Pens won, Eers won, so everything is good until the Steelers meet the Colts tomorrow.
I’m watching the following:
Watch live video from Raptr on Twitch
Really excited that Dragon Age: Inquisitions is going to be a lot more turn based like the original. I hated the console feel of the second.
Think I am going to catch the second episode of Peaky Blinders on Netflix and then watch SNL, which is new tonight. You?
Omnes Omnibus
You are going voluntarily submit yourself to Iggy Azalea? Why?

Four – four tie in game four in the World Series. Lagunitas Censored Ale.

Seahacks first half up against Chelsea-Man U on TV tomorrow. Will probably watch football and switch over to handegg later.
And did I mention the Sounders won the Supporters’ Shield?

This is all fine, Cole. But virus don’t have souls. They aren’t even alive. They are fucking terminators. At least bacteria are alive. Goddamnit.

Watching the World Series and reading about the DSLR I ordered last night, and trying to find a photography course closer to home so I don’t have to drive into Atlanta or Athens.
For now, I’m still in the house with Iggy. His confinement ends next Saturday evening — he and I both will be very happy about this because this is getting old. But then I think, we’ve got a week left, he’s doing well, and I’m getting confident that he’ll get through this. And I think about how scared I was a few weeks ago. And my eyes get a bit watery.
Tenar Darell
@Karen in GA: I’m sorry you didn’t make it into the finalists. I was voting and rooting for Iggy. Glad to hear it’s only another week. Yay!
Karen in GA
@Tenar Darell: Thanks! I’m not unhappy about it. I still have Iggy. He doesn’t get a half-shaved poodle as a consolation prize so he’s not thrilled, but he’ll get over it.
JCJ
@Omnes Omnibus:
I see what you did there.

Watching an earlier recording of The Graham Norton Show, with Robert Duvall, Robert Downey Jr, Stephen Fry and musical guest U2. Robert Duvall is adorable and Stephen Fry is way cool. RDJ is his usual self, and U2 good, but Bono seemed to be straining a bit.
Afterwards. I guess I’ll maybe whatever else is on my DVR.
So I rarely try to predict election, but I’ve just gotten back from bringing my nephew home from the movies, and on my way back to my apartment, I was listening to the radio and a campaign commercial came on for Mary Landrieu and the Dem ticket here in Louisiana. Who was the announcer? Stevie Wonder! I was like well dang, Landrieu and the Dems are going all out now.
A little over 2 weeks ago, she was dancing at the HBCU, Southern University’s tailgating party. Now we got radio commercials on the R&B stations with Stevie Wonder! Mary certainly knows her audience.
So my one and only election prediction: Mary Landrieu pulls this one through and beats Bill Cassidy.
We’ll find out if I’m right on Nov 4th, but I won’t be listening or watching, I’ll be trying my best to ignore everything on my vay kay in Hawaii

@efgoldman:
Just watched that same game. I’m not even an SEC fan and I thought that was a great game. Not sure I understand Ole Miss’s final play.

BTW John, I missed the latest BJ Ebola thread. As you can imagine, I’m a bit Ebola-ed out.
Man, as a Microbiologist, all this Ebola bidness has shown me just how much people really like to live in a world of paranoia and panic. I mean even when confronted with the facts as they are some folk really rather sit around and act like they in some damn Resident Evil type zombie movie. I ain’t even trying to correct folk no more, I’ma just let them live in ignorant crazy town since they seem to like it anyway.
I’m gonna try my best for the next week, to ignore as much bad and frustrating as possible and get even more psyched for my trip….6 DAYS TO GO!! Woo hoo

Too many things to say. Ain’t gonna play.

@lamh36: Landrieu is a smart politician and, sadly, about as liberal as your state is willing to go.
Bonnie
@efgoldman: Agree that this was a thriller; but, I can thoroughly enjoy a 45-42 game, too.
JCJ
@efgoldman:
I think you are right. The kicker might not be very good, but I think that a FG attempt had a better chance than that last play. If they had tried to just get closer for a more makable kick I would have understood that completely.

