Hillary is breaking barriers alright, with yet another victory for feminism:
Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.
“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it,” she said, dismissing calls to drop out.
Sociopath. What else can you really say?
*** Update ***
Yep, I watched the video (link here to the POS video player) and she said it, while claiming she was a victim because all the mean people are trying to push her out of the race she can’t win. Video here, probably about 20 mins in and after the energy talk.
Pretty amazing. Hillary is now claiming that she is partially justified staying in the race because let’s face it- someone might kill Obama.
Stay classy, Hillary.

*** Update #2 ***
The Rude Pundit, discussing Clinton’s RFK gaffe:
To Clinton’s campaign and its supporters, who have been holding out for some gaffe by Obama that would take him down: How’s that working out for ya?
Yeah, really. They have been waiting for something big to happen to change this race. Merry Christmas.
dr. bloor
Sociopath with a heroin addiction?
Krista
Wow. Please, please tell me that she’s not actually stooping so low as to say that she still has a chance because Obama might be fucking assassinated!
Please tell me that’s not what she’s saying.
Is there any charitable way to interpret that sentence, ’cause if there is, I’d love to hear it.
SnarkyShark
Loosely translated-
Since there’s a better than average chance that one of my “hardworking” supporters might off the uppity Negro, why shouldn’t I stay in?
Convention bitches!
Dean needs to kick her ass right now. Howie is letting me down at this point.
dr. bloor
Just to add, I hope and fully expect Teddy will rip her a new one for bringing Bobby’s assassination into this. She’s fucking disgusting.
mapaghimagsik
Don’t bag on feminism for this John. This is completely beyond the pale, coming from a man or a woman.
Its also completely bogus. What, if the Clinton campaign goes into remission, Mark Penn will suddenly be unavailable to get his millions from working class donors if the unthinkable happened?
flavortext
It’s hard to come up with a metaphor. She’s not just digging her own grave, she’s got an auger on full power and a cement mixer on standby for when she jumps down in August.
Krista
I was just thinking the same thing – like the Kennedy clan isn’t dealing with enough right now, she had to reopen that old wound.
That is beyond shameless.
Billy K
Seconded.
mapaghimagsik
Oh, and I’d like to thank the Clinton campaign for treating feminism like identity politics when it should be about equal rights.
4tehlulz
There’s gotta be a tape somewhere, because even I am having a hard time believing she would say something that fucked up.
It is, after all, the fucking New York Post.
Adam
Huh?
What in the world is she talking about? That doesn’t make any fucking sense.
Adam
There’s a video on the page.
John Cole
There is a video at the link. I am watching it now. Currently she is talking about energy.
Adam
I started watching it and couldn’t take it. I actually care about the telecom issues she’s touching on a lot (volunteer legal work), but it’s skipping like crazy and the last thing I want right now is to listen to a broken record of Hillary Clinton.
4tehlulz
I need to RTFA a little better……
Ted
Speechless.

Hillary Clinton is a complete disgrace. I don’t understand how her supporters can continue to enable her. I just don’t get it.

She’s gotta be trying just to run out the clock and get to convention because the RFK line is bogus.
She could drop out now and stop saying stoopid stuff and still be the one the Dems turned in the tragic and unfortunate event that a nominee had to be picked at convention.
However if she drops out now she won’t be able to steal the deal in Denver. It’d be an admission of defeat and the Party would move on without her.
She can’t admit defeat yet. So she’s still angling to get to the smoke filled room in Denver without saying she’s angling for the smoke filled room.
So expect her to say more stoopid stuff.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr supports Clinton.
Well, he did before this.

That’s beyond a new low, she’s tunneling for China with that comment
Z
She almost makes me a ashamed to be a woman. I find myself wanting to remind people that Hillary doesn’t speak for women. That future female presidential candidates won’t be that dishonest and shameless. She is like the Manchurian feminist.
El Cid
It’s also kind of sad. She is simultaneously saying “I’ve got to keep going” and “Well, hell, the only way I can be the nominee is if the other guy dies,”.
That’s a pretty clear admission of “losing”.
Dennis - SGMM
She has officially crossed the George W. Bush line with that one.
Zifnab
All together now, kids.

CLASSY!

Just yesterday, I wrote that I wasn’t surprised by Hillary’s statements because mendacity’s been a hallmark of her career. I take it all back, because this left me absolutely speechless. Doesn’t someone on her staff owe it to her to tell her how much she’s hurting herself right now? Would it be too much to step back, get some sleep, to JUST STOP TALKING? This is fucking insane.
Mary
I’m watching it. She didn’t even get an “Oh shit!” look on her face after she said it. The interviewer let it pass without comment either, although his face wasn’t visible onscreen.
Paul
I fear that Sen. Obama will be strongarmed into taking Sen. Clinton as his VP choice.
And so our chances in November will suffer greatly as a result. And even if the “dream ticket” wins, you couldn’t pay me enough to work in a Obama/Clinton WH.
Rick Taylor
What is she saying here? Is there someone who knows a little recent history who can put this in context?
She does have a propensity for saying outrageous things when under pressure, like when asked how she could win, she said out of the blue everything was fluid and even the pledged delegates might change their votes.
I remember thinking when she made the hard working white voter comment she needed to get out as much as for her own sake as everyone else’s.
El Doh
The Kennedy comment is disgusting.
The first half, however, is nonsensical too. Bill won in June, in California — which has more delegates than any other state. Fast forward to 2008, we have a very different primary calendar. California’s already gone, this time around. She won it Super Tuesday (and according to SUSA, wouldn’t win it now).
So, it’s not about a hope of winning via delegates.
Seriously, does she think this is fooling anyone?
jake
Roger that O, Crazy Pantsuited One.
WTF is she talking about? This doesn’t have anything to do with:
1. Feminism.
2. Bill Clinton.
3. Robert Kennedy.
4. California.
5. June.
6. Politics.
7. Reality.
I’d even argue that talking about her husband’s campaign and trying to draw some link to her own campaign is [ahem] sexist.

This Kennedy wanking is pretty fucking strange – did she really say this?

To be fair I also don’t think it has anything to do with Obama or the chances of his being assasinated.
I think she’s gone hurtling over the sanity horizon or downed too many boilermakers. Something is very wrong.

Looking at the earlier part, she’s basically saying the DNC committee didn’t do their job right, Florida should have won it’s appeal. They should have pressed her on why she vetoed the Michigan compromise that the state the and the Obama campaign supported.

