Apparently Schumer has called for Nunes to be removed from the investigation committee. Nunes needs to be investigated himself, but that would be a good start.

If she’s trump’s handler, she’s going about it very strangely. Don’t handlers normally want to stay close to the person they’re handling, rather than doing their best to stay in a different state?
Yes.. is the Post implying Melina Trump literally pumped Nuns for the information? The thing is, the Trump admin is that messed in the head Trump pimping out his wife or his daughter isn’t out of the question.

Republicans were successful in forcing Attorney General Loretta Lynn to recuse herself from an investigation involving Secretary Clinton because of a few minutes of innocent chit chat she had with President Bill Clinton. Democrats need to do the same with Nunes over his decision to reveal information relating to the Russian investigation to the White House in blatant disregard for protocol. No way should he still be chairing such an important investigation.
Lololol, the headline at Drudge today (I check to see what they’re up to) is just “NEW WEEK”

@Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (Formerly Mumphrey, et al.): This is a good question. He’s a rancher/farmer with three ag science degrees from the Fresno area. His wine distributor in Russia is both tied to the Bratva and to Putin. Apparently he lobbied leadership to get on the committee and then pestered Ryan to make him chair. Penetration at all levels.
@Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (Formerly Mumphrey, et al.):
If it weren’t that Trump is shredding our international agreements, and that will hurt a great number of people, I would say we’d actually be better off with Trump than if he were impeached and we got Pence. Pence is dumb, but he’s not ‘shit his pants’ dumb like Trump. They want to do similar kinds of damage, and Pence would sabotage himself less.
I can honestly say that in my professional opinion each of his explanations make less sense than the previous ones. I’ve been an authorized classified information courier as part of my job, the argument that this could only be viewed at (one of) the White House SCIFs, but that the White House can’t account for him being on the grounds is exceedingly irregular and doesn’t pass the laugh test.
It’s an absolutely amazing thing that the GOP has done to itself. There has been a self selection process that has been going on for years.Smarter/non racist people have self selected out of the GOP. The GOP runs/send people to congress who are for the most part dumber than rocks. Obama being President protected them from themselves for the past 8 years. The GOP voters pick a moran for President. It appears that there are no people left in the GOP who actually know how to do anything in the way of running the country. If they still exist they will be told to shut up and go away. God bless their little hearts!
@TaMara (HFG): @Major Major Major Major: The headlines and stories are about Nunes meeting a source at the White House he won’t disclose. Next to a picture of the President. Cole is implying that WaPo is implying that the President was the source.
@Adam L Silverman: I dunno, news sites change layout all throughout the day, we aren’t talking about a physical newspaper where it’s a major editorial decision.
But whatever it is, it sure is ‘real subtle’ if a group of people, after being clued in that something subtle is going on, can’t figure it out. It might even be so subtle that it’s illusory.
ETA: Although applying the same logic they’re clearly trying to say that Barron Trump is pretending to be black.
In his first address to Congress on February 28, President Trump promised to send “a budget that rebuilds the military, eliminates the Defense [Department budget] sequester, and calls for one of the largest increases in national defense spending in American history.” Later, in Newport News aboard the Navy’s newest supercarrier, the U.S.S. Gerald Ford, he also promised that “we will have the finest equipment in the world.” These are worthy and overdue objectives; unfortunately, his proposed $603 billion defense budget will not go far enough toward achieving them.
Chill dude, after eleventy tax cuts we’ll be able to afford all the militaries.

Am I missing something? WaPo prints a headline stating Nunes admits meeting his unnamed source on White House grounds right next to a picture of Trump and Lesser Trumps walking on the White House lawn. Hardly subtle.
They – could – have just said he met his source at the White House, but whoever wrote the headline was aiming for cute by putting it next to that picture.
Clearly, they’re implying young Baron von Trump is the guilty party.

@Adam L Silverman:
Agreed.
No one gets on the grounds without numerous people knowing about it. That alone makes it bullshit.
Both Trump and his kid Barron exhibit some kind of affect disorder.
Look the the pictures of them both at the inauguration as well as afterwards and their expressions never, ever match what they ought to be showing. It’s as if they simply just don’t know what they should be feeling and in Barron it displays as bewilderment and in Trump it just seems to make him constantly angry.
Democrats need to do the same with Nunes over his decision to reveal information relating to the Russian investigation to the White House in blatant disregard for protocol. No way should he still be chairing such an important investigation.
The Republicans are in the majority, and note that they are doing everything they can to provide cover for Trump and, indirectly, for Nunes.
Also, Trump supporters are suckers. They still believe that Trump is going to lead them to the promised land.
Lastly, I still say that the Republicans cynically believe that Koch Brothers money and gerrymandering provides them with some immunity. But you got to wonder, where will the Koch Brothers and the other plutocrats go if Trump and Ryan continue to be so inept?
@Attapooch: bewilderment was actually pretty appropriate.

