Chris Dodd’s stature just edged up a notch in my eyes (like he cares):
“Words can sting and hurt,” Dodd told The Associated Press Wednesday. “If in any way, in my referencing the Civil War, I offended anyone, I apologize.”
He said he was trying to make the point that Byrd would have been a good senator at any point, and “I was not thinking of the KKK or his vote against the Civil Rights Act.”
It took him a while, and it is still sort of wormy (“if… I offended anyone” as opposed to just admitting they were offensive remarks), but this is a straight-forward, head-on, candid apology, and not like the Clintonian nonsense we got from Lott for weeks.
Sen. Dodd- I accept, and the issue is over as far as I am concerned.

Much respect, Sen. Dodd.

Now we see the AP refusing to even quote what he said, trying to downplay it, and the NAACP saying the apology wasn’t necessary. The larger point here has been proven and then some…

Nah, I want to see the guy grovel on BET ;)

A tip of the cap for acknowledging that a good man can make a bad remark. And, of course, I agree Dodd was right to come forward with an apology for what was definitely a bad remark.

More PC on parade. Why the double standards?

So Dodd screwed up in his use of inappropriate remarks: he apologized. Way more than many of his leftist political associates would have done. He’s not a favorite of mine but a decent sort none the less.

I love you.
I want you.
I need you.

It’s always nice when someone apologizes!