I think she meant that the primaries historically ran through June, so why the fuss to drop out now.
But bringing up RFK’s assasination to make the point is beyond tacky.
Jeff
John-
Have we broken a record yet for how many times we’ve said that we’ve hit a “new low” in this campaign? If this were a drinking game, I think we’d be in the hospital getting our stomachs pumped by now. I suppose that’s an appropriate metaphor now.
Dreggas
It was on the GOS I first saw this. It’s top of the reclist there.
Mike B.
Just to pass along the kindest rationale possible for the statement, as offered at some other Web sites: RFK’s assassination was simply a kind of shorthand for noting that the nomination process was still going on as of June 1968.
That’s some shorthand. Pitman and Gregg were amateurs.
EdTheRed
Odds of a Special Comment from Olberman tonight? Off the board.
Dennis - SGMM
You nailed it. There have been unsubstantiated rumors that the Clinton campaign approached Obama with the proposal that she would withdraw if offered the VP slot. Obama gave them a polite “No.”
She and Bill have lost their last chance at national prominence. That has driven the both of them insane.
John Cole
She is justifying staying in the race because Obama might get assassinated. It is beyond tacky. It is obscene.
Adam
Hey, maybe she could have said, “the primaries historically run through June, so why the fuss to drop out now?” That would have been, you know, not repellent.
zzyzx
Damn, I guess you’ll be getting the gift card now.
MBunge
A lot of folks have made a big deal about Hillary’s (and Bill’s) toughness and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. But being as relentlessly and mindlessly determined as the Clintons it is almost always accompanied by other less admirable qualities, such as a total lack of self-awareness, which is what I think accounts for the majority of the stupid and outrageous things Hillary has said and done. If you can’t ever look in the mirror, you can’t ever know how ugly you’ve become.
Mike
Jeff
You know, it just occurred to me… Maybe this is Hillary’s way of getting out of the race and getting everyone to unite behind Barack Obama. You know, basically say the most ridiculous and stupid things until everyone (including a lot of people supporting her) just hates her and can’t wait for her to exit. Unification in hatred of Hillary…
Wishful thinking, I know… Somehow Clinton supporters will think that, actually, she’s making a really great point!
Mary
John, could you please change the embed to a link? That abomination of a video player keeps autoplaying when this page is reloaded.
(What a piece of crap player from that site. Really. You can pause, but can’t rewind, fast forward or stop. When you reload, it doesn’t start fresh but starts at the point where you left off.)
Keith
While John (et al.) figured Huckabee would apologize for his snafu (and he did, 5 hours later), does anyone here think HRC will do so? I can’t imagine that happening. I really can’t. She’s so deluded with her own strength and righteousness that she will rationalize what she said to the point of reality appearing like a twisted up rubberband.
hacienda
Yes, but this is Hillary “Zimbabwe” Clinton we’re talking about here. Is anybody surprised?
rob!
Susan Rice is on MSNBC now, and she refused to say anything other than “we hope Clinton has been misunderstood” and left it at that.
good for her, Hillary will get knocked around enough for this the next few days; this way the Obama campaign can’t be blamed for fanning the flames.
jesus h. christ, do i hate the clintons.
Dennis - SGMM
She’s doing us a favor. She wants us to be able to have four more years of George W. Bush without having to vote for McCain.
clone12
I don’t mind her staying in. But I’m not sure she’s helping herself.
How about a simple “let the process work itself out” instead?
Maggie
I agree that she only meant to say that some races have gone on until June.
But that she used the RFK assassination to illustrate her point indicates that the thought has definitely crossed her mind. (Same could be said for Huckabee’s off-the-cuff joke at the NRA.) I don’t read either remark as intentionally nefarious in any way. But both remarks are revelatory of things that are being thought… and who hasn’t thought about the risks Obama is taking by running for President?
Much as I despise the woman, I’d rather this didn’t become a big deal. We all think thoughts that ought not to be spooken aloud; and nobody perfectly censors themselves. We need to cut each other some slack. (Though Clinton didn’t show the same courtesy to Obama when the ‘bitter’ remarks surfaced).
Shygetz
Maybe she’s going to tie this into her argument to be VP.
“Well, look what happened to our last young Democratic president who had mass appeal among new voters. If it can happen to JFK, then don’t the voters deserve to have their second choice waiting in the wings in case President Obama gets assassinated?”
You heard it here first; the JFK comparison is waiting in the wings. I was wrong about Hillary–she would not be an acceptable nominee for President. Not in 2008, not in 2012, not in 2016.
EdTheRed
You know what? I actually *am* surprised. What she just said actually scares me.
I guess nothing else she says will surprise me…then again, that’s what I was thinking after the Zimbabwe thing…
Rick Taylor
I’m not convinced; it doesn’t make any sense. Foot in mouth disease seems more likely to me. It doesn’t matter though; her remarks about hard working white people convinced me she should drop out a while ago, and those remarks were coordinated with the message of her campaign.
This together with Hucakbee’s joke just a few days ago does make me feel uneasy though.
SnarkyShark
Yep. Reap what you sow. If she had showed any grace in all this, I might be inclined to forgive.
Not this time. She just stepped in it big time. She’s toast.
Just Some Fuckhead
It’s not worth listening to 20 minutes of her boring monotone for 20 seconds of outrage. I’m just going to have to have my outrage thirdhand this time.
In fairness to The Queen Of the Damned Campaign, surely she was just pointing out that, historically, campaigns have gone into June and beyond. No blood, no foul.
Big E
maybe Michael Savage has taken control of her
Dreggas
What is even worse about this reference is that RFK was the presumptive nominee when he was assassinated. He was in nearly the same position as Obama.
Rick Taylor
I’d really recommend thinking twice about running with this (though it may be too late). It could be foot-in-mouth-disease, Hillary supporters will certainly see it that way, and they’ll use it as a to argue progressive blogs are full of CDS, and they’ll ignore the substantive reasons people are upset (which they might do anyway, but why offer them an easy way to do it).
That Argus thing doesn’t play well on my computer. Here’s a youtube link.
Brachiator
WTF?
WTF?
WTF?
Given that Ted Kennedy is currently in the news, and also that we are nearing the month of RFK’s assassination, you really have to wonder what is going through Senator Clinton’s mind that she would throw something like this out there. Of course, I look forward to all of the standard “Who me?” coy denials from Team Clinton, along with Opposite Day accusations that it is now the Obama campaign which is obviously trying to gin up some sympathy by playing the Death Card.
I can’t recall a time in recent political memory in which a mainstream candidate has spouted such an increasingly unhinged series of inappropriate or downright ugly metaphoric statements as has Senator Clinton.
The only way that she could top this madness is if she shows up at a press conference with a crown of thorns on her head, a cross and some nails, claiming that the mainstream media is trying to crucify her.
Yeah, despite all the coy denials, the push is on big time for Hillary to be forced on Obama as his VP choice (GROUNDSWELL OF CALLS FOR O-HILL UNION):
The big problem, as a number of pundits have noted, is that while a lot of Democrats, and many women, absolutely love them some Hillary, a lot of the larger population detests her. And the insiders are seriously misreading the increasingly rising levels of disgust over Senator Clinton’s machinations over the last months of the primary campaign.
Some of the smarter pundits are noting that we not only have to fear what havoc Hillary might wreak as VP (along with co-VP Bill), but we also have to be concerned that the Clintons may seek to get Obama to place Clinton loyalists into Executive Branch positions.
I really think that Obama should resist the advice of party leaders and Beltway pundits that Clinton should be offered either the VP slot or be considered a candidate for the Supreme Court. With the probable, sad, and unexpected departure of Ted Kennedy from the Senate, and the likelihood that a number of veterans such as Byrd, among others, may either retire or pass away, there is a chance that Senator Clinton could become a major player in the Senate. Something like this, along with the offer of some bigtime diplomatic cookie to Bill Clinton, might be sufficient to move the Clintons to the sidelines.
El Doh
That’s my take too. She lacks eloquence when speaking off the cuff.
Still, at least she doesn’t constantly refer to her audience as “my friends”. That drives me up the wall.
PeakVT
Amen. I don’t want the DNC to choose one candidate over another, but I really do wish it could referee fights like this better.
Unfortunately, the power to do so may not be in its grasp.

God bless YouTube.
South of I-10
I thought that long term exposure to Louisiana politics had left me immune to finding anything involving politics shocking. But Hillary managed to do it. Wow.
Jon H
She meant to say that even hard working Americans, white Americans, like Robert F. Kennedy, campaigned in June when they got shot down like dogs.
I think?
More seriously, i agree that she was probably intending to just mention a campaign that went into June, and RFK’s was a memorable one that came to mind and people would remember.
But it was really tin-eared, and Freudians will have a field day.
But hey, she’s tested. We knew she had a tendency to say crazy shit like this and the ‘white American’s thing. Right? Right?
SamFromUtah
Have we broken a record yet for how many times we’ve said that we’ve hit a “new low” in this campaign?
Hey! John should post a picture of a pony every time the Clinton campaign or herself reaches a new low. I hear Atrios has a good stock of pony pictures.
Personally, I think this Clintonism was a dumb slip of the tongue, but, well, what SnarkyShark said.
Dr. Squid
Actually it’s getting Sadlybombed.

“Nice candidate you got there. Sure would be a shame if anything happened to him.”

This is pure classic Clinton. Say something outrageous to stay in the media limelight and provoke an overreaction from their opponents (e.g. I’ve already seen some comments elsewhere bringing up Vince Foster). Then play the victim and rally the faithful to the “poor, besieged, misunderstood, all too human Clintons.” Ignore her. She’s full of shit and it doesn’t matter. The nomination is a lead pipe cinch for Obama. Let her hang herself, she needs no help from us at this point.
Mary
CNN is reporting that she apologized this afternoon: no video yet. She said that she was just trying to draw some historical comparisons to the race continuing into June, and because of the recent bad news for Ted Kennedy, the Kennedy tragedy was on her mind.
The pundits say that this may mean Obama may feel less public pressure to pick her for VP. No shit.
El Cid
Well, hey, Thom Hartmann did suggest on his program to day that selecting Hillary as VP would be like having LBJ join JFK’s ticket.
Maybe she just mixed up JFK and RFK.

Why does the corpse of Robert Kennedy hate women so much?

I’ve been saying someone was going to take a shot at Obama if he was the nominee for at least a year, but I always assumed we could assume it was a racist GOPer.
You don’t think some Clinton dead-enders aren’t sitting this very second going, hmmm?
gypsy howell
Well, we still ended up with Nixon, either way.
Jen
Well, look at it this way: at least she didn’t say, “Obama could be diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor like Ted Kennedy any day now, and that would be really sad and all, but I’d be there! I mean, God forbid and all that.”
I think it was more of a dumb thing to say than anything else, and AP says she’s already apologized. I mean, who wants to consciously compare their opponent to RFK and themselves to Hubert Humphrey?
merrinc
Yep, it was a gaffe and a huge one at that. Bigger even than Bittergate.
So pardon me while I shed no tears. Sauce, goose, gander and all that.

Sadlyno is not crashing the site.
It is a residual DKOS link and andrew sullivan, and it appears to have cleared up.

I strongly dislike Hillary, but I don’t think she meant it to sound that way. I think this was just foot in mouth disease.
Course, if this ends up scandalizing her even more and causing her to leave the race, I’m cheering in the aisles, but I just don’t think it’s what she meant.
Mary
Her clarification/apology on YouTube.
Crusty Dem
I’m a bit baffled at what she’s trying to get at here, but I’m actually willing to give her the benefit of the doubt (going against everyone here). She demonstrates absolutely no hesitancy after saying “we all remember that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California”, and it comes right after she talks about her husband winning the nomination by winning California in June. I don’t think (watching the video) that she has any clue she’s just said something horribly offensive.
I think she’s just got it stuck in her head, while answering the question, that people have campaigned in June before by remembering that her husband did, and Bobby Kennedy did (because that’s when he was shot). But what I find troubling is that there’s no logic to what she’s trying to say, which is “June’s not so bad, other campaigns went to June and nobody lost their mind”. But, as she is pointing out, there used to be major primaries in June. Not anymore. We want her out because A)She’s causing problems and B)The race is fucking OVER!!
oh really
I apologize for not having the time to read all the other comments to see if this observation has been made before, but…
Clinton’s reasoning is flawed. If someone kills Obama, Clinton won’t get the nomination — she’ll be standing trial.
And all this time I thought she was just waiting for the Swiftboat to arrive and destroy Obama. Now, I realize she’s more or less soliciting murder. And lately I’ve begun to if maybe some of Clinton’s supporters just might be crazy enough.
Yeah, she’s fit to be president…the same way Bush is fit to be president, i.e., both can fit inside the White House.
nightjar
Hardball just played the clip. She apologized to the Kennedy family, but a word about Obama. (unless she did later On)
El Doh
As long as there’s a Clinton attracting attention somewhere, Vince Foster will never rest in peace.
John Cole
Of course it was foot in mouth disease.
But what could it possibly mean other than “I am staying in the race because anything could happen, like Obama getting shot just like RFK.”
Mary
Damn. Here’s the YouTube link again.
ksmiami
NOt much of an apology. I hope this sinks her entire political career… What a FKNCNTSHOL

WTF… and when she apologizes it for it she mentions that she holds Kennedy’s Senate seat and how much she likes Kennedy’s family… NO MENTION OF OBAMA WHATSOEVER.

