Meet the new Rwandan President, same as the old Rwandan President:
President Paul Kagame will remain in office for another seven years, according to returns tonight in Rwanda’s presidential election.
With all ballots tallied, Mr. Kagame had 94.3 percent of the vote, according to a preliminary count.
He has held the job since 2001 as part of a transitional government set up after the frenzy of ethnic violence nine years ago in which Hutu extremists killed 800,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu.
You have a lot to learn, Mr. Kagame. Saddam got close to 100% of the vote.
Seriously, I am not sure how good or bad Kagame is, but let me state that I have a hard time accepting any election results where ANY candidate gets over 90% of the vote. Thatt is, IMHO, not a “big democratic step that has been taken by our country,” as the President elect stated. It tells me something stinks.
