While I am sure that Kerry’s frontal assault on Bush and Ayad Allawi moistened the loins of the idiot left, I just want to be on record that it was the most grotesque, obscene, offensive, opportunistic, and disgraceful performance I have ever seen from a politician. Ever.
Senator Kerry- I am now questioning your patriotism and your sanity.
Others comment more cogently than I have or will, as I now view Kerry as a national embarassment.
Could you let Allawi leave the damn country before you called him a liar, John-John? Christ.
I would like to point out that Allawi has also spent more time in a combat zone that Kerry has, so you can keep your Vietnam experiences to yourself, Monsieur Kerry.
*** Update ***
No wonder Kerry left the cookie business. The guy couldn’t sell an Ice cube to a bedouin.
“I laid out a plan which will help America protect our troops,” he says. “We need to bring other allies to the table.”
Ok. So you want other nation’s leaders to expend political capital and treasure and send their lads to risk their lives along with theirs.
So why don’t you act like it? Why aren’t you trying to sell the deal?
Because right now you are calling the U.S. Government incompetent and arrogant. You’re arguing that Iraq is sliding into chaos. You argue that thousands of terrorists are slipping across Iraq’s borders and that it’s become “a magnet for terrorism.”
You dispatch your sister to tell Australia that supporting the United States in the war on terror puts them at greater risk than they were before.
You stand with a straight face and tell nations like the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Italy, who have each shed blood for the freedom of Iraq as part of the coalition, that they’re members of “a fraudulent coalition.”
You can’t even be bothered to leave Ohio to speak with Allawi when he comes to the US to say “thank you.” But you don’t hesitate to all but brand this man–who lives in Iraq every day–a liar, and then have the chutzpah, the gall, the arrogance to tell him from afar that he’s out of touch with the reality on the ground.
You tell the world that you want out while you insist that everyone else pile in–even as you tell them it’s a disaster.
Read the whole thing.
mkultra
Allawi is a CIA trained thug, much like many of the other thugs the CIA worked with. Noriega comes to mind, for example. He is a criminal, and deserves more than Kerry dished out. Why you carry water for this criminal is beyond me. You, sir, are disgusting. Not to mention the fact that every Iraqi with an AK would like to put a bullet between his (former) Baathist eyes. Allawi quot the party only after he realized Saddam was going to off him. And then rather than stay and fight, he ran away to London like a little girl. He is in the same class as Chalabi, who I suppose you also one had a hard-on for, you puss.
Terry
Speaking of thugs, I see that we have one by the name of “mkultra” that dropped by and left a few droppings from their obviously deranged “mind.” How on earth did it find it’s way here from DU or atrios?? Hopefully it will return to the cess pool, which appears likely to be it’s normal habitat.
The Truth Hurts
“Allawi is a CIA trained thug”
Hey moonbat, can you back up that assertion? Or are you just that frustrated that Kerry made a jackass out of himself (yet AGAIN) that you’re willing to spit out anything?
Sandi
Woo! good piece John. Run for something, and I’ll vote for ya.
shark
Seriously, is Kerry openly conspiring with Zarkawi? Or is he just being used by him? You simply cannot tell me Zarkawi (or however you spell his damn name) isn’t taking cues from these speeches.
Kerry is going to have lots of blood on his hands, the terrorists damn well know all they have to do is cause chaos, stop elections, and they can possibly get GWB defeated.
This man is unfit to lead. I pray America sees this in time.
mkultra
Allawi is a stooge. What the hell was he doing here? Who told him to come? Do you really think he came on his own intiative?
Are you people this easily mainuplated by this dog and pony show to believe this crap? The right really is full of idiotic brownshirt types. To the beer hall!!!!
You are truly pathetic.
mkultra
Cole:
You truly are a Brownshirt. You have finally found your home.
Bush is a f***ingo coward. When his country called on him, he did not go into battle. Your support for this coward is sickening. And then you have the nerve to question the patriotism of a man who killed the enemy of his country, while Bush snorted coke? Are you so debased that you cannot see the moral distinction? Are you really that immoral? Shame on you.
You are sick, just sick.
Sandi
Geez mkultra, talk about not seeing the moral distinction. You describe yourself perfectly. Does somebody have a clue club?
He wasn’t called or ordered to go to Viet Nam let alone into battle, just like thousands of others in the national guard were not called. Are you calling all of them cowards too?
You lefties just can’t stand that your man is loosing, and he is going to loose. I think after the elections I will stay in the house for a few days. The streets won’t be safe with your ilk wandering about, and I seriously fret what your next move might be.
A couple of days ago I took my Bush/Cheney bumper sticker off. I live where Kerry supporters are getting angry, and I have been touted and threatened a couple times in places like the grocery store parking lot. Talk about debased and immoral! Ya, I’m pissed, not so much at Kerry, he is just a flip/flopper with no clue. I am pissed at the level the left has stooped to. And every day I read about more violence from Kerry supporters.
pleasewakeupy'all
“I am pissed at the level the left has stooped to.”
Don’t be pissed–look in a mirror. You steep yourself in this one-way street of vitriol, participate in the polarization taking place in America, and you can’t make that connection?

