Our Lady on the Street
By John Cole March 7th, 2012
Covers Super Tuesday:
She’s actually getting better at this. I laughed several times, particularly at the “are you saying maybe, actually, you’re not intelligent” bit…

Not funny. As usual Cole is wrong again. She kissed your ass once and now you are blind to anything and everything she does. Fool!
March 7th, 2012 at 2:31 am
You’re happy, she’s happy, so happy together.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:33 am
that was good, but the ron paul vid in the choices was unintentionally funnier.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:38 am
That was kind of good, but some of the people she interviewed made me want to slap them.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:39 am
Me too. With the happy.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:43 am
I like her. She needs to keep going. Those moments of her asking the blunt obvious followups are the best.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:52 am
@El Cid: I think so too.
the crack about college and intelligence was great.

I counted 11 states that had primaries today and yet everyone is reporting 10 states.
Is there something I missed? Is one a caucus and they aren’t counting it?
March 7th, 2012 at 2:56 am
@opie- Alaska had a caucus.
March 7th, 2012 at 3:04 am
I enjoyed this but wanted to hear a bit more follow-up. These people can be silly and foolish, but it can be good to stretch things out a bit… the boyfriend/husband in the red velour shirt – it is his opinion I most wanted to hear.
She is good, though. She knows when to make the joke, and when to play the straight man. That takes a fair bit of wits.

Okay, gamers, off-topic post. X-Com: UFO Defense (called UFO: Enemy Unknown in the UK) is being remade by Firaxis (Sid Meier’s studio, makers of Civilization). The original was made 18 years ago, and it routinely shows up near the top of lists of the greatest games ever made. Despite this, the game has never been properly recreated other than a few lame attempts.
A couple of days ago, Firaxis released a developer’s blog with copious amounts of game play video thrown in, and it looks awesome. If you were a fan of the original, or just someone who likes good strategy games, check out the video. You won’t regret it.

is this another get cole laid thread?
March 7th, 2012 at 3:19 am
I don’t like the wig she’s wearing. It doesn’t match the rest of her look. Very disheveled and sloppy, compared to the button down look she’s going for.
March 7th, 2012 at 3:31 am
@Arclite: Yeah but they seem to be dumbing it down which kind of misses the whole point of X-Com
March 7th, 2012 at 4:16 am
Meh.
March 7th, 2012 at 4:25 am
WWII Vet denied the right to vote.
March 7th, 2012 at 5:55 am
Could we at least limit Derf to one sock puppet at a time, please? I think he has at least two active right now.
March 7th, 2012 at 6:11 am
pretty good job! takes some guts to do that. don’t know who she is, however, apparently others here do
March 7th, 2012 at 6:41 am
i loved the 77 year old woman with all the cosmetic surgery who doesn’t want to pay for birth control – where was she, LA?
March 7th, 2012 at 6:43 am
I think she’s hardcore cute. Reminds me of a very intelligent person who is stuck with a southern belle situation and survives intact only by making fun of it.
Her comedy, by the way, is layered. Very nice.
March 7th, 2012 at 6:55 am
I agree that she’s good and getting better—I’ve known a few librul Southern belles, and they’re fun if you like to play with sharp objects.
March 7th, 2012 at 6:56 am
@harlana: I think they might all have been in LA? The older lady with plastic surgery did seem especially Angeleno though, as did the creep flicking his cigarette ash on her shoulder (I was wondering if he was a fellow actor?). It’s hard to choose, but I think my favorite was the older lady without the cosmetic surgery, she seemed to be earnest in her bizarre fears and I liked the juxtaposition between the cartoonish interviewer and the earnest interviewee.
Speaking of bizarre fears we have just got to do a better job selling Obamacare to people: so many low-to-medium info voters (even fairly well educated ones, with grad degrees) are terrified of something that will bring them nothing but good things. Can some superPAC out there earn its keep by blanketing the nation’s airwaves with commercials explaining how cool the ACA/Obamacare really is? People like it when they know what’s actually in it, but most of them don’t know what is in it and even when they know what is in it, they don’t know that it is Obamacare. They think, oh the ACA is good, but we have to stop that Obamacare before the death panels come for us. Its depressing & infuriating & I need some coffee :-)

