| How old are you?John is 39. I have no idea how old the others are. | 19 Sep, 2009 11:42 AM |
| Please tell us more about John Cole and the origin of the site, and his change in political viewpoints. Love the site, and it's clear there is some history behind it, but those of us who are new to the site don't know where to learn about it. Work in progress. We will deal with this shortly. | 19 Sep, 2009 12:19 PM |
| How do we add to the BJ dictionary? I see a whole plethora of words to define. Also. Poop. I will create an open thread and have people add their submissions, then post them. | 21 Sep, 2009 5:40 PM |
| Some sort of history of John's political realignment, with links to relevant posts, would seem appropriate. I basically know the story, but that's the question about the site that I recall seeing asked most frequently in the comments, and so it seems like a perfect candidate for the FAQ.I'll ask someone to look them up. Quite frankly, some of my archives is pretty damned embarrassing and wish would just go away. | 21 Sep, 2009 6:59 PM |
| Why is it that here on the FAQ page the "contact" and "Dictionary" links aren't actually hyperlinks that function? Not a burning issue, but I'm being invited to ask a question ...Because we just had them installed and I have to add the definitions. Work in progress, in other words. | 21 Sep, 2009 7:02 PM |
| Is it true you used to be a conservative?Yes. I was a Republican from the time I was 14 years old, going to county GOP meetings. I went to summer camp for the local teen-age Republicans group, and was a Republican up through 2007, although I had basically left the party after Terri Schiavo in 2005. Before that, I was a full-fledged Republican and you can check the archives to see exactly how crazy I was. The final straw for me (link) was the stalking of Graeme Frost in Baltimore who had the balls to give an address that he was helped by SCHIP. | 22 Sep, 2009 1:26 PM |
| Hi guys. I love your blog. I always learn a lot and come away with a great laugh. I have been reading you for a year of so now, and I have never seen you write anything about your educational or professional backgrounds (maybe once or twice Doug or Tim, I can't remember which, have mentioned they work in the sciences) or how you became interested in politics. I realize you guys prefer to remain relatively anonymous, which I completely understand, but it would be very interesting to have a sort of generic backgrounder on you, if you're willing to let your readers know anything. Thanks.I don't talk about my own work, because my job has nothing to do with this blog, and vice versa. Obviously Tim and Dougj are pseudonymous, while Anne Laurie is merely using her first name, so I am not sure how much they will divulge. | 22 Sep, 2009 1:38 PM |
| What server does John play on?Used to play Mug'thol, Eitirgg, and Sargeras. I don't anymore. I just have too much stuff going on and a dog and a cat. For the uninitiated, this is World of Warcrack speak. | 22 Sep, 2009 3:23 PM |
| What is the origin of this blog's name?I had a roommate from Newcastle who constantly referred to idle chatter and gossip as "balloon juice," because it is just hot air from people gabbing. | 23 Sep, 2009 1:21 AM |
| Will John consider implementing a weekly "new recipe" feature? We already sort of do, on Thursday nights, when I remember. If you have something else in mind, email me or put it in an open thread. | 23 Sep, 2009 10:16 AM |
| How did you go from being "just John" posting to John and Tim F and DougJ and Anne Laurie posting? All three of them were commenters I enjoyed reading, and I asked them to join the team. Tim was first in 2005, the for a year and a half Michael D. posted, we also had Tom in Texas, and then Anne Laurie and DougJ joined this year. | 23 Sep, 2009 11:32 AM |
| When did Tunch first come into your life? And Lily?I got Tunch in 2002-2003, and Lily in the Summer of 2009. | 23 Sep, 2009 11:35 AM |
