Just barely. And eventually, these injuries could catch up with us. I still have no idea how long Rodney Harrison’s gonna be out for, but after watching the slow-mo replay, it doesn’t look good.
It saddens me that you persist in this business of cheering for a team that (a) obviously still fails to understand that excellence is something that has to be demonstrated, not just claimed, interminably, in advance of the contest, by team and fans alike, and (b) cannot, when it matters, beat the Patriots, a team which understands quite well what excellence is and how to let its accomplishments on the field speak so eloquently for themselves, at the end of the day, when the game has been decided.
Exactly why I thought the Pats might lose today. Just like last year, lose the season game, beat the Steelers in the Playoffs…And once the golf cart started hauling PAts off the field, I thought we were done for.
I ended up missing a lot of the game, but the parts I saw the Pats were really outplaying the Steelers. Fluke plays were putting the Steelers up (10-7 when I had to stop watching) like the 85-yard pass and the fumble, but then that lateral—classic Steelers. If it had only been Kordell with the bonehead decision…
Ahh, the lateral that wasn’t. E-gad, that was a bone-headed move.
All in all, while disappointing, this game wasn’t too bad. We hung with the Patriots much better than we did in last year’s championship game, on a week in which they really wanted to win to avoid an honest to goodness losing streak. Get some execution down, and the score ends up in our favor.
Of course, I was only able to watch the first half, and I didn’t think either team did that well. The Patriots seemed determined to give us the ball whenever they got inside the Red Zone, which was much appreciated by us. We, of course, did the false start that erased the field goal, and Randel-El threw the lateral that wasn’t, which would have resulted in at least 3 points.
Also, anyone else think it weird that Big Ben punted? I mean, interesting fake, but we stood a much better chance of avoiding the touchback by trotting Gardocki in and having him try to lay it down on the 1-2 yard line.
Also, John, Google ads has decided that this is the perfect place to sell Patriots gear, tickets, and Tom Brady jerseys. Adds insult to injury, that.

Game should not have been that close. The pass interference call on Chad Scott that set up the Steelers’ tying TD was, er, rather dubious.
And I cannot imagine Steelers fans being especially pleased with Cowher opting to go straight in for the tying score rather than burning some clock, first. There’s being having confidence in your D, and there’s just being stupid. Giving Brady a tie game and 1:21 to work with smacks of the latter.
Don’t feel so bad. The Niners lost in the last minute too. As did the Raiders.

Speaking of that Dallas/San Fran game, it’s pretty amazing how Dallas is 2-1, but they could very easily be 3-0 or just as easily be 0-3. All three of their games so far came down to the last minute or so.
As an Eagles fan, i’d prefer Dallas be 0-3, but that’s just me.

God help me… I hate the Steelers. Ever since I was a 8 years old and the Renfro CATCH was ruled a “bobble.”
Hey, that’s an accomplishment! They normally lose in the first minute!

You know what depresses me? The first two games of the year the whole Giants team played very well except for Eli Manning. The third game of the season Eli played very well and the rest of the team rolled over and played dead.

I grew up in Cleveland hating the Steelers and loving the Browns. I moved to New England 30 years ago, and shifted allegiance to the Patsies when that s%$^head a#&hole who may not be named extorted a free stadium from Baltimore. Today, I root for the Patriots, then I root for the Steelers. Sorry you lost, but we had to win. See you in January.

But it does not sadden me too much.

Missing two starting DB’s and two rookies on the OL. I’ll take it.

Poor clock management lead to this Pats win.
