Well, What If There Is No Tomorrow? There Wasn’t One Today.

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Every day is the same on the wingnut blogs:

A new video of Jeremiah Wright has surfaced, showing Barack Obama’s pastor of 20 years praising Marxism and discussing his ties to communists in El Salvador and Nicaragua and the Libyan government. Equally important, Wright is being introduced in the video by Robert W. McChesney, co-founder of Free Press, an organization which has come under scrutiny for its links to the Obama Administration and dedication to the transformation and control of the private media in the U.S.

That would be the same Cliff Kincaid who told CPAC that Obama was not born in the United States.

What It Looks Like to Be Driven Insane

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Ron Radosh at PJ Media reacts to the Nobel prize news to… insist Bill Ayers will write Obama’s acceptance speech, just as he did his books.

Is it too much to hope that one day, beltway wankers like Chip Reid will realize that Bush Derangement Syndrome was just projection, and that they will begin to understand that the Republican party is not filled with rational actors.

Is This It

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

We’ve spent a lot of time debating the possible existence of peak wingnut here. If this isn’t it, then it’s, at the very least, the Sistine Chapel of early 21st century wingnuttia (via Wonkette).

Update. Via the comments note that the black man in the blue shirt on the left is holding the Glenn Beck bible.

A Thought Experiment

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

If you ever wondered how the rest of the world views our wingnuts when they speak on the global stage, you should turn on CNN right now and watch Gadhafi’s rambling and incoherent speech.

More Limited Government Enthusiasts

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Here is another wingnut whose outlandish behaviors and beliefs are being provided rhetorical cover by the glibertarians at Reason:

Yeah. This is about limited government. No birtherism or latent racism here. Just keep walking.

Overwhelming Support for Limited Government

Here:

You can tell that these are just calm, but passionate, supporters of limited government.

The Palin Generation

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Via Crooks and Liars, you just have to watch this segment on MSNBC regarding Obama’s speech:

I wonder when Buckley was working to forge the future of conservatism all those years ago if he had any idea it would one day degenerate into a bizarre patchwork of birthers, young-earthers, gun nuts, shithouse lawyers, and conspiracy theorists, with meth mouth and confederate flags serving as the defining characteristics of the new conservatism.

Stay Classy, Teabaggers

Interesting

A couple of months back, I emailed Radley Balko a link to a youtube video a pastor in the SW had made talking about his run-in with border patrol, and asked him if he knew anything about it. He didn’t, so I let it drop. Here is the video:

Turns out Steven Anderson is a busy guy:

A controversial Tempe pastor who admits he prays for the President’s death got into a heated exchange with a reporter for the Phoenix New Times newspaper Sunday.

Pastor Steven Anderson and Reporter Stephen Lemons got into the argument following Sunday night services outside Anderson’s Faithful Word Baptist Church near 48th Street and Southern.

Lemons and Anderson argued after the New Times’ reporter began questioning the pastor about his other job, installing commercial fire alarms.

“Are you running a church and business at the same place,” asked Lemons.

“I’m not running a church and business at the same place,” responded Anderson. “You are trying to make up a story. You’re a liar.”

“I don’t operate a business here,” continued Anderson. “I store equipment here.”

I wonder how big the Secret Service dossier is for this guy…

Who Is Next?

A lot of you seem to think the wingnuts are going to be emboldened by Jones stepping down, and I find that curious. They aren’t going to feel emboldened by anything- they have already cranked it up to 11. They aren’t going to feel more energized because they have a scalp- that isn’t how they operate. Chriminy, a month into the administration Malkin was blaming Obama for the stock market- when it went back up, she seemed to lose all interest in it.

I think you fail to realize how these guys think. Nothing makes them feel emboldened or empowered- they had all three branches of government for most of the 2000 era, and they were permanent victims of Ted Kennedy. They got everything they wanted but it was the liberals and the media who were causing the setbacks in Iraq. Feeling emboldened because they got a scalp might seem logical and reasonable, but we are not dealing with rational actors. We are dealing with crazy people. Even if Jones did not step down, they would be behaving the same exact way, BECAUSE THEY ARE CRAZY PEOPLE.

Besides, the next week or two, they will all be distracted by something else. Michael Moore’s new movie is coming out. That will be the next feeding frenzy.

Also, Michael Moore is fat.

Closing the Barn Door After the Cows Have Gone

Friday, September 4th, 2009

I really respect the fact that Henke and now Ruffini are trying to do some push back against the whole birther movement and WND, but at the same time, all I can think is “Way to get out in front of things!” The birther thing has been going on for what? A year? A year and a half? Two years? We’ve had repeated posts here about the WingNut Daily billboard project from as far back as May. This isn’t a new phenomenon, and even Chris Matthews and the media have been mocking the birthers for months.

If Ruffini and Henke are serious about cleaning up the GOP, how about they take a real stand- say something about this:

redefiningpatriotismonefauxtrageatatime

It boggles my mind that the President talking to schoolkids telling them to set goals and study hard could be controversial. As Steve Benen noted, even Joe Scarborough is wondering where the responsible Republicans are. Sadly, the answer is that there don’t seem to be any.

An Idea

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

If all the wingnuts are pulling their kids out of school because the President is going to speak for fifteen minutes, can we teach evolution the rest of the day?

Seriously, I think it is great Jon Henke is waging his own “jihad” against WND and I support him 100%, but if he just thinks it is Joseph Farah, he is sadly, sadly, mistaken. Go read Malkin. Go read Andrew McCarthy and the rest of the NRO clowns, go read the Free Republic, go read CPAC’s blog of the year wailing about Obama in Muslim garb, go read Sarah Palin kvetching about death panels.

Your problem isn’t just WND- as the RNC is happy to prove. The entire party has been taken over by crazy people.

Not that some people haven’t been warning about this for several years or anything.

The Horror Of It All

ohnotheymentionedhislifesworkathisfuneral

Someone get the smelling salts for the wingnuts, because Ted Kennedy’s life’s work was mentioned at his funeral. How dare they?

If these idiots had been around then, they probably would have been outraged that the cause of civil rights was mentioned during MLK’s funeral.

Are You On the Dial, Are You Tuned In Right

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Where did you go Mr. D.J.?
Did they take you off the air?
Was it something that you said to the corporation guys upstairs?
It wasn’t the pressure,
You never sounded down.
It couldn’t be the ratings,
You had the best in town.

Beck and Fox lose another:

The Clorox Co., a former Beck advertiser, now says that “we do not want to be associated with inflammatory speech used by either liberal or conservative talk show hosts.” The maker of bleach and household cleaners said in a statement that it has decided not to advertise on political talk shows.

The shows present a dilemma for advertisers, who usually like a “safe” environment for their messages. The Olbermanns, Hannitys, O’Reillys, Maddows and Becks of the TV world are more likely to say something that will anger a viewer, who might take it out on sponsors.

They also host the most-watched programs on their networks.

“This is a good illustration of that conundrum,” said Rich Hallabran, spokesman for UPS Stores, which he said has temporarily halted buying ads on Fox News Channel as a whole.

Imagine that! Corporate America doesn’t want to be associated with unhinged lunatics. Shocking, I know.

How long before we see Glenn Beck and Joe the Plumber co-hosting a show PJTV?
