Tim has pretty much beat me to every topic I was even remotely interested in, but I beat him on this: Cindy Sheehan has now posted her 97th GBCW post at DKOS.
In all seriousness, it will be interesting to watch the internal politics within the progressive movement play out on the pages of DKOS, especially since the editorial direction set by Kos is that of electing Democrats.
A quick aside- in the past 24 hours, Bush has ordered a private citizen to defy Congress, has issued what I suggest should be called the “Black Knight Iraq Progress Report,” John McCain’s campaign has been derailed by Gay sweaters, and a McCain campaign official has been derailed for soliciting gay sex from an undercover officer. These are heady times for Democrats.

If you keep picking at that, it will never heal.
Jake
Fixed.
And I’m pretty sure this post was titled “I beat Tim” a minute ago.

They’d be a lot headier if they’d get some smarts, some courage and an inkling of the concept of strategy.-
cleek
i can’t wait to see how, one by one, the Dems piss all these advantages away.
Bubblegum Tate
I was about to say the same thing. Gooooooo cynicism!

YET ANOTHER link to Cindy diary on DKos?! Are you on her campaign payroll or what? Or just in it for the parts?
Okay, I’ll leave Cindy alone, and look forward to her next farewell post and/or retirement. There’s still some days left in this week.
BTW, you got an apostrophe at the end of your Black Knight link that’s screwing it up.
Dreggas
John Don’t forget this. After all what’s a day without religious nutjobs invading the senate?
chopper
oh, dKos, i do love it when you get into a tizzy over something or other.
Dave
Three for the cynical Dems’ll blow all their advantages. Hell, the GOP has filibustered almost everything the Dems have brought forth and I don’t hear a peep out of them about it. I see a lot of wingnuts yelling that the Dems haven’t done anything to pass their agenda.
Richard Bottoms
Who gives a shit about Cindy Sheehan. The concern trolls only have our own best interests at heart as Democrats. Right.
Here’s what’s going to happen in 2008. The GOP having lost two wars and killed or wounded 24,000 troops in the process will get their asses handed to them.
canuckistani
DKos can’t win. Either they’re a hive of nutbars and whackos, or they’re intolerant locksteppers who shout down the nutbars and whackos.
Dreggas
Tell me about it LOL.
Of course in this instance I am more than happy to pile on.
chopper
john cole beat tim f when he saw him at Hot Topic?
this is quite the blog scandal.

Cindy Sheehan isn’t allowed to post at my blog either–not because she’s running against a Democrat, but because she says appallingly stupid things.
Not that she’s ever asked to post at my (extremely low readership) blog, of course. I just decided I wouldn’t let her.
Also: as a San Franciscan, I resent the hell out of some suburbanite carpetbagger from Vacaville (that’s butchered Spanish for ‘cow town’) thinking she can come here and run for Congress in a district about which she knows nothing whatsoever. Let her run in Sacramento or whatever middle-of-nowhere hellhole she’s living in.

For Republicans, too.
Justin
If I have this straight, Allen (R) wanted to pay $20 to deliver, not to receive, a blowjob.
See? The new security locks on the Congressional page’s dorm work!
Dreggas
Yeah Tim was trying to buy the last pair of skinny pants in John’s size.

All I had to do was order some pizza.

Well THAT’S IT.
I’m voting for republicans from now on.
Rome Again
That is correct, he wanted to receive money to be able to suck someone’s dick. He’s not only a closet homosexual, he’s also a male prostitute.
We have a hooker in Congress! Yippeeeee!
Rome Again
Of course this falls under “you’re judged by the company you keep”
I meant to say that.
jake
Yup. Talk about a risky business transaction: Why sure possible Jeff Dahmer copy-cat dude, bon appetit!
Nope. Nope. Nope.
Note however, that if Allen hadn’t offered cash he would have been able to mount the Lonnie Latham defense.
MNPundit
*Yawn about internal fireworks. Thanks for the link actually, because I’d been trying to find any front-page type stuff about Shaheen but it had been pretty quite, also on the diaries list as far as I could tell by the titles.

