Woofstock

Tammy and I took Samantha and Lily to “woofstock,” a dog show sort of thing run by a local animal group. Was kind of fun, with lots of pets and their people, some booths selling pet goods, and some silly stuff like a “Boston Marathon” where they raced Boston Terriers. Both dogs behaved very well, and here are some pics:

Yes, I know she is not supposed to ride like that, but sometimes I let her anyway.

The girls behaving. They both were really good, especially considering how many dogs were there. This pic is for Tbogg:

daisy

That was Daisy, the most adorable little Basset Hound puppy. And finally, this is for Oliver Willis:

dachsund

You haven’t lived until you have watched a Dachsund run agility drills.

I’m heading to tTammy and Brian’s to make dinner, so you all behave.

By the time you got to Woofstock, were you half a million strong?

Awww- Lily looks so sweet and did she tell you which way to turn? Seeing that Bassett Hound makes me sad. I had one but, lost custody after the divorce- geez hope he is still alive. :( Looks like a fun time…

Have fun John and Lily. Bring Tunch the leftovers.

Any chance you have pictures of the “boston marathon?”

I love how Lily’s tail curls up, kind of basenji-like.

I needed dog pix after a week of the Wasilla Hillbilly, the healthcare debate, and the general silliness that is American politix and current events.

Needed this, rough week with our puppy, almost died after her spay. Infection -> meningitis? Pretty touch and go, but at least she’s standing/walking now.

I hate vets so much. No, you cannot send my dog for an MRI, it doesn’t even affect the treatment possibilities. Arrggh!

Just remember that she’s between you and an airbag that already has a decent chance of breaking your nose when it deploys.

P.S. At this event you went to, are there door prizes or anything? Do you get a WoofStocking for attending? Did you bring something home for Tunch?

    FTW

My mothers dog used to love when I stuck her out of the sunroof…on quiet country roads of course

Her “head” out the sunroof… sheesh, no edit button

Cole captioned the picture, but I’ll take the credit anyway. ; )

once while out for a walk i saw what looked like a volunteer fireperson coming up the road. as it got closer, i realized what i thought was a blue light on top of the suv was instead the head of a rhodesian ridgeback fully out through the sunroof.

big suv, even bigger damn dog.

@GReynoldsCT00: Whether you stuck your mother’s entire body or just her head out the sunroof, it’s in poor taste for the dog to laugh at it.

Oh goody. John Mccain just got his rictus grinning corpse a phote op to be played ad nauseum tomorrow.

“You wouldn’t call that a death panel?”

    Fuck you McCain, DIAF.

I remain unconvinced that much was required in the way of agility for that dachshund to avoid the sides of the tire on his way through.

First it was Tunch’s Left Paw Of Doom. Now we have the Left Hand Of Cole.

    Lily is incomparable. Love her.

If the next picture is Lily driving with John on her lap, we may have to call the police….

Lily looks so happy in that first picture. She must feel like a princess when you let her sit in the driver’s seat.

You have officially become a dog nerd. Next thing you know you will be dressing Lily in tutus and taking her to doggie beauty contests. I’ve been considering this route myself, but it’s tough to find a ballerina outfit for a 100-lb Rhodesian.

Heh…in the first pic, it looks like Lily grew herself a large, hairy human arm, and is now testing it by going for a drive.

    Manimal!

Samantha looks like an adorable mop, as always. And the mental imagery of a Dachsund doing agility drills…I’m giggling just thinking about it.

Sounds like you had a great day, Cole.

My cats travel almost everywhere with me, and though I know that I ought not, I generally leave them loose in the car. (Ever tried to get a seat belt on a cat?) The big Maine coon lies in my lap and drools like a St. Bernard, the white one lies on the arm rest. It’s good incentive to drive more carefully.

I used to have a Great Dane and an MGB, and he loved to ride with his head up over the windshield, his upper lip billowed like a spinnaker in the wind. (He wore a seatbelt.)

Random thoughts on dog sporting events:

Earlier this year, Petsmart had a serious of chihuahua races around the country, including near me. I was really sorry I couldn’t actually go to see it. It’s hard to imagine anything funnier.

One of these days I want to attend dog trials, the kind that Babe the Pig won in the movie Babe. When I lived in the DC area they used to have sheep-herding trials somewhere in Virginia and I always meant to go, but never did.

Heh. Wait until you see Dachshund racing.

(I heard that camel racing used to be equivalent, until a bunch of people with no sense of humor actually took it seriously and started training camels.)

I was about to mention that I just had my fill of puppeh love when I went to my parents’ house, but my cat has now taken over my lap so so much for that idea.

@Randy P: They often have sheepdog trials at Highland Games. I’ve seen them at Pleasanton, CA.

LOL. That first picture really does say, “Chill, I got this.”

    Go, Lily!
