My Pandora station for the Red Hot Chili Peppers is currently playing Splender-I Don’t Understand, and this is why:
Base on what you’ve told us so far, we’re playing this trach because it features a subtle use of vocal harmony, myld rhythmic syncopation, repetitive melodic phrasing, and many other similarities identified in the music genome project.
Simply amazing.

Damn, John, and I thought I loved my MSN Radio.
I’m grooving to my Morcheeba station while I try to do pre-press on all the year-end ads we are running.
Pooh
Damnit, My firewall at work blocks Pandora :(
Rick Moran
John – I got the same response when I put in Sugarland except they added the word “twang” somewhere.
RHCP and Sugarland don’t have much in common which leads me to believe that Pandora is indeed somewhat limited – not even as good as my Comcast Rhapsody radio station builder that does the same thing.
Fledermaus
John, what pop song doesn’t have vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation and repetitive melodic phrasing?
Nikki
I’m playing a smooth jazz mix and somehow ended up with Percy Sledge and the Blind Boys of Alabama. And both worked!
Pooh
Ooh Blind Boys of Alabama are fantastic!
Nash
Timeless prose by Pandora that is not.
I would simply like to know when Stirling Newberry started to write for Pandora. Isn’t there a payola scam here? Or something.
neil
Myld Syncopation… wasn’t that the band from Wayne’s World?
neil
I mean, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Oops.

What’s the firewall, Pooh? Do you know, offhand?
Pooh
No, I work for the Gubment, so trying to find a way around is, er, iffy.
p.lukasiak
actually, john is listening to a station full of show tunes, after entering “The Pajama Game” as his favorite…
Tim F.
That’s the same thing it told me about Paint it, Black, except fro the guitar solo.
demimondian
Well, I assumed that you were clerking for the Ninth District in Ankorage, actually. Depending on the beast, though, it may be a config issue on your client side.
Pooh
Close enough for, er, government work Dem. Let’s just say that it might not be worth my effort (or wise) to try and find a workaround
;)

one could do far worse than a day of _Pal Joey_. Problem is, the lyrics tend to be NSFW.
Angry Engineer
Splender – there’s a name I haven’t heard in about five years.
I’m interested to see what Pandora suggests based on my recommendation of “Husker Du”.