What was the that film with Ellen Degeneres and Bill Pullman where he was a trust fund adult? When they start dating she tells him ‘just be yourself’. He treats it like something he never heard and starts acting like a complete asshole, throwing beer cans at people and shoplifting.
That’s Clinton – the more we’ve gotten to know her, the more we asked her to just be herself, the more she showed that she was a self-pitying, manipulative monster. That’s her.
Crusty Dem
Wow. Just watched the “apology”. I’d just like to retract giving her the benefit of the doubt. Let’s just attribute it to 6 minutes of temporary insanity.

** I meant to point out that I find it messed up that she took time to point out that she now holds the position of the guy she was talking about being assassinated. Isn’t that kind of the implication you should be trying to avoid in tthe first place?
Doug H. (Fausto no more)
I’m still in awe that someone gearing up to contest the convention is talking about 1968.
Or maybe I shouldn’t be. “Awful nice convention you have there, a shame if someone came and ruined it…”
gypsy howell
I can’t help myself. I had to go look. They moved quickly past the RFK gaffe (pointing out along the way that Obama supporters are sexist and violent. )and have moved onto claiming that Obama supports reparations.
Rick Taylor
No, actually, it was Hubert Humphrey. And I don’t think Hillary supported the assassination in any way shape or form. Come on people, get a grip. That tag, “I can no longer rationally discuss the Clinton campaign,” is looking more and more appropriate.
They’ll deflect it by concentrating on the over-reaction from Obama blogs. The best thing to do is to be patient and understanding; just sit back and let the remarks have their effect.
Mary
Yeah. I hope that someone at CNN just failed to include her whole statement, because that’s pretty weak tea.
El Doh
PK
This woman seems to be losing it completely! If something did happen to Obama she would still be the alternate as she is in second place. Leaving the race does not mean that she can no longer be considered. I mean who are the democrats going to go for-Kucinich.
The only reasons I can think of for mentioning RFK is 1) an honest gaffe 2)A not so subtle hint to some of her more crazed supporters.
I will still opt for #1. But with the Clintons # 2 does not seem as preposterous as it would have a few months ago.
Zifnab
I’ve been told that she’s really not such a bad person when she’s winning.
Seriously, is this the shit that drove the Republican Party off the deep end in the ’90s? Did the Clintons put something in the DC tap water or what? I never understood spending $4 million dollars to nail a guy for his Christmas Card list, but if this is the standard bullshit Clintons throw at their political opponents… I almost think I understand.
It’s like staring into the eye of the abyss with these people. GOP, Clinton, its all the same. I’m giving Obama saint-points right now just because he hasn’t been dragged down to their level.
PeterJ
The insane shits over at NoQuarter:

Will she seek counseling? Maybe some sensitivity training?
Adam
Wait, I’ll try that again:
First: “Sure would be a pity if anything happened to Senator Obama like it did to Robert Kennedy. Then I’d have to take his position.”
Later: “I didn’t mean to offend the Kennedys. In fact, I proudly hold the position that belonged to Robert Kennedy before he was assassinated.”
El Doh
The only other alternative I can think of is Edwards, but I can’t see him beating Hillary (ooh! Sexism!) at the convention.
kwAwk
clone12 Says:
The whole ‘let the process work itself out’ thing has been said over and over again, but she is still getting slammed over and over again to ‘GET OUT NOW!!!’
The Obots on the blogs and in the media are scared of something though I’m not really sure what it is. Its almost as if they aren’t convinced that Obama is as good of a candidate as they portray him to be. Like he’ll say something else stupid like the whole ‘bitter’ thing or the ‘I’ll meet with anybody’ thing.
Could be they are afraid of the Michelle Obama vs Whitey video surfacing before the convention, and if Hillary is still in it the nomination could swing her way.
What else could explain all of this spazzing out?
I swear, if Obama leads in the polls in October by 5 or 10 points are we going to have to hear a months worth of whining about how McCain should just drop out?
Jiminy Jilliker
There’s a “clarification” posted at TPM, but it’s really just a “I didn’t mean offense” statement.
I suspect that what she’ll say when she gets to it is that she was only trying to illustrate that back in ’68, the California primary-which we all remember because of RFK-was in June, so what’s the rush?
The responses to that are 1) that comparisons between the process then and now are apples and tow trucks and 2) how well did ’68 work out for them dems, again? I always forget…

You’ve got it. I feel like I’m shouting into a gale here, but to reiterate, *this fits the Clinton’s modus operendi to a tee.* Namely, they’ll say something outrageous, provoke an overreaction from their opponents, then walk it back and play the victim card. You’d think people would figure it out by now.
PeterJ
And too many of the commenters over at TalkInsaneLeft have decided that she talked about herself and since she was winning she might be shot.
I guess they can reuse that to explain her fucked up apology too.
Ted
I truly do feel sorry for her now. I can’t help it.

She is one scary monster! (rehire the woman who saw the Hildabeast in a true light – she must have had the “They Live!” glasses on).

I will hand it to Hillary, though, she chose the best conceivable time to lose her mind. We’ll see if this outlasts the memorial day weekend..

Yeah, wow, those were way, way worse than talking about your opponent getting assassinated, or “beat the bitch,” or “gooks,” or “bomb bomb iran.” Obama is a GAFFE MACHINE
Or maybe you should just STFU.

I’m with Bey. I have to swallow my pride and call my Republican brother and tell him he was right all along. The Clintons are scum bag sociopaths.
I will now donate money to whatever right wing fascist or 23 year old pimply faced College Republican who runs against her in her next Senate election.
This fucking bitch should absolutely NEVER win an election again!
PS: My brother is 52 and has never voted for a Democrat. Thanks to George W. he plans to vote for Obama and is seriously considering becoming an “independent”. Thank you Bush for making my brother see the light.

Truly disturbing. In the name of everything decent, make her go away.

It’s called ‘John McCain, 44th President of the United States.’ But you already knew that, spoof.

kwAwk:
The fear is that Clinton herself is doing the damage by whipping her supporters into an irremediable sulk over non-issues and faux-slights.
Also, the process has worked itself out. At least mathematically. If she would just keep the crazy, damaging crap out of her approach, I think most calls for her to get out would end at least until after the last primary.
Also, she can “suspend” her campaign. There’s no rule that she can’t step in after she’s dropped out if whatever Obama catastrophe you fantasize about happens. Hell, the delegates could pick someone who didn’t even run.
And lastly, in October, there would be at most 1 month of the campaign left, so it would be truly strange indeed for there to be several months worth of calls for McCain to drop out.
ThymeZone
You might, but probably from Republicans.
Doug H. (Fausto no more)
Can we get a better grade of spoof? I mean, the Clinton campaign just torpedoed itself, maybe now we can get some McCain spoofs with pre-printed talking points?

I’m kind of unhappy about sowing discord in the party and stupid things like what she just said, but I don’t hate her. If you’d been paying any attention you’d see that I frequently defend her as being in a tough spot. It doesn’t change the fact that what she said was offensive and politically tonedeaf, and that her apology wasn’t much better.
The only people I “hate” are the little trolls who feel the need to derail conversations by visiting everyone’s intentions. I don’t need to “hate” your candidate to think you’re a fucking moron. Your candidate actually deserves better.
oh really
My first response:
Hillary’s reasoning is flawed. If someone kills Obama, she won’t get the nomination — she’ll be standing trial.
Second response:
She is deeper in denial that anyone has ever been before. She simply can’t believe she isn’t going to win. Something is going to save her. I always thought she was just waiting for the Swiftboat to come in and destroy Obama. Now, I realize it’s worse than that.
Her denial has actually made her come unhinged. She’s so tired and so desperate she has no idea what she’s saying.
A few more weeks of this and she’ll be saying things like, “Well, if my opponent would just kill himself, we could get this over,” or “Gee, there must be someone out there who wants me to win badly enough and who is sufficiently outraged at the way I’ve been treated to, well, you know, terminate Barack with extreme prejudice.”
nightjar
Being insane and a democrat with a microphone, she might not be considered a positive for the party. That’s all kwak.
ThymeZone
I think she truly is deranged. She has become a pathetic figure at this point.
Wilfred
Don’t generalize. Personally I hope she stays in until the last possible moment, throwing the rest of her and Bill’s money away, along with anything else she can glom off the remaining Clintonjügend. Then I hope to see the complete and irreversible public face-melt on live television, followed by a stay in Austin Riggs and ultimate long-term rehabilitation as Chelsea’s Geraldine Ferraro.
Maybe some kid will come up and say “Didn’t you use to be Hillary Clinton? My dad sold his bike for you once.”
Justin
Jesus Christ, you all (from John on down the line) are flying off the hook over nothing. How often has the blogosphere discussed the fact that a Secret Service contingent was assigned to Obama very early on in the campaign due to threats? Why is Hillary being held to a different standard? The hypocrisy and hyperventilation of Obama-bloggers is embarrassing. Every day there is some new issue (this time from the New York Post, a tabloid publication, kind of like what NBC/MSNBC is becoming more & more) that is interpreted to fit your pre-conceived narrative of Hillary as a power-mad bitch who will do anything & say anything and that it’s all just for her own personal glorification.
Listen, I was an early Obama supporter, and when I snapped out of it & woke up, it was disturbing to compare the impossibly high standard I was holding Hillary to, compared to the lengths I went to to defend or explain things for Obama. If you would listen to what Hillary actually says, not rumor and speculation, and then compare it to what she does, I think you’d be surprised.
She has consistently said that this nomination is not over, and that this is a close race, which it is, and that she’s going to continue to keep making her case, at least until all the votes have been counted and to the convention if necessary. There is no “what does Hillary want?” — she has made clear what the stakes are in this election, the changes she wants to fight for, why she believes she’s the better candidate, and why people need to take a second look at Obama’s resume & record of saying one thing to one group, and another somewhere else, and ask themselves which candidate will really fight for them.
Neither candidate is going to reach the number 2210 (MI and FL have to be counted, sorry) without “super” delegates. And as has been amply demonstrated, with Obama winning more delegates even in states where Hillary won the state overall, that so-called ‘pledged’ delegates are not a good indicator of support, and at least are not the only measure of who our nominee should be. Why the rush to force Hillary out? And why do Obama supporters seem to think it would be a good thing for the press to decide who our nominee is by declaring it ‘over’?
There, I’ve said my piece. Let the flaming begin, I’m sure.