One of the other headlines on that page was ZEGS pledge to continue working to repeal Obamacare. I guess his definition of how a democracy works is different than mine. The doctors, the hospitals, the ins. companies, big Pharama, AARP, and millions of ordinary citizens said leave Obamacare alone. Three million more voters picked Hillary who promised to leave Obamacare alone (well improve on it actually). White Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Black New Yorker Is Charged With Terrorism
“James Jackson prowled the streets of New York for three days in search of a black person to assassinate,” the D.A. says. When Jackson turned himself in, about 24 hours later, police said, he told officers he came to New York from Baltimore “for the purpose of killing black men.”

@Corner Stone: My sisters been calling Melanoma the Russian agent for several months.
Roger W. Wilkins, a ranking Justice Department official during the 1960s who later composed Pulitzer Prize-winning editorials about the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post and wrote unsparingly about the conflicts and burdens he experienced as a black man in positions of influence, died March 26 at a nursing home in Kensington, Md. He was 85.
The cause was complications from dementia, said his daughter Elizabeth Wilkins.
In a career that traversed law, journalism and education, Mr. Wilkins made matters of race and poverty central to his work as an assistant attorney general in the Johnson administration and later as one of the first black editorial board members at The Post and the New York Times.
By kinship or friendship, he was linked to many black leaders of the civil rights era. Roy Wilkins, who led the NAACP from 1955 to 1977, was an uncle. In law school, Roger Wilkins was an intern for Thurgood Marshall, then director-counsel of the NAACP’s Legal Defense and Educational Fund and later a U.S. Supreme Court justice.
From a young age, he once wrote, he was compelled to spend his life “blasting through doors that white people didn’t want to open.”
You’ve got it right, I think. Cole is using “real subtle” in a good way this time. The main story on the newspaper page is a straight news story, and Cole’s “Heh” link goes to the accompanying analysis story, which is a huge smoking gun:

The only thing that’s obvious from this WaPo front page is that it is quite clear Melania is the WH source Nunes met with to review the information in the SCIF.

I absolutely agree. And that’s why she’s not underfoot or caught up in all sorts of crazy shenanigans: she’s too valuable. She’s going to try and stay out of danger.
In some ways I’m kind of rooting for her. Talk about a high score! And she’d be a very capable and smart lady if this is the truth about her. Not that it’s easy to forgive her helping to GET Trump into the damn job… but now the task is to undermine the ‘victorious Republican Party’ at every turn, and to make sure Trump isn’t effective. It’s not like the Trump-kin are meant to become powerful, oh fuck no.

I just wish this WH could finally get past all this Russia nonsense. It is doing real damage to Ivanka’s initiatives to move forward on rolling out important policies that will benefit moms, and working women. I think once we can finally put the slander about Russian involvement or Trump team ties to Russian agents, the sooner a lot of very deserving and in need women can start to feel the power of Ivanka’s insider advocacy, and women’s issues can rise to the forefront of this admin.
Maybe this is the issue Democrats can work with the POTUS on? All of the very passionate women’s interests Ivanka has been vocally championing for the last decade or so. She has been an incredibly softening force for equality and pro-women policies so far, I would just like to see her have her full measure of chance to finally enact all the things she has been in the trenches about for all these years.

And from there, it’s not a stretch to question the impartiality of the investigation Nunes is leading in the House on Russia meddling in the U.S. election.”
Maybe the point is that Nunes panicked. Because Tr is in deep, and because he’s been set up to obstruct, knowingly or not. And he didn’t know what the fuck to do.

@lollipopguild: They’ve also selected against people who have the ability to read or write legislation or negotiate compromise. They only have to to be the face on a campaign that’s funded and dictated by professional horseracers, and then agree to legislation that lands on their desk from outside.

Roger Wilkins, civil rights champion in government and journalism, dies at 85
By Adam Bernstein March 27 at 4:30 PM

And he didn’t know what the fuck to do.
piratedan
@Frankensteinbeck: to be honest, I want Pence’s scalp too.. he’s sat in on all of this shit from the campaign through the transition. He’s in an incremental way, he’s probably less like to Nuke North Korea for the hell of it.. so there’s that, but he’s just as likely to make A Handmaid’s Tale a model for our society.
