For all the fools who said “It is ok to march in peace protests wit people who call Bush Hitler because we are not legitimizing their views, but we are all working for peace,” it is time for you to reap what you have sown:
If you want to hear “hate” coming out of the mouths of school kids, go to the schools of North Korea, as a Dutch television crew did, and you’ll hear hate from that country’s teenagers directed at the United States.
Western television reporters rarely get into North Korea, but remarkably they let a Dutch television crew in to see how they’re using Holland’s most famous book, “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
That diary, of her life in hiding during World War II, is now being studied in North Korea’s schools. But Anne Frank’s plea for peace and freedom got lost in translation.
North Korea is using her diary, not to teach how Anne suffered at the hands of the German Nazis, but to warn the students how they could suffer at the hands of those they call “American Nazis.” Correspondent Mike Wallace reports.
“After reading this book, I had a hatred for the American imperialists,” says one student.
“That warmonger Bush is just as bad as Hitler. Because of him we will always live in fear of war,” says another student.
Useful Idiots. We told you what your irresponsible speech helped to accomplish, yet you told us how patriotic you were. The name really says it all. Useful Idiots.

Firstly, welcome back Mr. Cole.
Secondly, I think you are making quite a stretch here. I just don’t see how the cretins of the Youth Spartacist League, or ANSWER, or whatever, influenced Kim Jong Il in such a way that he made every schoolchild in his personal feif read the Diary of Anne Frank. If the story had suggested that Kim or someone else in NorK-land had been inspired by the ANSWER protests, then yes, I’d agree with you.
But in this particular case, I suspect that the NorKs are just following a much longer and larger trend. I can recall reading of comparisons of America to Nazi Germany way back in the days of Vietnam. Also, the anti-globo crowd has been claiming that the US is engaged in a variety of crimes, such as “cultural imperialism” or “cultural genocide” with regard to our relationship to developing nations. This sort of comparison easily transitions into violations of Godwin’s Law.

It’s like you didn’t watch the report and made up s*it to fit your agenda. The students in question werent looking to protestors, but theyre own govt’s perverted message. N Korea considered us imperialists a long time before GWB became president.
John Cole
You don’t think King Jong Il supplements this nonsense with newsreels showing Bush/Hitler signs? With quotes from the IHT where German Ministers and average Frenchman are calling Bush Hitler? With pictures of people marching in Washington DC holding signs of George Bush with A Hitler mustache and a swastika?
Think again.
John Cole
Oliver- I watched the damned show on Sunday. Don’t tell me what I did and did not do.
Oliver
Well based on ths stupid logic involved in the post it sure didnt seem like you watched it.

Anne Frank: Useful Idiot. Got it.
Rick
‘“For world peace, America will have to be destroyed,” adds another student. “Only then, will Anne’s wonderful dream of peace come true.”’
Nah…doesn’t resemble the Bush=Hitler/big puppets and stilts crowd at all.
Cordially…

I watched the show. The brainwashing of those kids is amazing. Then to see the starving kids in the countryside was heartbreaking.
It sure looks like some of the DU people write propaganda for N. Korea, or the other way around.

Weak.

Wow, scraping the bottom of the barrel, eh Cole?

If the Bush=Hitler crowd were as equally condemnatory of Kim Jong Il and the North Korean tyranny, the regime wouldn’t use them in their own propaganda efforts because they would be elevating the stature of these people and giving their criticism of N. Korea legitimacy.
I didn’t see the particular program but I do know that the formula is at least as old as Lenin. People who get incorporated into communist propaganda campaigns have to be reliable across the board.

Just how much independent news do you think North Koreans get?
I’d guess they only get what their Little King Turd allows. Which means it wouldn’t include any criticism of North Korea, from any source.

Shorter John Cole:
“All patriotic Americans will cede their right to free speech, because the evil hermit kingdom is watching.”

Oliver is just upset because someone would think that this is someone more evil than Bush. ;)
After all DRPK is a worker’s paradise. Amerika is the spawn of satan

Jon H – Paranoid doesn’t even begin to cover the N. Korean regime. North Koreans don’t get a lot of independent news but you can bet that any foreigner who is shown or praised in the land of juche isn’t going to turn around and say anything bad about Kim Jong Il and company.
Being in a N. Korean propaganda program is a reasonable stamp of authenticity in the useful idiot brigade. In my book, that’s a mark of shame.

Uh, why not? Anything bad they say won’t air in North Korea.
For that matter, how the hell is the foreigner supposed to know of their North Korean fame? Is there a juche channel on DirectTV?
Use your brain.

Man, am I stuffed! I just ate a nice big Steak sandiwich, nicely done and heaped on a big crusty garlic roll, with fried onions and a nice side of creamy creamed spinach with a heaping slice of apple pie ala mode for dessert. Now this “nazi warmonger” will laugh his ass off while these stupid N. Korean idiots forage the countryside for some nice juicy grass to eat.
HEY NORTH KOREAN IDIOT! WHY DON’T YOU WORRY ABOUT YOUR REGIME STARVING YOU TO DEATH AND NOT WORRY ABOUT US? USE YOUR BRAINCELLS AND REALIZE THAT YOUR SHITSTAIN COUNTRY HAS NOTHING WE EITHER WANT OR NEED!
Harry
Man you really riled the left wing nuts with this one. They sound not so much like the protestations of quilty consciences as the bleatings of worried minds. Have they inadvertantly helped the Norks? Who knows? But it’s gotta be worrisome no doubt.
And remember it’s patriotic for North Koreans to starve. Go North Korea, stick to evvilll Amerikkka and Bushitler. What a bunch of friggin’ left wing marooons.
edwardpig
So John, when will you be posting about Tom Cole’s (any relation?) irresponsible comment that voting against Bush would be like voting for Hitler?
If Kerry wins, Kim Jong Il might show that video to schoolchildren too, you know.
Doc
Dude, you are wound too freakin’ tight! Take the stick outa your ass