Politico:
“The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Sen. Kennedy and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family, was in any way offensive,” she said.
…
“Earlier today I was discussing the Democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June 1992 and 1968 and I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination primary contests that go into June. That’s a historic fact. The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy and I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive. I certainly had no intention of that, whatsoever. My view is that we have to look to the past and to our leaders who have inspired us and give us a lot to live up to, and I’m honored to hold Senator Kennedy’s seat in the United States Senate from the state of New York and have the highest regard for the entire Kennedy family.”

I listened to the whole thing, and it is clear that she is answering the question of ‘why she should stay in the race’. She started out fine in her explanation, but when she mentioned the RFK assassination it was clear what she meant:
‘RFK was assassinated in June, and I am staying in because something like that could happen to Barack Obama‘
She went completely off point if her point was that the contests historically ran through June. She conflated the two points, but the fact that she did so tells me that this is something that is in her mind as justification to stay in the race.
I think Hillary just gave Obama the perfect reason NOT to have her on the ticket as VP.
I would say that this is a new low, but I have a feeling that she would be more than happy to prove us wrong. I hope the supers are sick of this shit and move to end it soon.
Oh, Keith Olbermann will have a ‘Special Comment’ tonight.

Next up: Hillary claims that her campaign was assassinated by shots from the Texas Book Depository of Misogyny.
Justin
I could make the same statement about Senator Obama! Why can’t you see that? And why is it Hillary’s fault that Obama and his supporters want to make sure FL and MI “don’t count”? Is Obama willing to win having ran out the clock and “clinched” the nomination, then “count” MI and FL by having them cheer him at the convention? I remember having a discussion on here a while back and saying, in essence, that since the race is so close you can’t count the votes while at the same time making them not matter. Do you not see the evil in trying to make sure those elections are irrelevant, and then accusing your opponent of “doing anything to win” because she has the audacity to point this out?
If you don’t object to Hillary staying in this, then SHUT THE HELL UP about it. This isn’t a “new low” for anyone but the Obama shills in the blogosphere. What are you saying, that Hillary wants Obama to be assassinated? Jesus fucking Christ, what has gotten into your minds? Seriously!
El Cid
And I supposed Bush Jr. wasn’t referring to Obama in particular and to Democrats in general when he spoke of the “appeasers” in Israel’s Knesset speech? He was just generally mentioning “appeasers” ’cause he doesn’t like “appeasers”? Even though McCain immediately made the correct link and endorsed the argument’s use against Obama?
PeterJ
And since Clinton sure isn’t slowing down, it would be a lot better to jettison her now. That still gives Obama five months to mend things, which is a lot better than the two months he would have if Clinton is allowed to drag this all the way to the convention.
I’m guessing you’re a lost cause though.

E-zactly. She and her campaign and her supporters made a lot of hay out of Bittergate. But Obama, his campaign and his supporters are just supposed to say, “Oh well, you were just tired and misspoke. Bygones.”
Here’s a quote:
You know who said that? Big Tent Democrat. This is someone who would probably try to defend Hillary if she was caught sodomizing a blind kitten with a curling iron. So this is definitely not a faux-outrage ginned up by Obama supporters. At the absolute BEST, it was tacky and in poor taste. At the worst, it was abhorrent and disgusting.
Dennis - SGMM
Uh, Justin, why did Clinton reject the Michigan Democratic party’s own compromise plan for seating its delegates? Clinton, and members of her own campaign, signed off on the fact that Florida and Michigan would not be seated if they broke ranks on the primary schedule. That was okay when Clinton was positive of a coronation, not okay now that she’s behind and scratching for advantage. If Clinton can’t live up to an agreement that she signed in good faith then how can we expect her to live up to her campaign promises or anything else?
Rick Taylor
If it was Obama who was behind Hillary Clinton by roughly 150 pledged delegates, if it was Obama that was arguing the votes should be counted and delegates awarded as is in a contest the candidates had agreed not to participate in, in which Hillary was not even on the ballot, if it was Obama suggesting that the nominee might not be viewed as being legitimate if the results weren’t counted exactly the way he wanted them, if it was Obama’s campaign declaring on the basis of the uncontested primary and discounting caucus states that he was winning the popular vote and ought to be the nominee, if it was Obama that suggested the super delegates ought to over-ride the pledged delegate count because he only he could appeal to the working class black vote, one Democrats have always depended upon, if it was Obama that was suggesting he would take this to a convention fight if the DNC didn’t rule the way he wanted, if it was Obama who compared this election to Florida 2000 and Zimbabwe, and if it was people in Obama’s campaign that were suggesting anything less than an offer of the VP slot would result in civil war, then hell yes, I’d be screaming at him. I supported Hillary early on in the campaign, and I still like her better on economic issues, it’s only as the campaign’s evolved I’ve come to this point.
zoe from pittsburgh
Can we really stop calling her a bitch, please? It only serves to support her claim that she’s a victim of wisespread sexism or that all of Obama’s supporters are sexist men. Bitch isn’t always a sexist term, however, in this context it really does sound like it. So knock it off, please.
Call her crazy if you’d like (although without any ridiculous PMS references) or unhinged or a sociopath but try a little harder to avoid sexist-tinged stereotypes, please?

Just went to Talkleft. Just so you all know, your reaction to her comments is disgusting and filled with hate.
How’s that get ya?

At this point, I’m not sure that anyone can plumb the depths of Hillary’s distorted sense of history. But a few tidbits from the 1968 presidential campaign, with a few little ironies, courtesy of Wikipedia (United States presidential election, 1968).
Only 13 states held primaries in 1968.
Eugene McCarthy won the total popular vote in all of the primaries, with 2,914,933 total votes (38%). But golly gee, Hillary, the will of the people were ignored as far as total votes went.
Hubert Humphrey, LBJ’s vice-president, barely campaigned in the primaries, but ultimately won the delegate battle at the Democratic Convention, fighting off a number of challenges from anti-war Democrats. Humphrey, by the way, led in the number of pledged delegates at the time of the California primary.
McCarthy, by the way, had lost the California primary to Robert Kennedy, and tried to fight for the nomination at the Chicago convention.
In short, in 1968, the power brokers made sure that Humphrey got the nomination and fought off all challengers. So, Hillary’s reference to 1968 is pretty meaningless, apart from the possible idea that she is associating herself with losing challengers.
Hillary should step aside because she has lost. She can only win the nomination by ignoring the party rules which she previously endorsed, or by making up numbers which have nothing to do with reality.
By the way, Senator Clinton’s people are saying that she should be given all the Michigan delegates, and Obama none, because “Uncommitted” and not Obama’s name was on the ballot.
Officially, Clinton got 55% of the vote in Michigan. However, if you look at the exit polls, which is the best available indicator of voter intent, then you get the following results:
Clinton, 46%
Obama, 35%
Edwards, 12%
Exit polling also indicates that Obama may have been the choice of up to 79% of a combination of Clinton and uncommitted voters (CNN primary exit polls).
In short, Hillary should bow out because she is trying to steal an election and disenfranchise Obama voters. Cheaters and frauds should be penalized, not rewarded with a nomination to run for the office of president of the United States.
KRK
Now that I would actually enjoy.
I hope it’s on video come the day.
Adam
Actually, I disagree. I object to the fact that she hasn’t quit yet. There’s been no mathematical way for her to win since Texas and it’s just classless.
If you made that argument, I’d reply that Obama won and Clinton lost and that’s the metric we use for primaries, not who a candidate’s supporters think is more ‘divisive’ or ‘electable,’ you twit. (I’m not going to take issue with your assertion that Obama’s been excessively divisive despite that it’s nonsense — for the sake of argument, OK, they’ve been equally divisive.) The problem isn’t that she’s divisive, it’s that she’s needlessly divisive.
There’s been no mathematical way for Hillary to win the nomination since Texas and yet she still sticks around out of some bizarre sense of entitlement (I guess) and talks about how historically nominations should go ’til the Convention. She even undermined her entire argument for remaining today by admitting that she doesn’t even need to campaign, simply stick around. She could be doing exactly that without making comparisons to MLK or Zimbabwe every day.
And the reply to that is no, Hillary, historically candidates have the grace to drop out when they can’t win in the interests of the Party they’re purporting to fight for. I supported Edwards in ’04, but if he’d hung around until June talking about how John Kerry can’t win and musing about “well, what happens if he’s assassinated?” I’d be first in line to tell him please John, shut up, for the love of God. I certainly wouldn’t be accusing Kerry supporters of “hatred” for getting justifiably pissed about that. What, do you hate sons of millworkers, you elitists?
But you know what? I didn’t have to do that, because John Edwards had enough dignity to drop out when he knew he couldn’t win, and I was thrilled when he was the VP choice even though it wasn’t guaranteed. That’s the difference. I would have supported Hillary for VP a month ago, as would many people; now, I’m actually not sure she’s up to it.
Frankly, Hillary’s run a pretty mediocre campaign — if Edwards had the institutional and financial advantages she had coming in, I expect he’d be the nominee right now, and I wouldn’t be complaining. She had all that but still lost fair and square to Obama, who run a very good campaign. She’s done nothing but screw up for 6 months now (remember how Obama wanted to be President in kindergarten? … seriously, your oppo team pulled his kindergarten papers? and you used them!?) and doing stupid stuff like she did today does not convince me that it was just bad luck.
There is no better argument for her staying in the race than there was a month ago. She’s in fact farther from the nomination, and there are no reasonable prospects for her to win definitively. There are only long-shot scenarios that all involve continued rancor and vitriol and that at best give her a hair’s-breadth win over Obama — but in order to pursue them she has to argue that Obama’s slim lead over her is somehow illegitimate.
I understand that she is unhappy with the result, but I don’t see how it’s to be reversed and frankly, I have little sympathy — every candidate that’s ever dropped out of a close race is unhappy with the result, and she’s no different. Every other candidate already lost and dropped out, and there’s actually nothing wrong with that. I don’t see what differentiates her from good people like Dodd, Richardson, Kucinich or Edwards at this point except that she simply refuses to stop. Perhaps you could explain that to me.

