I’m off to Peactree City to run the Peachtree City Classic 15k. Have a great weekend!

Update: Oh, and this, too, also.

Update II: First of all, Peachtree City is a nice, quaint little town. I enjoyed hanging out in a small place for once. My partner and I stayed at Dolce – a very nice hotel.

Second, I finished the run in about 1:27 (He did it in 1:08.) I have never run more than 10k (6.2 miles) in my life. I did this run without stopping. This was an great course. I can’t wait to do it again next year. In fact, Halef and I are going to make it a point ot go to PTC once every few weeks or so to run the same course. The thing about it is that it is so scenic. For me, it distracted from the fact that I was doing more than I’ve ever done before. It was, in a word, awesome.

After we hear that Obama may be moving staff back into Georgia and North Dakota and entering Kentucky, out come poll numbers showing Noriega only six points behind Cornyn in Texas. This result is consistent with the poll from two weeks ago, showing Noriega behind by only seven. Perhaps the DSCC will shove some money into that state, too.

I disagree with this court decision and fully support the Ohio GOP. The interests of the GOP will be irreparably harmed if voters are allowed to cast ballots on election day.

I wonder if anyone has ever done the math: The amount of money the GOP spends pulling dirty tricks, throwing tanturms and spreading bullshit v. The amount of time spent addressing actual issues.

Her latest pearls of wisdom from the campaign trail:

Giving credit to a higher power for the day’s poll ratings, the Alaska governor told the roughly 500-person audience that things might be changing. "We even saw today, thank the Lord," she said, looking upwards and raising her fist, "We saw some movement."

Palin also made a point of mentioning that she loved to visit the "pro-America" areas of the country, of which North Carolina is one. No word on which states she views as unpatriotic.

Nice to know she can find a "pro-America" place to visit – in America, who’d imagine it??!!

@Comrade Dread: Washington Monthly has the quote Camp McPalin released to clarify her remarks.

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe" — here the audience interrupted Palin with applause and cheers — "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation."

Let’s see. Palin and her ilk shit on D.C. in order to get people to vote for them so they can move to D.C.

I’m also fairly damn certain that insulting your nation’s capital makes you a Islahomofascist, but seeing as I was born and raised here I’m too unpatriotic and fake to tell.

From The Raw Story about a recent Palin rally in Ohio

Another woman stated, "Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white, that he might hide that." A third suggested, "I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash — because we’re not."

And some people are worried about the dem image from verifying Joe the Plumbers rantings. Or the hypocrisy of pointing out the racist aspect of an Obama sticker on Curious George, or even that some in this country haven’t quite put out sprouts of Human from the Simian branch of the Evolution Tree.

    There’s more

The al-Jazeera crew interviewed one St. Clairsville Obama supporter who, they report, has been "shocked at the names he’s been called by his own neighbors." "I’ve been called the n-word," this man stated. "I’ve been called a Muslim, I’ve been called a un-American." He went on to say, "The tension’s getting thicker and thicker. People like that, it’s starting to scare me. … I’m afraid some of these people might try to hurt Obama."

I’m not exactly sure whether the Obama years will be, on the whole, better or worse for me, personally. On one hand, the U.S.A. will be massively better off, which, I imagine, should "trickle down" to my level (pardon the metaphor). On the other hand, I very well may have a higher chance to get killed by some violent racist wingnut who believes that Obama is the Antichrist and stole the election. Thoughts?

An internal investigation by the popular online market Intrade has revealed that an investor’s purchases prompted “unusual” price swings that boosted the prediction that Sen. John McCain will become president.

Over the past several weeks, the investor has pushed hundreds of thousands of dollars into one of Intrade’s predictive markets for the presidential election, the company said.

You mean this one, I presume. Yah, it may be my new fav LOLbama.

    Indeedy do, I do.

Tho’ "Chill The Fuck Out" is always relevant.

Now see, that was my old favorite! I dared to post it as a photo in a comment thread on debate night #2, fearing the ridicule of all the photo-in-comment-thread-haters on this site, but lo and behold, John snagged it and put it on the main page! (I probably ripped it off from you? I found it via some link here.)
I may have to make a frame big enough to hold both, now that you mention it.

There is no ripping off on the internets. There is only win or fail.

    @Eric U.:

It is what it is, and what it is, is a pretty straightforward application of current standing doctrine. You can argue that the recent decisions on standing are fucked up, and I might well agree with you, but if you are advocating for a double standard you have a bit of a problem explaining why it’s appropriate.

. . . a pretty straightforward application of current standing doctrine.

Whew. Now there’s a contradiction in terms, imho. What, pray tell, is "straightforward" about current standing docrine!? It’s like quantum frickin’ mechanics: you never know until the SCOTUS box opens up, and tells you if the cat’s dead or not.

SGEW : "I was just being snide about their (very very thinly) veiled Fear Of a Black Planet"

cool public enemy reference… however, the real fear is The Fear Of A Black PENIS…..
