Via commentor Johannes, another plea from Suprina:
This is Sunshine- she is a 11 month old spayed female, HIV/Leuk Neg, has all shots and in very good health.
This is her story- I found Sunshine in the dumpster near my art studio. She was searching for food and was pregnant.
Over the weekend she gave birth in a trash compactor. Someone opened the trash compactor to find her with her hours old kittens. She bolted, and the person left the box her kittens were in on the loading dock hoping she would come back for them….and she did. She lived under a building, flea infested, garbage, dark…but at least warm and dry. And raised her 2 babies.
I fed her everyday under the loading dock and 8 weeks after she gave birth she brought the kittens up to feed. Thats when I trapped her and her family. The kittens have a great home now, but poor Sunshine is still living in 1 room of our home.
I have 3 cats and a dog- she doesnt seem to be fond of dogs but may be ok with another cat. The best home for her would be a quiet home, with someone home a lot.
She suffered living on the streets, and from the way she behaves I believe she was someones cat. She uses the litter box loyally, LOVES TO BE PETTED AND BRUSHED. But needs special attention as she gets spooked easily. She is extremely loving…
I have Suprina’s phone number and email address. If you are interested in Sunshine, or have a lead to someone who might be, leave a message here or contact me at AnneLaurie (at) Verizon.net — click on my name in the righthand column “Contact” list — and I’ll put you in touch.
My personal guess would be that young Sunshine escaped from her original home when she first, as they say, “came into season”, and then couldn’t find her way back. Not the first teenager mother to discover that life on the wild side is a lot more fun to contemplate than it is to live!

… want …
She is utterly gorgeous. We must have a lot of NY and NJ readers. Surely someone can take her in?

Sweet girl. Praying for you.

Best of luck. We’ve got two fosters that have already been kicked back from a potential home. We’ve had them for close to a year now.
Again, best of luck. Hope the post here helps.

What a beautiful kitty. Wish I wasn’t 3,000 miles away. I have saved a kitty who got pregnant 3 times before I could capture her and get her spayed.

Anne, If you don’t hear anything tonight, maybe you can front post it again tomorrow morning. She is precious.
Johannes
Anne Laurie, thank you! Folks, feel free to forward/repost widely!

Oh my god, that face in the first photo!
Two cats and a dog here, so not a good match, but I second the request to front page this again as a morning post.

Pretty girl! I’m on the opposite coast with a full house already, though. :-(
Kristine
Facebooked and Tweeted. I hope someone comes forward and gives her a home.

Also, that nose and those ears make me suspect she’s got a chunk of Siamese in her. I love chatty kitties.

I have a momma kitty who stayed with me after the kitties were adopted. Just the most loving thing…and she holds onto that mothering instinct, always looking out after me. So I highly recommend a momma kitty if anyone is tempted to adopt her.

Oh, I hate that I can’t take her, being in the same city and all, but I already have a cat in an apartment that doesn’t actually allow cats. Every time I think the super might come I already have to get the one cat into the closet as it is. But I hate that I can’t help.
La Caterina (Mrs. Johannes)
@Laura C: Hiding the forbidden cat from the super actually makes it easier for the landlord to evict you if they so choose. However, if you keep a pet in an “open and notorious” manner in NYC and the landlord’s employees see it, the pet is basically grandfathered in after 60 or 90 days IIRC from my housing court days.
At any rate, i’ve never heard of an NYC (especially Manhattan!) tenant losing their apt. in housing court because of JUST ONE cat. So not to worry.
You can help by spreading the word to other NYers. Also, too thanks Kristine for FB/tweeting.

She looks like a real love…
I’m not far, just Upstate, and I’d take her in a heartbeat except my other two rescue cats are territorial terrorists.