@efgoldman
Still iffy in some spots. Friend lives so far out in the boonies (in the rain forest) that there is no cable TV and the only internet connection he can get varies on download speed (depending on how many neighbors are using it) from 0.5 to an occasional peak of 2 MB/second, which is three-legged tortoise slow, and he has no line of sight to get satellite service.
lamh36
@efgoldman: I’m gonna try to “unplug” and not watch. I plan to bring my IPad only and NOT my laptop
BTW, the interview segment on GNS with U2 was awesome. The U2 guys are really cool. They talked about the free album on Itunes, and like me thought it was funny that people were genuinely upset because they got a FREE album and people hated getting a free CD? Also too Norton asked Bono when did he start wearing the sunglasses, and basically asked him why, and Bono told him that he was diagnosed with glaucoma 20 years ago and so the sunglasses are for his poor eyes.
I never knew that, did anyone else? Oh and the symbol on Itunes for “Artist” in music libraries, etc, is a silohuette of Bono?

I’ll clutch my pearls for a bit until I get sleepy, then I’ll be setting up for my big Sunday: a li’l NFL from London in the AM followed by GOTV phone calls (8 more shifts to go, beeyotches) then I’ll catch the Iggles game, after which I’ll set up the ol’ VCR (yes!) to record The Good Wife while I’m at the movie theater taking in The Walking Dead with about 200 of my closest strangers.

We’re both collapsed on the couch after yet another long day of moving. We can (finally) see the light at the end of the tunnel, though, and the cleaning ladies did a great job of emptying the rooms that needed cleaning most.
The rule for tomorrow is No Alarm Clock. We’ve had to get up early every goddamned morning this week, and we need to be able to sleep in so we don’t go fucking insane.

@efgoldman: I was happy my Tigers pulled it out. Doing some family related stuff with the parents in town, and as much of a tech geek as I am and even though all the TV commercials seem to highlight men will watch a game on their phone anywhere, I am not one of those guys.
So a few minutes ago when I got my phone out and saw the score I did a little happy dance. Six year old niece joined in. Everybody else thought I was crazy, but that would be nothing new.

Minnesota dropped an anvil on North Dakota today. The 5-0 final score in no way does that game justice. Even the 51-7 final shot total doesn’t quite describe it. The Gophers just treated a top ten team like they were St. Cloud State or something. With ten minutes to go, Amanda Leveille could have had a save percentage of .000 and we’d have been clinging to a 1 goal lead; two of the Whioux’s four shots to that point came from the red line.
Awesome performance after a good one last night in a 5-2 win that was closer than that. Coming after a trip to Madison consisting of a 4-1 win that, again, wasn’t that close and a 2-1 win in which they were behind with two minutes left in regulation, this season is off to a great start. It’s realistic to think that when Wisconsin comes to town on January 10th, they could be 19-0-1.

@Omnes Omnibus: It hasn’t actually been offered yet but I’m pretty sure it will be; the whole thing on their end seems pretty disorganized and I’m pretty sure it’s not going through any normal hiring process (which probably helps me a lot). And I will definitely take it if it’s offered. As an opportunity it just keeps getting better. They will probably cover at least part of my lodging there during the work week. And since a couple of them are going to be traveling from Chicago they’re thinking of going to 4 ten hour days so it might not even interfere with my hockey travels.

Finished w/ all the family stuff and sitting down to watch some Doctor Who and relax. I love my parents and family, but my gosh they can wear me out this time of the year and we’re not even to all the holidays yet.