Enoch Root
quoting: “Because right now you are calling the U.S. Government incompetent and arrogant.”
Actually, no. Kerry didn’t say the US Government was incompetent, he said George W. Bush was incompetent. That’s a more than somewhat important distinction, which seems to be lost to the right wing noise machine.

Oliver sure has a nasty following, judging from the moonbat droppings that just hit my screen.
Terry
John, you really must stop linking to the increasingly maniacal and deranged ravings of that loon, Oliver. All sorts of trash from his devoted readers are coming over here and leaving their execrable “thoughts” behind. See especially “mkultra,” which is apparently a contraction of Greek words roughly translated to mean “total moron.”

In and among the insults, mkultra offers us a neat glimpse into the leftist mindset. And while no pure leftist, John Kerry has this in common with them.
Namely, that a foreign leader has to be basically unfriendly to the U.S. to earn their respect. Anyone else? A stooge, a flunky, bought and paid for.

Well, what other kind of country would WANT to associate itself with a nation whose military is a bunch of rapists and child murderers, reminiscent of Jengiss Khan?

Considering that Iraq was a SOVIET client state, shouldn’t Mr. Allawi be a “KGB trained thug?” Or were we just equal-opertunity thug-enablers?

Bush Hate is a religious cult founded upon the principle of nothingness.
IXLNXS
Yes Kerry should have been polite and waited until the puppet left the country before mentioning anything like facts.
Seems the right always find Kerry using facts to be stepping over the line.
How’s about this. You righties all stick your head together and come up with anything, ANYTHING, that Bush has done that’s for the good of all Americans and not just a select few.
I’m betting you’ll be back flogging Kerry in no time at all because touting your candidates good points takes all of two seconds and makes for mighty boring reading.
JPS
“You righties all stick your head together and come up with anything, ANYTHING, that Bush has done that’s for the good of all Americans and not just a select few.”
In the words of the great Ed Koch, IX: “I can explain it to you. I can’t comprehend it for you.”
JPS
OK, that was juvenile. Sorry, IXLNXS; I meant to be flippant, not insulting.
Enumerating Bush’s good points would take me a long time, longer than I have. I’ll start with this:
He doesn’t take a stand just for show. During the China spy plane incident, some on the left shrieked that he was needlessly ramping up tensions with China. Some on the right felt he was wimping out, setting a dangerous precedent. He finessed it, and got our guys back at the price of an irrelevant, almost insulting apology. That was when I first thought I’d misunderestimated the man, about whom I’d been lukewarm until then.
He doesn’t much care about impressing the Very Smart People. This is a good thing. Knows who he is, and doesn’t need the presidency as a vehicle to better self-esteem. I am of course NOT contrasting him to his predecessor in this regard, no sir.
But most of all–and here I am absolutely contrasting him to his predecessor–he could have taken a safe, and overwhelmingly popular road after 9/11. He could have stalled, and hoped that the next one wouldn’t happen on his watch or be blamed on him. Instead he set out to find a long term solution, to overturn the whole rotten order in the Middle East that made this possible, instead of a cosmetic one. He’s endured a lot of extraordinarily unconstructive criticism and personal vilification for this, but he’s kept his head. He’s seen his approval ratings plunge from 90% to 50%, and still he stays the course.
This man is amazing. He’s the bravest politician I’ve seen; the greatest president since FDR, and a lot more forthright.
Sorry if that made for boring reading, but you see unlike the average Kerry supporter I actually can make an impassioned case for my preferred candidate without needing to mention the other fellow.
Brennan Griffin
I still don’t understand why saying that they’re trying to put the best face on things is so disgusting. Its not calling someone a liar, its just, you know, making the best of things.
As for the rest of the criticisms, they’re all pretty true:
Kerry said:
Areas that are no go: Check. 15 out of 18, as Allawi said.
I have a plan: Check. Its the same plan that Bush is trying to follow, and is the only one left to follow. Of course, since Bush got us into this with a poorly managed war, then there’s no reason to think he’s going to turn around and start executing plans.
