Hey, this is Paddy from the Political Carnival. My brother and his wife in Ohio work with a group callled Muttly Crue saving dogs, specializing in Pit Bulls. Wiley is six months old and saved from the Cleveland Kennel 24 hours before he was to be put down for no other reason than he was abandoned and he was a pit bull. They have two other smaller dogs and two pits that Wiley (aka Frodo) gets along marvelously with. He was just neutered today, is up on shots, crate trained, house broken and micro chipped. Love to cuddle and LOVES to play. I’d take him in a heart beat but I’m just not up to the work a young dog demands. Bro said he’d be willing to drive as far as my home (5 hours away) to get Wiley to his forever home, so if you’re within a 5 hour radius of southeast Cleveland, give this love muffin a gander.
If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, contact me at AnneLaurie @ verizon.net (or click on my name in the Contact list to the right) and I’ll pass you message along.
Comrade Baron Elmo
What a beautiful dog… sigh. I’d love to take him, but I’ve got two already skittish cats. Hope someone can step up to the plate for this fella.
Comrade Mary
OMG, a pink and orange dog with a green collar? Who could resist this?
Mnemosyne
Wow, now that’s a face! But, sadly, I’m a thousand miles away from Cleveland and we already feel overrun and outnumbered with three cats in the house.
WereBear
WHAT A FACE!
Dang, this one should go fast. Wiley. I love it.
Blessings on you, little one. May your luck continue holding.
Violet
He’s adorable! I hope he finds his forever home soon. He looks like he’d be tons of fun.
Amir Khalid
Oh, he’s a handsome and cheerful boy. Who could resist that smile?
Keith G
Puuuupeh! Hello Gorgeous.
ruemara
Oh. My. Bob. I would adopt that bubba in a heart beat. What a face! Someone, come adopt this wonderful dog.
Litlebritdifrnt
If I thought for a nano second that Cueball would accept another male dog in the house I would be all over Wiley. That face is just priceless.
schrodinger's cat
Not dog related but putting it here for the lack of an open thread. Hubcat’s father had a massive heart attack, he is still in a critical condition in the ICU, his heart is still not pumping enough blood. He is 70.
mark
open thread coming?
opened thread cumming?
Paddy
Thanks so much Anne Laurie, Wiley deserves a good home!
Raven
Be good if someone who knows what they are doing could adopt that sweet pup.
Bnut
You want a cute face? This is the dog my sister is fostering atm. Can’t believe there have been no takers so far.
Southern Beale
Awwww! Wiley is a brown version of my Riley! Riley looks just like him, only black and white. Wish I had room for a fourth dog, but 3 plus 7 cats means we’re full-up ..
Litlebritdifrnt
@schrodinger’s cat:
Hubcat’s father? Please enlighten.
khead
That is one beautiful dog.
Amir Khalid
@schrodinger’s cat:
So sorry to hear that. Sending good thoughts your way. Hope your father-in-law pulls through.
schrodinger's cat
@Litlebritdifrnt: Husband’s father, father-in-law. My husband is currently in India, for a two week visit. As luck would have it, my sister-in-law who is doctor was also in town to visit with her brother.
Litlebritdifrnt
Sorry, this it OT, sorry, this is a GOS link, but WTF

