Check out this revolting puff piece on Al Sharpton in the NY Times. I don’t get it- Sharpton is scum of the earth, and this is a rather positive piece. Dean has done nothing but serve as a 5 time governor, and the NY Times puts a hit piece out on him. What gives?

Actually, they are probably afraid he will burn the NYT building a la Freddy’s Fashion Mart.

I thought it was pointed out a long time ago that aside from normal biases against things conservative, the news media has gotten rather drunk on its power/ability to lift up the underdog and bring down the top dog. They loved Bush until he pulled ahead, then loved McCain. They loved Bradley.
They made Clinton by not giving him the same treatment they gave Gary Hart, mainly because he was the underdog. Once he was elected, they enjoyed tearing him down, too, until it looked like he might actually get impeached, and then they helped pick him back up by swallowing his “definition of ‘is'” and other whoppers.
After Dean wins the nomination and is an underdog to Bush, Dean’ll be their fair-haired boy, just like he was when he started and was an underdog to Kerry or Leiberman….

I hope Sharpton stays in the race as long as possible and gets a prime speaking slot at the convention.
Just watch all those undecided voters run to Bush.
I still have my offer open of a $100 donation to the campaign of any Democratic candidate who in a debate calls Sharpton on either Freddy’s Fashion Mart, Yankel Rosenbaum, or Tawana Brawley (or any of his numerous other instances of anti-semitism or race-hustling).
But, they won’t because they don’t have the guts. They like Sharpton because he can say things the other candidates can’t, because he’ll be dismissed as a nut.
Although, considering Howard Dean floated out the idea that Bush was warned about 9-11, maybe Sharpton is only the second biggest nut running.
