That means I have written a whole lot of gibberish in the past few years. Maybe this will make up for it:

Tunch, resting on top of the printer, where he spends most of the day.

That is actually where Tunch spends most of the day, although some days he lies on the desk in between the keyboard and the monitor to make it easier to attack my hands. He sleeps there so much I have to keep the paper tray pulled out, so that he will not roll over on the form feed button and cause a piece of paper to “attack” him. When that happens, all hell breaks loose and he attacks the printer and gets the offending piece of paper jammed.

At any rate, there goes post 10,000. About as important as the previous 9,999 posts.

There is insufficient Tunch in this post. Hmmph!

That’s some great feline behavior. It beats First’s hobby of grooming anything that will let her – Last, me, blankets, windows…

Awesome cat, but those red eye issues must be worked out.

I just bought a Flip Ultra camcorder, so low-tech even I can use it first time out.

Evidently you can plug the thing straight into your computer’s USB port and download your clip straight to YouTube.

I suspect my first-ever contribution will be of my poor little shaved cat. It was the only way they could get the mats out, but he looks a bit like a feline poodle. And he just can’t figure out what happened.

Yes, I am turning into an old biddy by the minute.

Every blogging milestone should be honored with a picture of a cat doing wtfiw and looking pretty damn smug while he does so. Just don’t let him discover the toasty warmth of a laptop.

I would pay to see the movie “Tunch v. The Page of Doom.” is there any way you can get that on UTube?

I think this was one of your better posts, actually…

Hilarious! You should put it on YouTube...

    Is that cat deaf?

I’ve got an all white cat with one blue eye and one yellow eye, and he’s deaf.

...something about white cats with blue eyes.

Sure, Pb, YouTube has cute kitty-and-printer video, but it’s also a meeting place for hardcore cat-spankers. I think Tunch is a top and wouldn’t tolerate a moment of this.

I started reading it early on. But then I had a “know your enemy” motivation. These days, post-Cole’s conversion, it’s become my favorite political blog.

Had I known as much about John then as I do now (including his soft spot for kitties), I’d have realized that his change of heart was inevitable.

I went through some old threads from about 3-4 years ago, and no one from those threads has commented here since at least Schiavo. They all pretty much agree I am a turncoat asshole now.

Hmm. I think I go back three years. I’d have to go look myself up—but I’ve been here a long, long time, dood.

  22. 22

    Tim F.

I’ve been here long enough to remember a many of the older commenters – Stormee, Ricky, Mac Buckets, Defense Guy, and the scads of rightwing bloggers who came and went. Jeff Goldstein was sometimes pretty funny, though pathologically in love with the random output of his dog-eared thesaurus. Most don’t realize that the one winger whom everyone remembers arrived later than I did and was flamed hard by John on his very first comment.

One by one those guys declared the blog a circlejerking cesspool of liberal hate and left, and believe it or not that used to drive John up the wall. I even wrote a couple of posts about it, since for a while it was a point of pride that we had a healthy mix of wingnuts and libtards.

Anyway, now we have some Obama supporters and some Hillary supporters and call that diversity. Not that I’m complaining about that.

Same. I think I started commenting around 2005, if I’m not mistaken. Congrats on the 10,000th post, John! And it’s nice to see Tunch again. We hadn’t seen pics of him or heard about him in so long, I was starting to grow concerned.

Tim, you certainly antedate me, although not by too much. Goldstein, Defense Guy, Mac Buckets, all the rest (but not yet the Senator) were all here when I joined, as were you, Krista, and ppgaz (whose name I misread as ppqaz, I believe).

I’ve been reading here a while… somewhere between demi and Tim F. perhaps. I do remember that I first started reading because I followed a link here from a kos post, so I certainly haven’t been reading for as long as Markos. :)

I keep coming back here to look at Tunch blissed out on the printer. I’m having a sucky, stressful day, so I take my wee hit of Zen where I can find it.

On to your 20,000th post, John! We’ll be nipping at your heels all the way.

  32. 32

Thanks, John. You have the classiest blog in the tubes. And, a cat blogger to boot. Sorry I wasn’t around for your conversion into a DFH.

I’m pretty much a newbie in these parts. And my cat that would remember those days, the one who liked the computer and would walk on the keyboard and claw the monitor because she liked the feel of static electricity—she died. My new cat just sits behind me on the back of the office chair and claws the leather when she thinks I’m not looking. My dog remembers back that far, but computers just bore him. He waits around to go on walks.

You “get” contemporary politics in a way that not many others do.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don’t know what you mean, really. I guess I don’t “get it” that much after all. :P

Out of curiousity, when did you join on as a front pager Tim? What were the circumstances?

He was a left-wingish commenter with Kevin Drum-like moderation and always posted good comments so one night after some wine I emailed him and asked him if he wanted to contribute. The blog had been around for 4 years or so and I thought it was time to add to it.

    Good addition, I think.

If you include my work as Stormy, then yes. When I started as DougJ, a whole bunch of others were already here.

Piss right off! You were not Stormy! Or are you now just yanking my chain? I never realy know with you.

  39. 39

    demimondian

Actually, Krista, I wouldn’t be surprised it at least some of Stormy’s work wasn’t written by a woman, but I was new enough here that I wasn’t sure. I could have done a lot of “her” clothing stuff myself—I have a background in costume design, so I could have faked it. I always found the hard alcohol stuff just…wrong. I know a lot of southern female upper class drunks, but they never admitted to their alcoholism quite like that; they were more refined about their afternoon slosh.

“I would like you to pet my belly. You will know when it is time to stop, as I will notify you by suddenly biting your hand and kicking it…with my claws extended, of course.”

The whole point of that pose is so they can suddenly maul your hand. “Look at the soft furry belly. Touch it. Come on. Yes, yesssss. [Violent attack] Ha ha, hairless monkey, I got you it again!”

Special toxins in their saliva and ensuing blood loss erase the memory so you fall for it again. And again. And …
