I’ve never heard “on his jock” before.
Just Some Fuckhead
Isn’t Charlie Rose a totebagging fool? What’s not to love?
Baud
Ha. My comment in the previous thread.
Emma
Aren’t the Snowden supporters claiming that it’s not the messenger, it’s the message?
Baud
Obama should have put up a diary on kos instead. ;-)
David Koch
This is the final straw. Primary Obummer in 2016!

This is all that needs to be said, and pondered regarding your skewed perspective, Little Doug.

@Baud: Do we now have to cut and paste all our witty Charlie Rose related badinage onto this thread to be appropriately topical?
@ Doug Milhous J:
Totebaggers. obvs.

Rose is an older, well off, white guy who likes to complain a lot and you are curious as to the “true progressive’s” crush on him?

I’ve decided to retire my old material.

I’ve always hated watching Presidents speak, but this would make me sick.
Doug, sooner or later, you’re going to realize he’s your “liberal” friends guy and not your guy.

If the next President is Hilary Clinton, then I’m guessing you’ll be greatly disappointed DougJ

Much to the chagrin of our resident PUMAs, I’ve little doubt that Hill will find a way to muck up Inevitability Part 2: Electric Boogaloo.

@a hip hop artist from Idaho (fka Bella Q): Fuck if I know. Ask him.
Suffern ACE
Well I guess if he could only pick shows that were skeptical of the war in real time, he could ask that someone rehire Donohue. I think that might be the only one.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
I heard a lot about CHarlie Rose, about the great, long-form, serious discussions he had. I tried to watch a few times and he’s pretty much like Tweety without the hyperactivity: Long rambling questions, stepping on his guests attempts to answer.
That said, I don’t know where I’d want Obama to go for a TeeVee interview. Martha Raddatz?
Anne Laurie
@David Koch:
You know, as long as you can’t refer to President Obama without “snark” like this, I’ve got to assume you’re a Repub plant.
The open question is whether you’re paid to spam us, or if your GOP masters are aware you’ll keep doing it for free.
Cacti
@Ted & Hellen:
Shouldn’t you be out patrolling the streets for dangerous black bucks with Skittles?

Charley Rose is every Big Pharma’s worst nightmare. No market for sleep aids when he’s on the air.
I have no brief for interviewers who think they are the star of their show. Nuff said.
David Koch
@Anne Laurie: keep fucking that chicken.

@Gin & Tonic: Somewhere ‘on his jock’ and ‘choke out with a strap on’ are going to intersect. It’s inevitable. I don’t want to be around when it happens.

@Tom Levenson: If I have something I’m compelled to reveal, but would rather keep secret, I’ll ring up Charlie Rose’s people.

Looking forward to hearing Obama’s take on the Snowden info dump and would watch it even if it were on Fox. I’m conflicted about the NSA issue. For once, the truth might actually reside in the middle of the two poles. It has to happen occasionally, right?
Cacti
@David Koch:
It was such a bummer for AL when Rep. Nadler disavowed the breathless reports of the LaRouchies and Paultards.
The “inadequate black man” must have gotten to him.
Suffern ACE
@Tom Levenson: the problem is that is pretty much every show now. Could you imagine Tweety or Andersen or Wolf Blitzer handing the interview over to someone who might have spent the afternoon learning about the structure of the security agencies? He might be better off on Dr. Drew.
pokeyblow
@efgoldman: I don’t disagree with your sentiment, but it’s sad that you’re so predictable, just sticking your hand up for attention all the time.
pokeyblow
@Suffern ACE: Wolf Blitzer? I’d hardly categorize him as informed.
I’m sorry, but Obama is on Tom Rose because of the late schedule, and the accommodating atmosphere.
Howard Beale IV
The sooner a Dem Prez candidate distances himself from Obama’s policies (NSA reauth, Holder/Breuer not prosecuting the control fraud perps, etc ) the better.
Shame that candidate Obama != President Obama.
Baud
@Howard Beale IV:
candidate [anyone] != President [anyone]

@pokeyblow: I’d suggest that you reread the comment you are criticizing.

@Cacti: Nadler’s backatrack isn’t what you think it is; rather it’s acqiescing to what the Adminsitration said.
IOW, he isn’t willing to put his ass on the line and call out Clapper as a perjurer.

@Omnes Omnibus: Thank, and apologies to Suffern ACE.
I’m old-school, and think an afternoon’s commitment to some complicated issue isn’t remarkable.
Suffern ACE
@pokeyblow: Blitzer wouldn’t even give you the afternoon.

