This Makes The Pain Sting Less

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Yes, losing to the Bengals twice in a season sucks, but at least my team can score against the Browns. Not being able to score against the Browns is like not being able to score with Jenna Jameson.

For chrissakes JSF, Flocco power is vastly overrated.

Also, I like Gruden as an announcer.

*** Update ***

Just checked memeorandum. They claim that a new poll states she is not qualified to be President. Glad shit didn’t change too much while I was eating a white pizza.

Seriously, when is this Palin bullshit going to stop? You know who else isn’t prepared to be President? Pauly Shore. How come there are no polls about him?

While the cat’s away….

Jon Gruden drives me nuts. You wanna talk about a guy who yells too much? You wanna talk about a guy who thinks he’s being edgy when he says the obvious? You wanna talk about a guy who can flat annoy me?

Then again, the only football announcer I ever liked was Pat Summerall.

Update. Who is more annoying, the long-haired UPS white board guy or the faux-Native American IBM “smarter grid” guy?

Well, That Sucked

Bengals 18, Steelers 12. They beat us at home more definitively than they beat us at their place, swept the series for the season, and you just can’t come to any conclusion other than that the Bengals are the better team this year.

Steelers v. Bengals

Should be a good game, and JenJen and I have a friendly wager.

Lily is rocking her game day collar, Tunch is having a pre-game meal, I’ve got the new Heath Miller jersey on and the terrible Towel out, and I didn’t want to cook so I’ve got some gut bomb wings en route.

Looking forward to this one today. Go Steelers!

Why is Frank Luntz on the CBS pregame show?

All I had to do was put the towel down, and he knew what to do. I’ve had that towel since the late 80’s, I think.

I will say it again- I used to hate Gruden as a coach, but hands down, he is the best football color guy out there. This MNF crew is as good as the old Vern Lundquist/TNT crew from the early 90’s.

Sorry, BYE weekend for the Steelers and I forgot to put up a thread for you kids.

Steelers v. Vikings

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

This should be a good game. I have a fresh batch of homemade salsa, some taco meat simmering, and a 12 pack of diet root beer. Hampton jersey is on, Lily is rocking her Steelers collar, Tunch is perched on the couch in his game day spot.

It’s business time. GO STEELERS!

I see you all have been left alone and are getting restless. Sorry about that- I watched Monk (Sharona returned!) and then that new show White Collar last night, and just called it a night. I’ve been doing the various Saturday morning chores before gam eday and honestly forgot about the website for a change.

BTW- that new show White Collar is going to be a lot of fun, and once again, it reminded me of how many shows over the years I have really enjoyed from the USA netword:

Monk
Psych
Burn Notice
the Dead Zone
the 4400
Royal Pains
In Plain Sight

And on and on. You can add White Collar to the list. I don’t know if it is just a matter that I’m just the right demographic that USA is shooting for, but I seem to like an awful lot of their programming. Far more quality shows on USA than any other traditional network.

At any rate, I hope your team wins.

Idiot:

According to the Associated Press, Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed was cited by Pittsburgh police for public intoxication and disorderly conduct outside a bar Sunday night.

The episode occurred around 9 p.m., the AP reported, outside a bar a few blocks from Heinz Field, where Reed kicked two field goals as the Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns earlier Sunday.

Can’t we just put James Harrison in charge of driving Reed home from games?

Stillers Halftime Thread

Can someone please explain how that was a first and ten at the end of the half, because it sure as hell looks to me like the Browns got royally screwed there.

And the NFL has to do something about what is and is not a catch. Here on planet earth, if you catch the ball, tuck it in, both knees hit the ground, your ass hits the ground, your back hits the ground, you roll twice while maintaining possession, and then the ball comes out as you are getting up to celebrate three seconds later, it is a catch.

Does anyone know whether Troy will play? These late game comebacks by awful teams give me heartburn.

***Update***

Cleveland should sue the NFL for whatever a field goal is worth in dollars, and settle out of court if they can give the ref who gave Pittsburgh that first down a swirlie. Complete bullshit.

***Update 2***

Let’s clarify what just happened. Cleveland intercepted the ball and then a few plays later lost the ball to a fumble. Then Pittsburgh fumbled, and then Cleveland fumbled and then Pittsburgh fumbled the ball again. Cleveland has it for now.

***Update 3***

Cleveland stadium just cued up Renegade. In case you follow such things.

NFL = No Football for Limbaugh

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

It is going to be awesome listening to Rush and company launch the inevitable attack on the NFL:

Rush Limbaugh is expected to be dropped from a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams, according to three NFL sources.

Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners, the sources said.

Three-quarters of the league’s 32 owners would have to approve any sale to Limbaugh and his group. Earlier this week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay predicted that Limbaugh’s potential bid would be met by significant opposition. Several players have also voiced their displeasure with Limbaugh’s potential ownership position, and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, who is black, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh’s bid.

Should be great fun learning how the sport that dominates the country is un-American.

Pittsburgh will probably go on playing down to its competition, just like they did last year. I hope that Lily has some defibrillator training.