Her advisors voted for it at the DNC. And they did it because they wanted to front-load the primary to a single day to hand her the election. That’s why, moron.
Obama has already agreed to seat those delegations, even though he’s actually not obligated to do so. Clinton’s attempt to count Florida and Michigan as-is isn’t just dishonest, it violates the DNC delegate selection rules, as I explained at length here. Read that and respond to it, please.

That was a JOKE. A sick, fucked-up JOKE. And I’m a freakin’ snarky blog poster just a few words away from being anonymous. Just because _I_ can happily shame myself with a really sick joke does not mean it’s a license for reality to follow along…
If I had known that Hillary would be openly talking about the importance of her continuing to campaign in hopes or the likelihood that someone would SHOOT OBAMA… I would not have made my Eight Belles joke, because it’s NOT FUNNY unless everybody is actually above that sort of thing.
The idea of a joke like that is, you’ve gone WAY BEYOND anything anyone could consider reasonable. It’s supposed to be shocking. You don’t SAY things like that, and then someone says it in a twisted way, and it’s shock-doubletake-haha, with a good percentage of people instead getting pissed off at you.
If you’re really good, you can make them laugh at it and THEN be pissed off at you- you can get a laugh that’s in an area beyond the pale if it’s unexpected and phrased right. You won’t come off as nice- you’ll come off as evil and sick- but you accept that in case you can get a laugh anyway.
I, that evil and sick snarky bastard, am really pretty stunned to discover that Senator Clinton is quite happy to go into this sick-joke, untouchable zone IN ALL SERIOUSNESS. It takes the wind out of my fucking sails, completely. I’m like, she went THERE??? When I fucking went there, it was in the full knowledge that I was breaking the unwritten rules of what’s even sayable in FUN. I had to think twice, knowing that to make an Eight Belles joke (just because Hil was running two primaries that night) was really beyond the pale, because even though it was clever it was joking about murdering one of the candidates, and you don’t even joke about that stuff.
I’m only a blog poster and don’t matter and furthermore don’t attend political rallies. So I went ahead. No regrets on that front.
I think now, in retrospect, it’s too bad I did, because by making a joke like that, it’s as if it’s blurring the line and making it less shocking that Senator Clinton is laying plans in hopes her opponent will be murdered.
And then she apologizes to the KENNEDYS. Not him.
Get her out of public office. She is not some blog poster who doesn’t matter. I’d never run for public office, I’m too fucked up.
So is Hillary, we now learn.
Get her out of the race and the Senate.

Can we call her a dick? Or is it sexist to have any reference to gender whatsoever?

I just heard the famous gaffe again twice on tv.
It really isn’t as bad as it sounded at first blush.
What she meant was, RFK was killed in June … June, when the process was still in full swing. So my staying in until June is no big deal.
It was about June, not assassinations. And it was a terrible gaffe and remarkably stupid. I think it indicates that she is exhausted and really just rambling at this point. But it doesn’t have any big dark meaning.

Just like when she “mis-spoke” about sniper fire in Tuzla.

Maybe Obama should call Buffy, just in case?

I am sorry if you thought I was addressing you Zoe, but nothing you said was on my radar. I was responding to Justin and his inane Clinton Talking Points bullshit.
I do agree with you on the ‘bitch’ part Zoe, and though the word was on my lips here, it will not make it to the fingers and on to BJ. Hillary and her campaign are target rich environments and we have more than enough material to talk about just using that.
On a humorous note, I was watching Washington Journal this AM and Arizona Rep. Trent Franks (R) was asked ‘what defense contractors helped you win your seat’ by a caller. His response was one for the books. His response?
‘When I first ran for office, no defense contractors helped me win my seat.‘
Not an exact quote, but ‘the first time‘ was exactly what he said. He has represented Arizona since 2003, so I guess his answer was ‘they didn’t help me the first time I won, but after I was elected and gave them everything they could ever dream for they were glad to help!
I guess he was being truthful. ;)

Of course it doesn’t, it’s just stupid and insensitive in about ten different ways, her apology made it worse, and if she can’t keep her eyes open until noon she sure as hell shouldn’t be answering the phone at 3AM.
Oh, and if she can’t handle a bad run of luck without carping about how now we live in Zimbabwe and what if my opponent gets assassinated, guess what, being President is a hard job and she’s clearly not up to it. I seem to recall one campaign making those arguments ad nauseum in the last few months.

Yet even the charitable explanation makes no sense.
The primary no longer is in “full swing.” We’re just a few weeks – and just as few delegates, seemingly – from this being over.
If HRC is saying she sees no reason to get out before the end, good for her. Just as long as she understands the end is nigh.

Nope, no sale, that comparison is false.
I have never said poor dear, she has PMS. I have said she is a bitch, and I think an awful lot of reasonable people who understand the word, and her, would agree that she is. You can argue that she is not a bitch, and feel free to do so. You can argue that she deserves more respect, but I don’t agree that she does. AFAIC she has not earned it in this context, at all. If she came over for dinner, I’d certainly talk respectfully to her to the greatest possible extent, but that’s a different context. We are in the street, not at the dinner table.
But don’t tell me that we are not allowed to call her a bitch. Don’t tell me which words of disrespect we are allowed to use. This is not a civil rights context, this is politics, and she is asking to be given the most powerful job on the planet in a country that prides itself on free speech.

Somewhere on this sob-sister fest it was stated that Hillary didn’t apologize to Obama. No reason she should since her remark had nothing to do with Obama, it was made about historically lengthy democratic primaries. Obama’s campaign’s reaction makes them look like wusses, no offense. Is Obama going to burst into tears if anyone ever looks at him cross-eyed? I mean seriously, boys and girls. Maybe we need a list of topics that can never be discussed around Obama and his hysterical supporters.

Me too, El Doh. She was “>just getting warmed up when it came to HRC:

Hey El Doh: Obama call Buffy, huh?
Here, take this from someone who’s made just as tasteless jokes- it’s not funny when Clinton is seriously laying plans around the idea of Obama being murdered.
It’s not. She’s taken that zone from us as a sick-humor zone. It’s only funny if everybody involved would never do such a thing. Yes, I know Barack Obama would not get a vampire slayer to stake Hillary, so that’s kinda funny.
But Hillary can and will and IS trying to lay plans around the hoped-for murder of her rival, in full knowledge that she’s been trying to work her supporters up into a feverish pitch.
Murder jokes have just become not funny. I don’t know where we can actually go that’s left, as far as tasteless or snarky. But we just lost trying-to-kill-each-other jokes, because Hillary turns out to actually hope for that- it being the only shot she has left.
No longer funny.
zoe from pittsburgh
Justin,
Hillary’s RFK reference was an INCREDIBLY STUPID and INSENSITIVE REMARK. Do I think that she meant that Obama will get assasinated or wants him to be? No.
However, there is a bigger problem here. Like Obama’s “bitter” comment there is very little room for error in this race– and this is one of those “mispoke” errors that could give her an awful lot of grief. It doesn’t really matter what she meant by it because it just sounds BAD.
The MSM is having a field day with it already– how many news cycles will it last? Only time will tell if this is the kind of gaffee that might short-circuit her campaign.
Dennis - SGMM
Wasn’t Clinton the one who brought it up?
Ass.
ThymeZone
Not the Obamasphere, you moron. Most reasonable people will hear the blurb the first time and go, What the hell did she just say? It was such a grotesque gaffe, one can be sure what one heard at first.
But after we have kicked it around, and heard it a few times, it starts to take on its real meaning, which was, these things last until June.
However … you of course miss the biggest point of all. A person at the president level can’t make gaffes like that. At that level, a leader has to pick the words very carefully. Honestly, even though I think she made just a verbal mistake, it was one that I don’t think is tolerable at her level of operation. If she is that tired and that overwrought, then she should not be talking publicly today, she should be taking a day off and resting up. It goes to her judgment and her priorities and her humility, which I find lacking.
ThymeZone
Only she can do that, and she is unfortunately doing a very good job of it.
Doug H. (Fausto no more)
Fixed again. Happy to help.

