Beating ‘Em
The amazing thing about this New York Times article (via John Cole) about Bush’s effort in Florida is that there isn’t even any mention about how the Democrats outspent the Republicans in most states. I don’t have any numbers about…
Matthew Stinson
The article somewhat makes me wish I had stayed back home during this election. I’m from Pasco and I’ve been at events with Bunting before. Pasco is, incidentally, one of the few “southern” parts of central Florida and it’s not uncommon to run into yellow dog Dixiecrats during political discussions. The shift to Bush stems in part from the fact that the county is getting an overflow of middle class soccer moms and NASCAR dads who want to work in Pinellas and Hillsborough but find it too expensive to live there.
I don’t think there’s anything revolutionary about the concept of going to locations where demographics are rapidly changing, but it’s good to see that Bush hit the lesser-known areas as well as the big enclaves. However, this is such common sense that I wonder why Democrats couldn’t muster a similar groundgame.