Jethro Tull was the worst concert I ever saw. Jethro Dull.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): I am truly glad that the employment fairies may have nodded in your favor. Fingers crossed for you.
Tommy
@Steeplejack: Interesting. Jethro Tull isn’t really my “cup of tea” but I’d think they’d at least put on a “good” show.
Steeplejack
@Tommy:
They weren’t really my cup of tea either, and I don’t remember now why I ended up going to the concert, but it was just awful. Ian Anderson did a lot of elfin capering, which was not helpful.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tommy: I am sure it really depends on your tolerance for a 6′ 4″ bearded freak prancing about with a flute. Better that than a Phish concert in my view. And I am punk/ska/alternative guy.
Tommy
@Steeplejack: I’d just think at the least it would be a huge “production” event. Many, many years ago (1991 or 92) I saw Bad Company play, again a band I am not a huge fan of. I don’t dislike them, but not a show I’d normally go to. I was on the floor and I have to admit they played their asses off.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
@Omnes Omnibus: It’s nice to have that whole network of contacts working for me for once. And you’ll be happy to know that the initial discussions took place in a bar in Madison.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): Which bar? I’ll judge you by your answer….
Tommy
@Omnes Omnibus: LOL. The music I know of Jethro Tull, the flute might be the part I like the most :). And as for Phish, and I don’t think I’ve ever said this here, for part of a summer I might have followed this band called the Dead around the midwest in the late 80s. With that said, I am not sure you could pay me to see a Phish show. I’ve tried, I’ve tried hard to “learn” to like their music and outside of a few songs it just doesn’t work for me.
One of the main reasons I pay Pandora’s $4.99/month fee is so I have more “skips.” I love their Dead channel, but when Phish comes on I hit “skip” within a few seconds.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
@Omnes Omnibus: I don’t remember which one other than that it’s close to campus and it’s in a basement. It was a big, very open place.
We’d just come from Wando’s (which, I emphasize was absolutely NOT my choice) where the main entertainment was watching two college kids try to pick up the mother of one of the Gopher players.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
@Tommy: I’m a prog rock guy and even I don’t like very much Jethro Tull.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): The Corral Bar under the Tornado?* Just off the square? If so, it’s a cool bar. The folks from Garbage have been known to hang out there when they are in town.
*Just trying to think of basement bars in the area.
Tommy
@Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN): Oh I hear you about “prog rock.” I can’t count the times I’ve had people over (often in their mid-20s) and they are liked OMG what is this music? Often I say it is Eric Burton and War. Or I have some Cream on and people don’t realize Clapton played for them. I am not an expert on Britsh rock by any means, but for a nation that size they sure created some music that I think stands up today.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tommy: My god. What kind of Delt are you? We are musically edgy. Punk and funk in my day. Your specifics may be different but damn… Try not to embarrass us.
Tommy
OK Doctor Who, I just have to say this. You can’t have Clara’s love interest have a name like Mr. Pink. I can’t be the only person that every time I hear Clara say it thinks of Steve Buscemi’s character on Reservoir Dogs. It is offputting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W5KhfJHF_4
Tommy
@Omnes Omnibus: LOL. My musical tastes are far ranging. You mentioned Garbage, I know them well. That would be a live show I’d like to see, maybe Hole could open for them. Now I am not totally hip on “new” music, but like to think my collection of music would stand up to most. You could easily, if I put iTunes on shuffle, go from Bach, to Cash, to Circle Jerks, to Seal, (the last few songs I heard on my last run) to who knows what.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
@Omnes Omnibus: I don’t think that was the one.
Tissue Thin Pseudonym (JMN)
Ah. I think it was The City Bar.

@Bob In Portland: Bob. I really think that you mean well and that you are viscerally opposed to fascism. I just think that you may have picked the wrong fight. Russia v. the Ukraine isn’t it. Sorry.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tommy: Way to miss my point. When you post comments about how there are problems with black culture, it reflects on me. And so on….
Tommy
@Omnes Omnibus: Nope I got your point exactly and couldn’t believe you were making it. That somehow being a Delt, cause I was one, means if I say this or that it reflects on you in any way is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Omnes Omnibus
@Tommy: Okay, nothing you said during the oaths made a difference? Got it. Your casual racism and sexism is something for which I should no longer make any allowances. Because, dude, you have made so many casually antisemitic otherwise racist comments that you embarrass me.