And I’d like to point out for the record that doomed presidential campaigns are VERY EXPENSIVE, and that continuing one at great expense with your only hope being the murder of your rival is basically BETTING WITH YOUR WALLET that somebody will kill that pesky Negro if you hint it enough.
This isn’t in a vacuum. It costs Hillary the earth to keep this going, and if that’s the only reason that’s left, she’s betting her bankroll on that circumstance happening. NOT just “oh, probably nothing will happen” at ? dollars a day.

Now for some more humor:
A Hypothetical Speech by Vice Presidential Candidate Clinton.
Dennis - SGMM
El Doh
Actually, when this race started, I supported Edwards. Hillary and Obama were roughly equal in my view and I didn’t care which won. I was pissed at Hillary’s AUMF vote and vote on Kyl-Lieberman, but I preferred her Healthcare stance and I was unhappy with Obama’s support of coal-liquefaction. Both are solid Dems, and while not perfect, I’ll take either over anyone the GOP has.
Then she started campaigning Hillary-style.
It started out with how she was inevitable. She would win, no others could stand in her way. Fine, whatever.
Then she started to lose, and that’s when it all went wrong.
First it was dismissal of states she lost for being too Black, or too red or too caucus-y. Then too much latte or too many volvos or whatever. They didn’t go for Hillary, they don’t count.
Then she endorsed McCain over her Democratic rival for C-in-C.
Next, we had all manner of claims of sexism. The ones I saw cited were almost entirely from the media or Republicans, but that didn’t stop her people blaming Obama. I’ll give you him calling the reporter “sweetie”, but please, don’t try to spin the “periodically” line on me if you don’t want people to point and laugh at you.
She went from “the elections won’t count” to “seat every delegate!” in elections she pledged not to participate in but stayed on the ballot and now wants the delegates from — and insists that Obama must NOT have the MI uncomitteds because “he wasn’t on the ballot”. But that’s all about the will of the people, despite exit polls showing many people damn well did want to vote for Obama that day. Many people also didn’t vote in elections they were told wouldn’t count, but they don’t matter, either.
She hurled “bitter” accusations, spoke scathingly about San Francisco, used the old Republican “Elitist” charge and claimed she was the choice of the white working class and that trumps all else.
She’s issued press releases that cite Grover Norquist.
Her surrogates have told Fox News how fair and balanced they are, and everywhere else is the “liberal media”.
There’s a whole bunch more — such as the infamous “as far as I know” comment on 60 minutes, but I’m getting pissed off again just writing this.
I’m pretty much a yellow dog Democrat who was apathetic towards both Hillary and Obama but wants to see a Democrat in the White House come Jan 2008.
She’s got me pissed off at her behavior, to the point I seriously question if I could vote for her if she got the nomination. Depends how she gets there, I guess, and even then it’d be a vote against McCain that would likely push me to vote for her.
That’s why you’re seeing this kind of response. Hillary has only herself to blame, and if you can’t see that she’s been incredibly divisive in this primary then you’re part of the problem too.
Obama’s not perfect, but he hasn’t been a total asshole.
Don’t expect a mea culpa from me any time soon.
Chris Johnson
Followup with a bit of Google treasure.
She’s been spending as much as 9.5 million a MONTH.
THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A DAY to keep her campaign active- that’s as in ‘staying busy rather than dropping out and joining the other sidelined candidates’- basically ensuring her position as a back-up should Obama be killed.
Three hundred thousand dollars a day in hopes Barack Obama is murdered so she can be freshest in people’s memory and the most currently active candidate in that event.
THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A DAY to make sure people wouldn’t turn around and pick Edwards instead.
Not that she hopes Barack is murdered or anything!
THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A DAY, some from little kids selling their bikes.
But she doesn’t WANT Barack assasinated or anything.
She’s just spending.
THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A DAY.

The original remark about the RFK assassination was profoundly wrong. It was in her head, and she said it. There are other examples of long primaries that she could have referred to. And she demurely lies through long sections of the interview and says that she “doesn’t understand it?” Please… does she take us all for fools ? There’s been lots of reporting about her hanging around cause he hasn’t been vetted enough, the live boy, dead girl jokes, etc. It’s not an over reaction to be pissed off that today’s version is that RFK got shot and there need to be other candidates still in the race. WTF ??
And then we get a classic non-apology apology… Hillary basically said, “I regret that some people are offended…” bullshit.. NO, it should be something like “I said something very offensive, it was stupid, and I am sorry.”
In the last couple of days she’s given us the Zimbabwe, suffragette, civil rights bull over MI and FLA. There’s been an endless flood of Team Clinton attempts to “re-interpret” everything about this campaign. THERE IS NO INTEGRITY !!!
She does not have the temperament to be president. She does not have the requisite moral core. She is all tactics with no sense of strategy or vision. She is pure ambition. One of the interesting memes about the Bush Administration is that NO ONE emerges undamaged, with a better reputation than they went in with. That dynamic is also true of Hillary. Sooner or later, everyone emerges damaged… that includes the Democratic party.
Hillary no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt.
I’m a 61 year old white, feminist woman, and I get angry when somebody reflexively uses the term bitch. But sometimes a woman behaves like a bitch just like sometimes a man deserves to be called a bastard. In deference to our host JC, she’s an asshole.
She’s dangerous and it’s time for super delegates to run, not walk, to declare their pledge… GET OFF THE DAMNED FENCE.

I just heard the clip again, and I have to respectfully disagree with you TZ. She was saying that Bill did not wrap the nomination up until June in California, and then she followed that with ‘but we all remember Bobby Kennedy was killed in June’. She was making the exact point she wanted. While she was not saying that someone would kill Obama, she was saying that it could happen. That was her reason for the conflation of the two topics, and there is no other excuse that will cover it.
She is thinking this is a possibility, not hoping it will happen (‘to the best of my knowledge’). But the fact that she even mentioned it is disturbing.
She blew it, big time. She thought she was stating a valid argument for her to stay in, and in her mind it must be. While she has had this thought in her mind, that is where it should have stayed. Her voicing this ‘concern’ of hers shows that she is beyond any reason now. She will go to any lengths to try to win, and the longer this drags on the more desperate she is getting.

Nobody said ‘expects’. She HOPES. Hopes it enough that she’ll spend a million dollars every three days waiting for it, that being the only serious last chance she thought she had.
Not ‘expects’. Expects would be more forgivable, really.
By verbal blunder, do you mean ‘reveals what she really wishes’ or do you mean ‘says something that she actually doesn’t want to happen, she’s just spending $300K a day for lulz’?
Craig
Anyone who truly thinks that she hopes that he gets killed is beyond reasoning with, frankly.
John Cole
I don’t think she hopes it or wants it or anything like that.
I will point out that extending a divisive primary just long enough because anything could happen ( the assassination of your opponent) seems sort of pathetic.
You lost. Stop stringing your supporters along. If your best justification for why you remain in the race is a distortion of how the old primaries ran (they started in march, not January like this year) or the idea that someone might pop a cap in Obama, it might be time to stop taking money from kids who sell their video games.
zoe from pittsburgh
Hillary should give the kid his money back so he can buy back his bike and video games.
Olbermann’s “special comment” ROCKED. I’ve never seen him quite so pissed and indignant. In a nutshell, he says that invoking any reference to assasination is UNFORGIVEABLE and that her non-apology only made it worse. He also put it like this– she’s using the unpredictable event of Bobby Kennedy’s assasination as a justification for staying in the race after she has clearly lost.
Rachel Maddow called it “ghoulish” and “creepy.” BTW, when are they going to give her her own show? Could she have Dan Abrams’ show??? He’s not doing anything interesting with it.

but John has already said the same thing above.
She said something incredibly stupid. Obama’s campaign responded in measured, reasonable tones. For her supporters to now accuse the Obama campaign of trying to leverage of this is the worst sort of hypocrisy after every minor slip of Obama’s has been amplified and trumpeted by Hillary herself.
She lost. She said something dumb which (I hope) will be the end of her campaign. Deal with it.

When George Stayontopofit says this is it for the wife of his former employer, I do believe it’s over.
Of course, we haven’t reckoned with the possibility that, from beyond all space and time, the astral presence of RFK, being the sexist he was (and from a famously womanizing family of sexists and sexist-enablers), asked of the almighty, itself a renowned sexist, to take control of Hilary’s consciousness for a brief moment in Cedar Falls and *cause* her to make this gaffe: the assassination in question being of course the fee simple of said RFK and therefore his by rights to use to embarrass poor downtrodden heroic women who dare to call foul against the patriarchy, one that extends e’en to the very edge of the empyrean, and finally to put her in her place, eternally to bake cookies or shred incriminating documents at Rose.

I listened to the video again and she obviously meant that primaries can go until June without a nominee. Of course the wording was unfortunate.