Keep your hands of my body! Really? I mean fucking really? Keep your hands off my body? Where the fuck was he when they were forcing rape victims to experience a second rape with a trans vaginal ultrasound? Really? What. The. Fuck.
Litlebritdifrnt
@schrodinger’s cat:
Gotcha. My healing thoughts go out to him.
schrodinger's cat
@Amir Khalid: Thanks! Apparently he is lucid and talking but his heart is not pumping enough blood, and his kidneys are not functioning despite the angioplasty. I am not a medical doctor neither do I play one on TV so I don’t know what all this means.
yutsano
PUPPEH!!
@schrodinger’s cat: Pacem a tei.
JWL
I swear, Paddy reminds me of someone I used to know, but I just can’t place it.
schrodinger's cat
@yutsano: Sorry, I don’t understand.
Anya
Mother of all OT – Police surveillance video show Zimmerman without blood, stains or bruises.
kdaug
Ohhh. Site gets better. Very nice tagline placement. The kdaug approves.
Gus
Wow, what a cute pup! Someone will snap this little dude up for sure!
Paddy
@JWL: Lived in Miami (Coconut Grove and the Gables) in the 70’s and 80’s with a 6 year break to go to college in Grand Rapids, Michigan for college and stuff, after that back here to Michiana. Other than late night hot xes phone lines in the early 90’s, that’s pretty much all the ways you might know me.
Litlebritdifrnt
@Anya: Seriously, no blood, no broken nose, no gash on the back of the head, no bruises, NOTHING. So where are all the WRNJ’s now going to say that Zimmerman was the victim?
mark
@Anya:
THIS is exactly what i was begging for an open thread for!!
piratedan
@schrodinger’s cat: hopeful thoughts for a medical solution for your parent-in-law. After my recent experiences have taught me one rule to live by, trite but it doesn’t make it any less valid: plan for the worst, hope for the best.
Anya
@Litlebritdifrnt: Not even dirt on the back of his jacket. Do you think Faux News will show this video? How about Tucker Carlson’s vanity website — would they give it the same prominence they gave to the tweets of a dead 17-year old? I wonder if Drudge would use his famous sirens?
Raven
@mark: What’s the difference what thread it’s in?
handy
@Anya:
My only question is, is this definitively from the night of the shooting? There’s no timestamp on the video, and what we assume is Zimmerman doesn’t match appearance-wise the 7 year old mug shot the News has been running during this whole fiasco.
I am eagerly awaiting Sanford PD’s response to this video, because if it’s legit, they are up a creek.
mark
@Raven: i feel like if you post ‘important’ things — things that should be reposted on the FP — in a non-designated “open thread” that FPers that could take notice seem to skim, ignore, or not read comments all that well in these ‘non OT’ threads. not to mention the discussion, and users, of Pet Posts are not the liveliest bunch of BJers on things like injustice.
Raven
@mark: Say what? BJ is BJ.
mark
@Anya:
LGF has more now:
Anya
@handy: We don’t know that for sure, but ABC identified it as such. Here a more recent picture of Zimmerman.
handy
@mark:
Duly noted. This whole thing stinks.
Raven
ok open thread open
mark
@handy: right. This shouldn’t have been left to question for the FUNERAL DIRECTOR, it should have been cleanly noted in the autopsy done by the FORENSIC SPECIALISTS.
They’ve been doing it on CSI for 20 years. Surely, no one is gonna tell me defensive/offensive injuries on a dead body is only fiction now?
but yea, in all seriousness, the whole thing stinks to high hell.
Amir Khalid
Why can’t Mitt keep his foot out of his mouth?
Anya
@mark:
It’s as though they didn’t care whether this guy was guilty of a cold blooded crime. Every single police officer who was part of this travesty should be relieved of his/her duties.
BonnyAnne
@schrodinger’s cat:
I’m so sorry to hear all this! It’s wonderful that he’s awake and lucid, but very sad that the cardiac tissue is damaged to the point that the kidneys are also suffering.
I am also not a doctor, but I’ve worked on a cardiac floor long enough to be sadly familiar with this scenario. If it’s still feeling overwhelming and you’re getting too much jargon and technical details, you might try asking your nurse for a good chat sometime when things settle down (usually evenings are calmest, after 8 pm when everyone goes to sleep)
schrodinger's cat
@piratedan: Thanks PirateDan, the worst part is that all this is happening thousands of miles away and I can’t be there for my husband, since I am here in Massachusetts.
Steve in DC
Police fucking up investigations is sadly all too common. I hate to say this, but most police departments outside of major cities are usual yokels and often white trash. These people often can’t tie their fucking shoes on. Major metropolitan areas have their own police issues (they are competent but often crooked as fuck) but they are less prone to utterly fuck something up.
The feds are involved now and for all their issues they are competent.
It also seems a LOT of this was the DA. I dunno how many of you have been through the legal system but DA’s do not like taking cases they can’t win. Losses are bad for them. If they think it won’t stand they’ll let it fly. We were droping stencils and bombing (street art and graffiti) and pretty much got caught red handed. We booked, they had our prints, plus a pretty good cause to assume we were the ones that cut the locks to get in. But as our faces could not be seen on camera because we wore things to hide them, and just shut up, it got tossed, not worth the hassle.
It seems that DA’s just aren’t pushing cases invovling shootings because of the SYG law and how much it allows.
DA’s don’t like losing, period.
schrodinger's cat
@BonnyAnne: Thanks BonnyAnne, I will pass this along. Sister-in-Law is a pathologist, and she has been the go-between the family and the doctors. I am sure it is still pretty overwhelming.
curiousleo
That is one happy looking pup.
BonnyAnne
@schrodinger’s cat:
it’s even harder when you can’t be there in person! Makes a hard situation feel even harder.

There are always options, some more palatable and some scarier-sounding than others. Hopefully you will all get plenty of time to process the options, and get all your questions answered in a way that actually makes sense. All my sympathies!
curiousleo
My earlier comment is in moderation b/c I can’t type my email address properly. I’m an idiot.
Love that pic of the pup. He looks so happy. Well done to the folks who saved him.
TaMara (BHF)
I posted to my facebook page. Lots of family in that area.

What a gorgeous creature. For a split second, I thought Ibizan Hound and had my fingers already to dial someone I know who courses them. Gol dang it. Not that a pit wouldn’t course, it probably would, hers is just not the best home for Wiley. doG speed you to a forever home, Mr. Wiley. It’s clear you have more love to give than you know what to do with. There is surely someone out there who needs you.
atlasfugged
Look at that face! If I didn’t already have my hands full with the one I’ve got and if I lived anywhere near Cleveland, I’d snatch this little guy up.
