If one more idiot comments here crying about the fifteen dead because ‘Newsweek lied,’ I am going to start exercising my own nuclear option and start dropping the F-bomb every other word.
Isikoff did not lie- he was lied to, and they were wrong.
You people, if there was no seemingly irresistable urge to bash the media senseless, would not give one shit about the people who died in the riots. On any other day of the fucking week, the title on the post on every right-wing website would be:
“Fifteen Islamofascists Gunned Down in Rabid Anti-American Riot”
And then some pithy comment about 72 raisins or 72 virgins.
Not to mention you apparently would have no problem if they were tortured to death in Bagram.
So quit trying to act all upset about the ‘senseless’ loss of life and kindly STFU and quit trying to pin this on Isikoff.

You are on a roll, man.

It is actually pathetic that people are still trying to blame the Newsweek article when the PRESIDENT of Afghanistan has said that the riots had little, or nothing to do with the Newsweek story.

So, now that it is determined that Newsweek’s editors and journalists are the persuaders of all that is honest truth with just a smattering of careless mistakes, we must therefore accept the truth that “America is Dead”.
What I cannot understand is why indoctrinate the Japanese with this bit of profound information when Americans are the ones in desperate need of such truth?
You go guy, fake but accurate may well set the standard for professional journalism in Dead America.

I was amused that Newsweek would retract their article and then tell the Arabs they were “neutral” on the allegations. Newsweek certainly has two standards of evidence for publishing rumors and then commenting on what they publish. This is what we are told is “journalistic professionalism.” Which is akin to “political principles,”

Standards? How many “standards” for truth does the Bush Administration have?
Newsweek is just a declining newsmagazine. But those other guys … they are fucking up the world big time.
Keep deflecting, though, TJ. It’s what you do.

Much has been made of the fact that Isikoff’s neutrality is his report on Lewinsky. I agree. But what about the fact that Newsweek spiked it even though is was better sourced that the Koran incident. Do you think it was ideological? It is disengenuous to suggest that Isikoff reported it when it was spiked by Newsweek and then reported by Drudge? If it wasn’t published Isikoff didn’t report it. OK?

I happen to think the people spewing the “Newsweek Lied, People Died” crap are complete idiots too.
That being said, it is nice to see certain segments of the left finally realizing that all the bad shit that happens when there are riots are the fault of….THE PEOPLE RIOTING!!!
It’s a shame it took them twelve or thirteen years to figure this out.
Now if they could just realize that what happened in LA in the early 90’s was also the fault of the lowlifes doing the rioting, and not the fault of George Bush Sr, or Daryl Gates, or a Simi Valley jury, they’d really be on to something.
Christie S.
According to Scott McClellan at yesterday’s WH Press Conference, Newsweek wasn’t to blame for the rioting.
Oh, btw, it should be interesting to see him wiggle out of this one.

NEW YORK At a White House press briefing Monday, Press Secretary Scott McClellan, pressed by reporters and with Afghan President Karzai in disagreement, retreated on claims that Newsweek’s retracted story on Koran abuse cost lives in Afghanistan.
He also claimed that he had never said it did, even though a check of transcripts disputes that. On May 16, for example, he said, “people have lost their lives.” On May 17, he said, “People did lose their lives,” and, “People lost their lives” due to the Newsweek report.

Sorry you can’t summon the brain cells to respond to a legitimate question. How can any organization pronounce itself as “professional or worthy of trust” if it employs double standards. Since you approve of these double standards you reveal both your morals and integrity.
