That was very nice of them, and ditto on the “much deserved” comment. Really, who else would put up with we hooligans with the humour that you exhibit?

Sums you up pretty well.
You acerbic corporate whore.

Way to go, John.
Hearty congrats.

Agreed.
Although I don’t quite understand the recommendation for Malkin or Al Sharpton.

Yeah, way to go John. When I first stumbled upon your site, I knew it was be a must-read place for me.

Congratulations, cool….I love your romantic acerbity (is that a word?). My favourite blog of all…your willingness to look at everything (well almost everything) without a righteous knee-jerk in turn makes me do the same…plus I thoroughly enjoy the wit…
Congrats, and a question: what’s the record for the number of replies to a thread? The FISA argument is up to 301 right now… sadly, half of them are along the lines “Shut up/No you shut up” schoolyard give-and-take… :-/

Does it actually feel good to be complimented in the same breath as Michelle Malkin? Serious question.

Congratulations, John. Now, if you can only find regular visitors whose comments on your site don’t boil down to unrestrained sarcasm bordering on Tourette’s Syndrome. (Of course, I’m referring to ppJazzhands and his clones.)

Stumbled across the site tonight, and already see you’re well deserving of praise. :)

I’m with Steve. You well deserve the mention, but putting you up with Malkin (and after her, no less) is damning you with faint praise.

Much deserved. To be in the same company as Micheal Yon is a true honor in blogging/journalist sense.
He did fail to mention the best part of your blog and the real reason people flock to your site: Cat Blogging.
Merry Christmas!
Your Faithful Reader,
Tony Alva

Perhaps I’m just old and don’t “get it”, but the blogosphere appears to be a more self-congratulatory wind tunnel than even Hollywood.

Hmmm, ‘interesting read’, OK. Now, ‘a rationalist’…
You have a “reasoned defense” of the Iraq war? News to me. Pray tell what would it be? I’ve never read anything from you this past year that resembles anything close to a coherent post about why you believe the Iraq war is the right thing to do. And if you’ve written about that in the past, your archives are missing so as not to be able to find them.
We can find all sorts of things you don’t believe in on this site, but why we are fighting in Iraq or a reasoned defense of that policy doesn’t seem to be one of them.
I thought it was funny! And you still managed to post coherent sentences. But ok, you seem to remember the headaches of the morning after :P

John Cole Says:
I vote pathetic and sad.
But that’s what makes you likeable. A lot of blog owners have seem to feel that they crap diamonds out of a platinum asshole. (Sorry…) You let us see the real you, flaws and all.
I was going to say “warts and all”, but figured that it wouldn’t do to have rumours circulating about you having warts.

John…
…If praise from Michelle Malkin or pride in being lumped with her vitriolic spew is comforting to you…you need a good look in the mirror.

And thanks for all your work on keeping this operation up and open, JC.

I’m still trying to figure out if that’s admirable, or just sad. Don’t haul that trick out on the first date, John.