John Cole: Paying attention to Cindy Sheehan when no one else wants to anymore. That’s true love, that is.
As for the Democratic Senate… they simply don’t have the votes to overcome GOP obstructionism. When the GOP was using every procedural dirty trick it could think of to ignore and smash Democrats, it had a 55-45 majority, and could rely on Lieberman, Nelson, Landreau, and a couple more to reach 60 votes whenever it needed to.
The Dems in the Senate just don’t have numbers like that. They really do have a razor thin majority. It’s been enough to change the agenda, which is important, but not enough to get legislation passed.
With luck, the Democrats will have an unassailable majority in both Houses after 2008. With luck, there will be a Democratic President then, too.

Gay sweaters?? Gay sex from an undercover officer???
I demand links to these epic stories!
Rome Again
Well, I don’t have the link to gay sweaters, but I do have the link to the gay sex from an undercover officer (although, technically it wasn’t gay sex FROM an undercover officer, it was solicitation to perform gay sex ON an undercover officer).
andykelly
The “honest conservative” stuff is wearing a little thin, John. At this point everyone with any sense is a DFH. Bitching about other DFH’s just makes you sound like “Morning Joe.”
No matter how you feel about the DFH’s, they’re offering something different and smarter than the people you cheerleaded into office.
Nice job on Osama, Al Qaeda, etc., by the way. Thanks for the heroin.
jake
Gay sweaters.
I wish the Log Cabin Republicans would just say they endorse McCainiac. I bet his head would go ka-blooie. But I haven’t heard from them lately. Perhaps they are still a bit miffed their party has made them into an Axillary Back-up Evil, second only to the Turrists.
Fe E
andykelly, What is a DFH?
The Other Steve
Frankly, I think the Democrats are going to overreach in pushing their Liberal agenda in Congress.
2008 is looking to be a good year for the Republican Party!
The Other Steve
And to echo ElitistJohn’s troll-rated comment:
“Bye Attention Whore! Don’t let the door hit you and the phony sanctimony in the butt on the way out.
Have a nice day!”
I would have uprated it, but I fear the Gestapo.
Cyrus
I love how the formatting on this particular blog turns the letter r in parentheses into (R) rather than simply (R ). (I hope that second one works.) It’s so appropriate for political discussion.

DKos had it’s uses over the last few years, but who has time now to find the informative posts? Just too much background noise.
ConservativelyLiberal
What is it with these latest Repug sexcapades? I have paid attention to politics for many years, but it seems like a lot of skeletons that are coming out of the closet have been from the right.
I have been reading the defenses given for Vitter over at RedNeckState and other wingnut sites, and they are almost universally excusing his actions. Some of the distinctions have been pretty subtle, like ‘being alone in DC without the wife can get to a man’ (eg: Hillary was in da house) and ‘at least he did not do it in his office’.
I really miss the true conservatives. Like the wingnuts say about radicals hijacking Islam, the Republican party has been hijacked by racists, religious nuts and big business. The Dems have their share of woes, but their extreme elements have not taken over like has happened on the right. If the right stays the way it is, and the moonbats take over the Dems, we in the middle may have to make our own party so we can be represented.
It sucks being in the middle. Neither party represents the majority of the people unless the people raise their voices and scream at them in unison. Even then, they act like they did not hear us, instead they portray it as doing the right thing for the public.
John, you need to get it in gear here! There is lots of stuff out there that you are not jumping on. A few of them:
Doctors in California are rejecting Blue Cross insurance since BC is cutting costs again (read increasing profits). We have Blue Cross insurance, but it is plain crappy. Ten years ago, our insurance covered everything with the co-pay. Now we are getting bills for the balance that they are not covering, based on the fact that they are denying all kinds of stuff now. Now Doctors are refusing to accept BC since they are compensating at rates lower then Medicare.
Bill Moyers on impeachment. This show was priceless, and every American needs to see it. If Bruce Fein, the man of Clinton impeachment fame, is calling for Congress to step up and do their job, you know things are getting bad.
Get it in gear d00d! As they say, shit happens. And if shit was gold, there is a mine full out there for the taking…