Here again we see the classic Botsplainer’s misdirection/racist maneuver. When frustrated by an opponent’s temerity in making a comment unaligned with its own thinking, the Botsplainer spews in all directions, hoping something, anything will stick.
pokeyblow
@Cacti: Sorry. Charlie Rose. Not to garner sympathy, but an old friend named Tom committed suicide a week ago. My emotion is 70% anger, 20% whatever, 10% sorrow (I think), but his name is on my mind.
Howard Beale IV
@Baud:
True: but you’d think we’d be smart enough to realize that; but the only reason why Obama got elected for 2012 was that Romney was (1) orders of magnitude worse than Obama and (2) no credible third party like those that exists in other (albeit Pralimenterian) representative democracies.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Perot went batshit crazy in 1992, maybe a true third party could have emerged. But it didn’t and we’re stuck with the consequences of what happened at that time-and we’re paying dearly for that.

We were close 30 years ago, and talked intermittently since then. So I won’t claim to be in the immediate “blast zone.” But it sucks.

Why is is that when real journalism is commited it’s ignored?

The two most liberal presidents in history got us into an undeclared war with Germany and interned Japanese Americans and the other got us into Vietnam.
And you’re pissed about Charlie Rose?
Ted & Hellen
@Cacti:
Here we see the Botsplainer attempting to…well, we’ve seen this many, many times before so let’s just behold and ponder its sad descent to depravity; allowing its wretched condition to speak for itself…
Hawes
@Howard Beale IV: Third parties will never emerge in a First-Past-The-Post single member district elections. Give it up. It’s an impossibility.
Suffern ACE
@Howard Beale IV: I have no idea where that push will come from. It would appear that there is a bunch of warmongers in their enclaves in Washington and New York who don’t quite get that we’ve almost moved on from 9/11, that they’ve gone far enough, and we don’t want another Mideast war of any sort. Even if its only some no fly zone. They form kind of a fifth column and are in both parties.
But getting rid of them is going to require money and time that we don’t have.
beliebert
@lamh35: I think most of the Obama haters on the left are Clintonista’s. That in and of itself totally discredits them because if they think Obama is towing the company line too much then they are in for a real shocker if Hillary ever gets in. The same Hillary that voted for the Iraq war and has sided with neocons on several other occasions.
NonyNony
@Howard Beale IV:
A true third party built as a cult of personality revolving around H. Ross Perot. Who didn’t “go batshit crazy” in ’92 to trash his candidacy so much as “revealed to the world that he was already batshit crazy” in ’92 to trash his candidacy.

Boots on the ground in Europe would have been a substantially trickier proposition for Roosevelt had Hitler not thrown the door wide open for him, in the hope that Japan would renege on their non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union.

@Anne Laurie: wrong again
David Koch
@Hawes: so true. roosevelt began constructing the atomic bomb (in secret!!) on October 9th, 1941, two months before pearl harbor.
roosevelt also began supplying China with arms in 1938.
in 38 roosevelt began a giant rearmament prgam, years before pearl.
Normon Thomas and the socialist party denounced roosevelt in 38 as warmonger and claimed his actions were a march towards fascism. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Doug, dont be a dumbass. Obama has made his whole career on convincing toyebaggers that hes serious and accepting their checks. He’s making a direct play to the only persuadables among those paying attention to this issue. If he can win the manhattan cocjtail party set then even the liberal NYT will declare snoopgate jokesauce and 2014 will be saved.

As in a “if the next Dem President is Hillary Clinton, this particular hope will be dashed” sort of disappointment.

Who would have been better then obummer?
Warren? Warren supported TARP. Warren supports drones, bombing Iran, and FISA.
Sanders? Bernie has been in congress for 22 years and has never passed a single bill. not one. Just three weeks ago Sanders tried to pass a bill on GMO labeling, it lost 71-27, wthe Warren (shocking!) voting against transparency. And when it comes to guns, Bernie voted against over the counter background checks and voted to immunize gun manufacturers from all lawsuits.
Feingold? He voted for Rumsfeld, Roberts, and Ashcroft. He even said he supported Bush’s warrantless wiretap pgm if he went to FISA. And can’t even win his home state.

@Anne Laurie:
Honest question: do you read the comments on this blog? Because this poster has been around since the Koch’s were exposed (hence the moniker) and has proven since to be if not as far from a Republican troll as you can get, still a LOT farther away than other posters you could accuse. And this isn’t the first time you’ve accused them of this. And you never responded to the debunking of the Nadler story yourself yesterday.
But you know, if you want to go after David Koch after you accused ABL of going all black list on Corner Stone for putting him in a time out for being racist, (when she had a relative who was blacklisted, by the way) you go right ahead. That’s your mistake to make.
