Er, no.
Microsoft’s local fundie himself claims to have been the cause of Microsoft’s change.
The AFL/CIO has very little to do with the story. They certainly didn’t drive it. They’re using for their own purposes, but that doesn’t retroactively change the history of what happened.

According to Richard, Microsoft never supported the bill in question, and it is entirely possible that both the AFL-CIO and the fundie are using disinformation to promote their own agenda.

Microsoft supported it in prior years. They certainly appear to have had a change in policy.
The AFL-CIO would seem to be irrelevant to the issue.

Jon- Your beef is with Richard, then, because he claims they did not support it this year:
Note that this is the official statement of
Justin Faulkner
“Microsoft never supported this year

Seems like Richard has this one wrong.

When MS supports repealing the portion of the Washington State anti-discrimination law that forbids discrimination based on religion, I’ll believe their BS. They won’t, so I don’t (believe their BS that is).
So that means that it would be illegal for a gay man to fire (or refuse to hire) someone because he his a conservative christian, but it is perfectly legal for a conservative christian to fire (or refuse to hire) a gay man.
Looks like the conservative christians have cooked the books–in their favor. And MS approves.

Microsoft is pretty cool. They have a very high freak tolerance, because they fundamentally realie that competence is far more important than kinks. Yeah, ther’s some groups where deviance will get you into trouble, but once you’ve proved that you are a highly competent person, the fact that you come in at 2 PM and listen to loud music becomes irrelevant.
Effective people are worth more than so much more than outsourcable labor.