Just have to note this
from the trackback at 9:19 p.m. from The Sundries Shack. I can only conclude that said shack is located in Bizarro World.
slightly_peeved
Here’s my problem with it:
Say in some alternate universe, Bizarro Hillary Clinton conceded gracefully (or for that matter, ungracefully) and never made any reference to assassinations.
Then, Bizarro Barack Obama gets assassinated.
I would have thought the immediate thing to do would be to appoint Bizarro Hillary Clinton as the new Democratic Nominee, seeing as she was clearly the runner-up in the race, WHETHER OR NOT SHE WAS STILL IN THE PRIMARY RACE. Ditto if Bizarro Barack Obama had come out of the closet, or become a scientologist, or any “dead girl/live boy” situation. The party leaders aren’t ever going to go “well this guy’s now referring to himself as Mother Shabubu, but Clinton conceded, so we can’t go with her…”
However, if Barack Obama was assassinated now, even if Hillary Clinton doesn’t get implicated in it directly, you can bet people will talk. And I think this comment would be a major factor in not giving her the nomination under those circumstances.
The idea that Clinton should stay in the race in case of Obama completely blowing it is bogus and she knows it. The delegates could switch the nomination back to her if that happened whether or not she had conceded. She still reckons she can take this thing – either that, or she’s just trying to recoup her costs.

