Jenny Sanford filed a new complaint in their 4-year-old divorce case, saying a “substantial change of circumstances” has developed, so the ex-governor’s visitation with his youngest son should be limited.
She also is asking the court to require Sanford to undergo a psychiatric evaluation and enroll in anger management and parenting programs.

Something is going on with Darren Wilson’s funding pages.
“Oganizers have remained silent on why donation pages raising more than $400,000 for the police officer who killed an unarmed black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Mo., were shut down without explanation over the weekend.
A related Facebook page has been deleting comments from those who raise questions about the accountability of the donations.
And who is valiantly raising money for this hero?
The three officers listed on Shield of Hope’s state nonprofit records are Joseph Eagan, Timothy Zoll and Jeffrey Roorda. …Roorda is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives who is running for state Senate. He is also a former police officer.
Roorda sponsored a bill in January that would keep police officers’ names secret if they were involved in a shooting unless they were criminally charged. That bill went nowhere.
Roorda was fired from the police force of Arnold, a St. Louis exurb, in 2001. His superiors accused him of filing a false statement against a suspect in 1997 and against his own police chief when the chief declined to give Roorda paid paternity leave, according to Missouri court records.

@efgoldman: One time I was driving home at night on a freeway. It was one of those foggy nights where the street lights seem shrouded in gloom. A light mist that made it hard to see the road ahead.
I was driving on a freeway and suddenly traffic slowed down. Through the fog I could see there was stuff on the road but until I was right on top of it I didn’t know what it was. Turns out some truck had lost a load of raw meat and it was scattered all across the roadway. The entire freeway was covered with hunks of meat. There was nowhere to go but forward through it. As we all drove slowly forward, the vehicles in front would thump-thump-thump over it and pieces of raw meat would fly up onto the vehicles behind. There’s nothing quite like thumping over hunks of raw meat on the road while having small chunks of raw meat splatter across your windshield and the entire front of your vehicle.
It was absolutely disgusting.

Jenny Sanford also is seeking to have a guardian ad litem – a court-appointed official – to look after their youngest son’s best interests on the ongoing legal proceedings, and she is seeking to have the case sealed from the public.
Her request to seal the record cited the previous media and public interest in the case, as well as her son’s status as a high school sophomore.
“I believe that the allegations in this case will have the potential to cause our son unnecessary embarrassment and ridicule,” her affidavit says. “Further … I would like him to be able to share his concerns and wishes free from public scrutiny.”

Mr. Christie, usually known for his oratorical sure-footedness, offered a wobbly reply, displaying little grasp of the facts and claiming that if he were in charge, Vladimir V. Putin, the Russian president, would know better than to mess with him.
According to an audio recording of the event, he said Mr. Putin had taken the measure of Mr. Obama. “I don’t believe, given who I am, that he would make the same judgment,” Mr. Christie said. “Let’s leave it at that.”

@Mandalay: @Violet: It seems to me that her first request is really the crux of the issue.
Exposing their youngest son “overnight to a member of the opposite sex not related to the plaintiff or defendant through blood or marriage.”
This can be a reasonable concern for young children, but not for a high school sophomore. But if she is overly religious, I am not shocked that she would be appalled by the idea of her ex-husband freely fornicating in the same house as her innocent child. It also seems to indicate that she would be OK with her ex-husband having a gay lover stay overnight while that child was in the house ;)
@Comrade Mary: What’s also interesting is the numbers almost always go at the end. It’s not “1Football”; it’s “Football1”. That simple change might help make a much more robust password.
While Apple should make it harder for these things to happen, this is effectively a massive, targeted attack on the accounts of specific individuals, not unlike what our spy agencies do. Celebrities need tremendously more security than the rest of us, and they are not inherently well equipped for doing so. Nobody wants to have to go to a security professional before setting up a personal device, but these people really do need to do that – and that professional better be 100% reliable, or they’re right back where they started.
This ultimately comes down to needing better security concepts than we employ now.
The root cause is still patriarchy, no matter how stupid their passwords.

While Apple should make it harder for these things to happen, this is effectively a massive, targeted attack on the accounts of specific individuals
and apparently it sets off no alarm bells at Apple that certain accounts are being massively attacked. hmmm
They already skipped the ‘three tries and we start slowing down repsonse dramatically’ bit of code. So it looks worse for their security team. Aren’t these celebrities their customers? And wouldn’t protecting the accounts of celebrity customers be good for business?

Celebrities need tremendously more security than the rest of us, and they are not inherently well equipped for doing so. Nobody wants to have to go to a security professional before setting up a personal device, but these people really do need to do that – and that professional better be 100% reliable, or they’re right back where they started.
This ultimately comes down to needing better security concepts than we employ now.

@Comrade Mary: “Fuckyou1” AND “Fuckyou2”.
The root cause is still patriarchy, no matter how stupid their passwords.

@beth: A disgraced politician who made a national laughing stock of his marriage lands on his electoral feet a few years later, and his ex can’t handle it. It’s understandable, but face it– if she had another weapon in her vendetta arsenal, she would have buried him by now. The moral being: some chicks just can’t let go.
Suzanne
@Comrade Mary: Didn’t mean to seem like I was saying fuck you, either with a 1 or a 2 afterward. Just laughing that both of those came up.
Of course, when a site prompts me to enter an email address, they get “[email protected]”. My ex husband did “[email protected]”.

@catclub:
Not really; it’s because we write from left to right.
I suspect that a lot of passwords for languages that are written from right to left, such as Arabic, would be formed from characters on the right side of the keyboard rather than the left.

@? Martin:
and apparently it sets off no alarm bells at Apple that certain accounts are being massively attacked. hmmm
They already skipped the ‘three tries and we start slowing down repsonse dramatically’ bit of code. So it looks worse for their security team. Aren’t these celebrities their customers? And wouldn’t protecting the accounts of celebrity customers be good for business?

@Suzanne:
I sorry that you broke up. He sounds like a keeper.

@Dog On Porch: She had a chance to bury him by running against him in the primary election. She’s a pretty smart woman (Wall Street background, IIRC) and still had a bunch of sympathy going for her but she chose not to run for office, ostensibly for her children’s sake.
Suzanne
@Mandalay: He has his moments.

@Comrade Mary:
Either that list is combined from all English-speaking countries, or British sports/sports teams are way more popular in the US than I ever realized.

On Mark Sanford; as the son of a verbally abusive asshole of a father, who after taking me and my sister from school, promising us we would never see my mother again, and then attacking her car windshield with a tire iron when she tracked us down, brought a preacher to court to vouch for his loving character; I am immediately suspicious of claims of bitter ex wives just using kids because they are totes jealous. Yes I’m biased, but why on earth would Jenny Sanford want some old horndog back or be jealous of his tramp new wife? Did that sound impartial?

There are 7 different variants on Jesus. That is not anywhere near enough jesus and yet also too much.

Nonsense. A couple of weeks ago, he said, “I’m not a prophet, but I see things.” Nuff said.

John, I haven’t hung out here for a long time so I don’t know if you’re on about those things anymore but if you read this, could you pls tweet Greenwald and ask him his position on Rand promissing he would bomb Iraq if he only were President? Would be so much fun!

Where the heck do the line-noisey ones like l6fkiy9oN come from? Dvorak keyboards?

@debbie: Beck’s current dipping of his mental toes in the pool of sanity is just something any really good showman does to keep their career going, also known as “keep ’em guessing”. It really adds that “wow, what will he say next; I simply must tune in!” bit O fun.
