedish, the Y is equivalent to the German U with an umlaut or the French U in word such as tu. Although the W is pronounced like an English V, in final position, it is closer to an F sound. So an approximate pronunciation would be fon Sudoff.

Actually, as a Swede, I can tell Vadranor that you’re correct, except for the “w”. In this case it is quite close to the English pronunciation of W.
And, of course, the “von” should NEVER be spelt with a capital V, not even in the beginning of a sentence. (Compare with de Gaulle, for instance.)
And, yes, vila i frid Ingmar! Most likely the most prominent Swedish artist all categories for at least the last 50 years.

Was Max Von Sydow ever that young? RIP Ingmar.

The Seventh Seal was my favorite movie in my History of Motion Pictures class. Great, great movie.

Anyone know how to pronounce “von Sydow”?
On Bergman, I really like “Smiles of a Summer Night”. Reminds me I should look up more of his older work.

fon See-dov, iirc
Of all films I’ve ever seen, _The Seventh Seal_ is my favorite. It’s so wonderfully claustrophic…

Not in English, in which aristocratic particles are treated as all others words.

Michelangelo Antonioni died just a few hours after Bergman. It’s like Addams and Jefferson.