I’m sorry if I’m coming across like ‘Hillary is CALLING FOR Obama’s assassination’. Even I don’t believe that.
But if this idea would seem so awful to her, why the tone? Or LACK of tone, the blithe quality of her original fuckup and the non-apology where she’s sorry for offending the Kennedys?
Hillary wanting Obama dead is not itself a crime. I’d be shocked if she was DOING anything to try and make this happen, that would be more crazy than I’m willing to believe. But you’re not going to convince me that she doesn’t want Obama dead. She must hate him so, so much, more than we can imagine.
OF COURSE she hopes he’s murdered.
It just slipped out, sort of indirectly. Even she wouldn’t say it directly. But spare me this ‘of course she doesn’t want him dead’, that’s so unreasonable.
I don’t expect her not to be filled with hate and want Obama killed. That’s HER problem, one that mostly she deals with very well. I’m sure Obama is furious with her as well, and I betcha Michelle Obama would love to see Hillary dead.
But they have to stay civilized, and ACT like civilized people. Obama’s managing it, and Hillary’s pulled a ‘hey you never know, wouldn’t it be AWFUL if…’.
I think what you people mean is, “No, of course Hillary isn’t INTENTIONALLY trying to provoke anybody to kill Obama” and I’ll go along with that.
Don’t tell me she doesn’t want him dead. Come *on*. Get real. Think of who you’re talking about.
daniel rotter
Good grief, she was comparing herself to RFK, not Obama. She was indicating that it is not unprecedented for a presidential candidate to stay in the race this long. She mentioned RFK’s assassination because, by June, the month that he was assassinated, he was still in the presidential race. This is why she didn’t mention Obama in her apology and didn’t need to. It’s ironic that people are labeling her as insane over these remarks, when anyone who actually believes that Hillary was making a “wait, Obama might just be assassinated” argument are suffering from a severe case of A.H.C.D.S. (anti-Hillary-Clinton-Derangement Syndrome). Again, SHE WAS COMPARING HERSELF, NOT OBAMA, TO RFK.
daniel rotter
You people are truly pathetic to believe that Hillary Clinton was making an “I have to stay in this race because Obama might get assassinated” argument. instead of the what she actually meant, which I explained in the previous post. Jeralyn is right that media and blog commentators are engaging here in character assassination. It’s you people (the people who actually believe that her words here were implying a possible future Obama assassination before the primary process is completed) who have jumped the shark and not Hillary. You people are just blinded by your A.H.C.D.S. suffering. Once again, to the bottom-dwellers, to the now-I’m-starting-to-believe-that-she-really-did-have-Vince-Foster-killed idiots, to the severe A.H.C.D.S. suffers, SHE WAS COMPARING HERSELF, NOT OBAMA, TO RFK.
daniel rotter
in my last post, there should have been a comma, instead of a period, after “argument,” and there shouldn’t have been a “the” before “what she actually meant.” Finally, it should have been “A.H.C.D.S. sufferers,” not “A.H.C.D.S. suffers.”
Chris Johnson
Uh-huh.
“I HAVE to stay in the race, if I drop out now how could I be assassinated”?
You’re crazy, rotter, that doesn’t even make sense.
At least her wishing Obama dead makes sense, though she’s not allowed to say such things and I think the intensity with which she’s clung to such a hope disqualifies her from ALL public office and she should resign her Senate seat.
Define “because, who knows what might happen?”. This is plain as day, it’s just revealing things you don’t want to admit.
Chris Johnson
Clinton keeps surprising me, but I’d really be astonished if she had this Vince Foster killed. Who was he? It was some wingnut psychosis as far as I know. I don’t even want to hear any more about that, I’ve learned waaaay too much about hillary lately for comfort. Don’t tell me anything more about this Foster dude, it’s bad enough!
daniel rotter
“At least her wishing Obama dead makes sense…”
And A.H.C.D.S. claims another victim. She was just making the point that presidential primaries have lasted longer than this one has and this is why she brought up June 1968 and RFK. She brought up the latter’s assassination because a lot of people would remember the month of such a horrendous event…a month that illustrated her “presidential primaries have lasted longer than this one and, therefore, why should I drop out now?” point.
daniel rotter
“It was some wingnut psychosis…”
The perfect words to describe the thinking of someone who thinks it’s possible that Hillary wants Obama dead.
binzinerator
Good grief, you are a stupid fuck.
Do you work for the Clinton campaign?
Rick Taylor
I’m actually more on the side of this was an unfortunate gaffe, probably from the stress of campaigning and being under the spotlight, but this doesn’t make much sense to me. Is RFK’s assassination widely known for having occurred in June? It seems like an awfully strange way to make a point: oh yeah, RFK was assassinated in June! I guess the primary was still going on then, I guess back then people didn’t worry if the primary went past June.
daniel rotter
“Do you work for the Clinton campaign?”
None of your business, but even if I did, that fact alone would be an argument against anything I have written in this thread how…..?
Joyce
Robert Kennedy was 42 years old and left a devoted wife and 11 children. Has Hillary no shame???
daniel rotter
“Is RFK’s assassination widely known for having occurred in June?”
Well, Hillary seems to think so. You can disagree with her on that point, but that’s not the same as insanely thinking that she was making a “I need to stay in the race because Obama might get assassinated before the primaries are over” argument.
nightjar
Nobody here has said that. Please take your strawmen and the AHCDS horseshit and crawl back into the BTD hole. Man these whiny Hilbot trolls get tiresome, and your one of the tiredest Rotter.
binzinerator
…rational argument?
You stupid tool. No one of any importance is saying Clinton was hoping someone would off Obama. But just about everyone knows what she said was her justfication for staying in the race because Obama might get assassinated.
That, as the host of this blog noted, is beyond obscene.
As Keith Olbermann said, “You cannot say this.”
She cannot say this. She thinks she can say what ever the hell she wants to win. She can’t. She cannot say this.
But she did. I am horrified. Horrified.
Keith Olbermann:
Dennis is right. Clinton has crossed a line of decency where even Republicans did not go.
I am horrified. Horrified.
daniel rotter
“Robert Kenedy was 42 years old and left a devoted wife and 11 children. Has Hillary no shame???”
So the very fact that Hillary brought up RFK’s assassination somehow means that she is denigrating his widow and offspring? Good grief, like another poster mentioned, her comments were meant to focus on June primaries, not on a possible future assassination of Barack. She shouldn’t apologize to Barack Obama for this because she was puting herself in the RFK role of someone who stays in late in the presidential primaries (June, in the latter’s individual’s specific case). Her comments had nothing to do with Obama.
daniel rotter
“Nobody here has said that.”
Wrong, nightjar. I give you Chris Johnson on May 23rd at 10:28 p.m. (“OF COURSE she hope’s he’s murdered’). It takes a big man/woman to admit he/she is wrong.
Chuck Butcher
Obama’s low key responses drive them nuts, he’s supposed to go off and when he doesn’t it is twice as vicious. Oh hell, she didn’t mean she’s waiting for him to get killed. I don’t know if she’s thinking it would work out if he did, pretending to mind read is silly. It was incredibly stupid. Just exactly that, incredibly stupid and taken at that level does her huge damage. Disqualifying it with loony theories isn’t helpful.
Obama keeps kicking her ass in public because he understates or ignores or goes to the heart of the issue an not her. He’s a master politician, wake the fuck up. Why bother to aggressively undo his work if you support him? Damn, every once in awhile you get up next to one of these guys and you have to just shake your head in admiration as they put people away with a gentle smile.
Sen Ron Wyden (D) OR is one of those guys, he just disarms opponents and demonstrates what a reasonable thoughtful nice guy policy wonk he is, and nobody sees the shiv. He’s a left Democrat who wins the entire state, you might as well try to run against a warm sunny day. Honestly, he is a nice guy and he is a policy wonk. He’s also a winner. He’s homely, a poor voice, a string bean of a man, and he wins.
Keeeeripes, Justin is easy; disassemble his lies and nonsense and let it go. TZ will go bitchbitchbitch because you’ve told him it’s irritating, so what? Who is going to read TZ and run off and tell MSM on him? I’ll bet you there were some conversations back in the 90s that had Hillary saying, “You let what you got up to with that bitch get out!!!???” or some varient.
You guys don’t see Obama slicing and dicing Hillary? No you don’t, you’re not supposed to – doesn’t mean it’s not happening, it just has to be done in a manner that leaves your opponent looking stupid and weak if they object. Hilloons know it’s been done and scream but they can’t quite get ahold of it and look like fools. ‘That’s an odd position to take considering the Clinton pardons of Weathermen’ left a gaping gash. No heat, no bluster, no nyah, nyah, just a bleeding corpse and move on.
There’s some pretty good snark and spoof around here, hell I keep coming back for it, but y’all are pikers next to BHO. He’s improved a lot over time with Hillary as a foil. He’s baiting the shit out of McCain, he’ll have that guy suffering from bleeding ulcers before they ever debate. You know he’s got someone watching everything McCain does and talking to every Dem Senator McCain’s ever crossed swords with and every local pol. He’s oppo-ing the absolute snot out of him looking for every chink and nook and a subtle tool to stick into each. He just plain gets to Hillary and he’s going to do that to McCain.
He’s a politician and a damned good one but just because he doesn’t do Republican slash and burn doesn’t mean he’s not doing his opponents. If I’ve seen something I don’t quite know what to make of in this context it was the warning off about Michelle.
The piece of this that bothers me is the question of how many Hillary supporters really won’t vote Obama in the GE. There’s some pretty deep resentment out there that isn’t the Hilloons. Those are the ones you need to have some consideration of, not here, they’re not here; elsewhere. Obama is going to have to address that, I’m not about to tell him how – he’s way out of my league.
Brachiator
This could not have been what Hillary meant. Or rather, as is par for the course, she just makes shit up and her devotees eagerly fill in the blanks.
The 1968 campaign did not last longer than this one.
As I pointed out earlier in this thread, only 13 states held primaries in 1968.
Robert Kennedy entered the race on March 16. Lyndon Johnson announced that he would not run for re-election on March 31, and the eventual nominee, Hubert Humphrey entered the race very shortly after this. Humphrey never won a majority of votes cast in primaries, but was supported by the party machine. In fact, Humphrey could have dropped from sight until the 1968 convention and still won the nomination.
And from March 16 to June is not even three full months.
So Hillary’s statement is nearly 100% fact free, and too confused for anyone to draw any conclusions that remotely relate to her insistence on staying in the race. The reference to RFK’s death is both gratuitous and offensive.
Similarly, Senator Clinton’s invoking her husband’s 1992 is also flawed.
nightjar
Ok. one person said it. That’s not much of a case to make.
The rest of your argument is bullshit though. She was asked why she was staying in race in June and she stated several reasons inferring that unexpected things happen that could change the nature of the race and in fact things had happened late in the primary process. One of those things was when Robert Kennedy got killed. Some others have posited that she was comparing herself to JFK. I think that’s a rather bizzare take, but who cares at this point. Her campaign is over in disgrace, as it should be.
Rick Taylor
I actually do see it sometimes. There was that debate where he was challenged on Farakhan, and somehow turned it around and ended up making both Hillary and the moderators look foolish asking him both to condemn and reject him. There was the time he was nodding and saying of course she should be able to stay in the race, and admiring her spirit continuing to compete after she’d lost ten states in a row. It’s not entirely fair but it’s effective, and it drives her supporters up the wall.
daniel rotter
“Some others have posited that she was comparing herself to JFK.”
No, she was comparing herself to RFK.
daniel rotter
“Hillary is now claiming that she is partially justified in staying in the race because let’s face it-someone might kill Obama.”
Good grief, she didn’t even mention Obama in her comments. I guess lying is one of the symptoms of A.H.C.D.S.
TenguPhule
We are taking up a collection to buy rotter a clue.
Chuck Butcher
Really it sounded a lot like a person with no answer flailing around for one and trying to hook up with some greatness. Damned offensive but trying to make a point that has no point off the cuff is asking for trouble. She could have said I’ve made promises to my supporters and they deserve for this to play out. That actually could be a truthful and princpled answer – but leave it to Hillary to miss that opportunity.
I’ve been tired of Hillary since ’92 but I was willing for NY to like her and she was only 1 of 100 but no, NY just had to inflict her on the rest of us, damn I wish they’d kept her home. Maybe this will drive a stake through Clinton/DLC/McAuliff/Penn and Co. Honest to god I thought Dean had gotten us shed of that fuck McAuliff.
I blame you NY, you can’t run a state or goddamed city and yet what’s good for you is what we get.
nightjar
Well that changes everything. sigh.
I have a wooden nickel to get things started.
zoe from pittsburgh
Regardless of what she meant or was thinking at the time, even her supporters need to recognize that using RFK’s assasination as an example of campaigns that carry on into the summer is just in POOR TASTE. Especially when running against someone who is recognized as being at such high risk of being the victim of violence. I know it something that none of us like to think or talk about, BUT, there are hundreds of WHITE SUPREMACIST groups in this country– there are actual self-identified NAZIs in this country who must be outraged at the possibility of a bi-racial man as POTUS. Obama had to have a security detail right after he announced– which means the death threats have likely been there since day one. She HAS to know this.
All POTUS candidates put themselves at risk for “crazies” to target them. But we all know that Obama is at far greater risk and not just from people who need to be medicated.
Yes, Hillary is exhausted. Yes, it was most certainly a very stupid gaffe. I actually feel a little bad for her for this one. But that is the thing about politics– when you make a mistake and say something that can be easily misconstrued to be REALLY OFFENSIVE you have to apologize for it effectively. She didn’t. It was incredibly insensitive for Hillary to go anywhere near this subject and she needs to realize that.
Chris Johnson
Dammit, I stand by my exact statement and won’t have it twisted.
Hillary HOPES FOR her rival’s assassination. To the tune of $300K a day.
She does not SEEK his death. She is not trying to ARRANGE his death. She is not even consciously trying to CONRIVE his death or intentionally INCITING his death by planting the idea in the minds of her host of crazies, some of whome are absolutely fitting the template for people who take such actions (intense sense of grievance and ability to insist their actions are the victim’s fault).
But she HOPES for Obama’s murder, and it slipped out.
Rick Taylor
Well put.
PaulB
It wouldn’t, of course, but it would let us know whether you’re a paid propagandist or just a moron. Enquiring minds and all that….
daniel rotter
“Well that changes everything (that she was comparing herself, not Obama, to RFK). Sigh.”
Actually, it does, because it takes away the ridiculous “Hillary wants to stay in the race because she believes that Obama might be assassinated” interpretation of her remarks. This, of course, implies that she was putting Obama in the RFK position.
daniel rotter
“…just a moron.”
Perfect description of someone who believes that she meant that she’s staying in the race because Obama might be assassinated. Keep up the projection, people, and seek help for A.H.C.D.S.
nightjar
Listen up you tiny piece shit. Don’t add your own crapola in quotations of what I said. I mistakenly said JFK while meaning to say RFK.
Now I’ll leave you with a quote from RFK JR. on this situation.
“I’ve heard her make that argument before,” Mr. Kennedy said, speaking on his cellphone as he drove to the family compound in Hyannis Port, Mass. “It sounds like she was invoking a familiar historical circumstance in support of her argument for continuing her campaign.”
Now STFU and take your medicine.
daniel rotter
That RFK Jr. quote doesn’t contradict my (correct) interpretation of Hillary’s remarks at all, although the very fact that you quoted it indicates that you believe it does.
nightjar
Yawn!
Conservatively Liberal
We need better trolls. Think we can apply to the McCain campaign and see if they will send a few over for a tryout?
I am glad you have accomplished a mind-meld with RFKjr, and can so purely divine his thoughts on the matter. Now you better get out there and starting convincing the majority of Americans who are horrified at what she said. You got a lot of work to do so get to it. I will try to save you some time and tell you right now that you are wasting your time here.
We deal in reality of the universe we inhabit, not the alternate reality of the Clintoniverse you and your ilk inhabit. Now head back to Hillaryis44, I heard they were missing a brain cell.
daniel rotter
“…can so purely divine his thoughts on the matter.”
I wasn’t “divining” RFK’s jr.’s “thoughts,” I was looking at his words…and finding that they did not contradict my interpretation of Hillary’s remarks regarding his father’s assassination. Please tell how “It sounds like she was invoking a familiar historical circumstance in support of her argument for continuing her campaign” automatically =”It sounds like Hillary wants to stay in the race because she believes Obama could be assassinated.” RFK Jr.’s words are general enough that they can be just as consistent with my interpretation of Hillary’s remarks as the interpretation given to them by John Cole and all the other A.H.C.D.S. sufferers on this board.
Conservatively Liberal
I looked at her words, as did many other people, and they were offensive. No ifs, ands or buts about it, they were offensive. I am not going to waste my breath explaining why to you because you will only see it as you do and nothing lil’ ol’ me says will change that.
You will not convince anyone here (except a few well placed trolls like yourself) that what she was saying was not what we thought. It was. There is absolutely no comparison between her race, Bill’s race and RFK’s race, except that they all were vying for the nomination. That is where the similarities end. She said that ‘shit happens’, and she is staying in because of that. End of story. It was her justification she gave, and how she worded it, that led to that conclusion.
She has said this in the past (five times now), but this time it was caught on tape. As someone else said, this is Hillary’s ‘Dean Scream’ moment, her ‘macaca’ moment. She is all but done now, and you watch what happens in the next two weeks. She is radioactive now, and people are going to start wandering away from her. She blew it, and only her most die-hard supporters and Republican ratfuckers who want her to win because she is the weaker candidate will defend her now.
Which one are you?
daniel rotter
“You will not convince anyone here (except a few well placed trolls like yourself) that what she was saying was not what we thought.”
Well, maybe so, but my inability to convince doesn’t mean that I am wrong in my interpretation of her remarks.