@Raven: Now I’m really pissed. This needs to be headlined news everywhere. He’s the “ideal” kind of voter – a good citizen who served his country than helped build his community and now can’t vote with a VA ID. It’s a shandah. This should be wrapped around the neck of the GOP “protect against voter fraud” fools until November.
March 7th, 2012 at 7:30 am
@Raven:
Heck, he’s old and probably would have accidentally voted Democrat. He should thank the Republicans for saving him the hassle of voting in Ohio. Damned ungrateful veterans who went to war for us, who do they think they are?! Special?
Not according to the GOP.
March 7th, 2012 at 7:32 am
@Raven: Yeah and he’s a Republican. Serves him right for voting in the clowns that passed the voter ID law. I would love to know what his opinion of the voter ID law was on Monday.
March 7th, 2012 at 7:40 am
finally, cole finds himself a GF.
March 7th, 2012 at 7:44 am
@Raven: Something similar happened in WI last month except that the guy had other ID but refused to show it. He thought his VA ID should have been acceptable and was willing to be turned away from the polls as a protest. Of course, that was a primary for spring election – mostly judges and other nonpartisan offices – so it was a comparatively low cost protest.

I like Susie and her lift-up-a-rock look at Americans in their natural habitat. Needed I think.
Thanks for sharing Cole.
March 7th, 2012 at 7:50 am
@Omnes Omnibus: Right arm!
March 7th, 2012 at 7:52 am
@Raven: FWIW a judge in WI yesterday issued an injunction against the voter ID law that keeps will prevent it from being enforced during the April 3 election. Interesting world in which we live.
March 7th, 2012 at 8:00 am
I hate to ask this, but are we looking at Poe’s Law?
March 7th, 2012 at 8:05 am
@SuperHrefna: I think, to be blunt about it, that the problem people have with ObamaCare is the ‘Obama’ part, not the ‘Care’ part. The argument that may work here is that Romney is, in fact, worse than Obama since he advocates the same health-care policies as Obama, but lies about it.
March 7th, 2012 at 8:05 am
I hate to ask this, but are we looking at Poe’s Law?
March 7th, 2012 at 8:05 am
@Arclite:
Knew this. Been drooling for weeks…
March 7th, 2012 at 8:09 am
@MosesZD: I think so! I’m fairly sure she’s an actress playing a role, but I wouldn’t be astonished to find out that no, this is her daily go-out-to-meet-the-world face, either.
March 7th, 2012 at 8:53 am
Liked it.
March 7th, 2012 at 9:03 am
@harlana: If she was 77 (which I assume she is), she was lookin fine!
March 7th, 2012 at 9:15 am
She is very, very cute & I like her moxie.
I think the dude in the cowboy hat might have been an actor acting in this skit.
March 7th, 2012 at 9:17 am
“Oh, if it scares you to death, maybe you should get ObamaCare?”
Of course, the old (unintelligent) crone is on Medicare, so…
March 7th, 2012 at 10:00 am
@Suffern ACE: Thanks. I thought about that later, wondered if they didn’t count it because of that.
March 7th, 2012 at 11:05 am
Susie is funny. She oughta hang out with Colbert, that would be great.
March 7th, 2012 at 11:16 am
@MattF: Brings to mind Molly Ivins
March 7th, 2012 at 11:41 am
Am forced to root for WVU in this last-second situation because of the great, overpowering joy of getting rid of UConn.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:08 pm
I definitely like what she’s doing. She and Rick Mercer would make a good team.
March 7th, 2012 at 2:17 pm
@RedKitten: Thanks so much! I am actually going to reach out to him:)