More troops are dying and more terrorists are attacking: Check.
Is it somehow disgusting to tell the truth all of a sudden?
S.W. Anderson
From an L.A. Times news story: “In a question and answer session after his speech to Congress, Allawi described Baghdad as `very good and safe.'”
The story’s lede: “BAGHDAD
John Cole
Brennan- Go read his speech. Better yet, watch it. He was not merely claiming that Bush and Allawi aree ‘putting the best face on things.’
postit
Kerry called Bush on the blatent electioneering aspect of Allawi’s visit (that’s electioneering by BUSH!).
Does anyone really believe being seen cozying up to Bush would enhance Allawi’s standing with IRAQI’s? Thought not! Thanks for playing.
postit
By the way Alawi’s a big boy, he was after all fairly high up in Sadams government and an operative with Sadam’s security police whilst living in London. I’m sure he will gety over being dissed by JFK for playing sock-puppet with AWOL during a presidential election. Pay more attention to what Allawi says in non rose-tinted garden appearances with the Republican nominee.
Terry
“postit”…another useless moron heard from. I wonder if Oliver and atrios know that one of their dumber acolytes are moonlighting over here…On the other hand, the above comments by “postit” bear all the earmarks of the drivel currently being shoveled by Oliver; maybe he’s resorted to use of an acronym to minimize further damage to a reputation that is rapidly shrinking as his girth is expanding.
Alex
I guess the fact that Allawi was telling lie after bald faced lie to the Congress and the American people doesn’t matter?
Allawi comes over here and delivers a Bush stump speech, and Kerry is supposed to pretend there is factual content to it?
Bizarre notion of patriotism you have: uncritically accepting the untruths offered by one’s political opponents to deceive the American people.
MS
Nothing like the 101st keyboarders to express outrage at the truth. If things are going so swimingly over there I wonder why your silly asses aren’t over there “supporting the troops.” Oh Yeah, your too busy listening to dear leaders happy talk and regurgitaing it on the Talk Radio shows to bhother.
Tina
The problem I am seeing this year is that Democrats are just scared they are losing so many seats in Congress and the White House is slipping away now also. Kerry would be better if he was honest – he went to Vietnam with a video camera and a plan – in his words, he felt it would be advantageous to be for and against the war (sound familiar?). Then he sold out his fellow soldiers with meetings with the enemy because he wanted to jump start a political career. His wife is an embarrassment as a potential First Lady with her insults to Americans. I realize we aren’t all as rich as her, but since Kerry is claiming to be the average man, couldn’t he try and convince her not to insult us?
He claims he will stop outsourcing of jobs – let’s start with the family Heinz business where over 75% of the jobs are outsourced.
He talks about how he will get all those Countries to join the coalition – could it be because they have an agreement already and why they refuse to work with Bush – to help Kerry? Do we really want them anyway if they were opposing the war because they were in Sadam’s pocket and stealing from the citizens of Iraq with the Oil for Food program? Does the truth really matter to lefties? Or is it just the “truth” they want to create.
So, what other soldier took a video camera into the war zone in Vietnam, that was not media? And if he admitted to committing the atrocities, in such a short time being there, why was he never brought up for charges like those in Iraq are now? I don’t want someone with such a dark soul running my Country and selling me out to Europe and the UN because they have some global plan for our Country – I’m not interested in his global scam to sell out the USA and Israel. You can bet he will, just listen to how important his UN ties are in all his speeches. This is why he is not concerned about insulting all the Countries that are part of the coalition, because they don’t matter to him and his special European ties. This man just scares me with what he would do if he had the power, and his wife is a rich snob – coming from an “idiot” based on her assumption of anyone not supporting her husband.

No wonder your party would rather you stayed barefoot and pregnant. You’re to friggin stupid for anything else.
