It’s Saul Over Now

By John Cole March 5th, 2012

Apparently the big expose Breitbart promised before his death has been released at one of the Big Morons sites, and the shocking revelation is… Obama attended a play 14 years ago that was about Saul Alinksy.

These people are unspoofable. And where the hell is the Whitey Tape?

  1. 1 Mnemosyne Says:

    Don’t forget, Obama also participated in a panel discussion about Alinsky with that Islamofascistcommie Studs Terkel.

    Because, really, who isn’t terrified of Studs Terkel?

  2. 2 Soonergrunt Says:

    “It’s Saul Over Now.”
    Hahahahahaha!
    This is what Breitbart was working on when he died.
    This is his epitaph.
    Sad.

  3. 3 Mnemosyne Says:

    Also, too, you can buy a copy of the play at Amazon.com if you are so inclined. Because, you know, all the best radical America-haters have their plays published by Samuel French.

  4. 4 Soonergrunt Says:

    @Mnemosyne:

    Because, really, who isn’t terrified of Studs Terkel?

    Well, the name kicks ass.
    Funny story that Terkel liked to tell. When his book Working first came out, the artist for the cover screwed up the title, and that caused the book to sell slowly because people thought it was porn. It was supposed to be Working, by Studs Terkel. She titled the book Working Studs, by Terkel.

  5. 5 blahblah Says:

    Whitey Tape played for the Dodgers didn’t he?

  6. 6 YellowJournalism Says:

    Can’t wait for the next expose on how Obama rented The Great Dictator a few years back on VOD.

  7. 7 Rathskeller Says:

    They are really going for an impossible standard of purity, aren’t they? You cannot even consume art that touches on left-wing politics without being forever tainted by it.

  8. 8 hilzoy Says:

    I suppose I should confess right now that I once went to a performance of Boris Godunov. Also, Angels in America. So I guess I support AIDS and regicide.

    If movies count, I’m really in trouble.

  9. 9 PeakVT Says:

    I think Charles deserves a spot in the blogroll, non-mocking section.

  10. 10 ulee Says:

    I was sure Breitbart had something damning like a video of Obama screaming,”Stop raping people!” and making a total ass of himself.

  11. 11 Snark Based Reality Says:

    Guys… I have a painful confession to make. I’ll come clean before someone spills my secret for me.

    I once… read… an Ayn Rand book. Shun me now.

  12. 12 nitpicker Says:

    Oh no! I’ve watched dozens of Youtube videos of Hitler finding out about things that distress him! I never realized that meant I was a Nazi!

  13. 13 Soonergrunt Says:

    @Snark Based Reality:

    I once… read… an Ayn Rand book.

    You BASTARD!

  14. 14 sfinny Says:

    I guess I am forever barred from public service because I saw Naked Boys Singing.

  15. 15 YellowJournalism Says:

    Anyone who has attended an Ibsen play is an anti-marriage, contraceptive-using slut who needs to supply Rush Limbaugh with a sex tape.

  16. 16 rob! Says:

    I once saw a couple of minutes of a gay porno film. I guess that makes ME gay.

    Damn, I’m going to miss having sex with my gf.

  17. 17 hilzoy Says:

    I’ve seen Triumph of the Will, Casablanca, Schindler’s List, and Hogan’s Heroes. I feel so confused …

  18. 18 Mark B. Says:

    The play I’m the most ashamed of watching was a traveling production of Cats. It was truly awful, what I would have given to see the Saul Alinski play instead, at least that would have been interesting.

  19. 19 Mnemosyne Says:

    Completely OT, but G found this video that I love: Mumford & Sons realizing at the 2010 Reading Festival that the audience knows the words to their songs! The lead singer actually starts giggling, he’s so giddy.

  20. 20 Snark Based Reality Says:

    Proof that Cats was pure evil:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm5w7gHEtJI

    That song was NOT good enough to justify getting stuck in one’s head.

  21. 21 GregB Says:

    My God, what damning evidence.

    No wonder Obama sent Seal Team 6 after Breitbart.

  22. 22 Chris Says:

    In the interests of airing my own dirty laundry… I saw Twilight once.

    I challenge even Andrew Breitbart to find a greater sin than that anywhere in my history.

  23. 23 Watson Says:

  24. 24 Mark B. Says:

    @hilzoy: Ah, I recently watched Birth of a Nation, and it was pretty interesting, despite the weird pro-Klan slant. I’m really not sure what that says about me.

  25. 25 wasabi gasp Says:

    Sort of seems like Alinsky was actually his copilot.

  26. 26 wasabi gasp Says:

  27. 27 Soonergrunt Says:

    @Watson: You can’t
    Because Andrew Breitbart is still dead.

  28. 28 Mnemosyne Says:

    So, back on topic, I’m trying to narrow down the decadent bourgeois art I’ve seen over the years to just the most terrifyingly anti-American ones:

    Avenue Q, which is all about puppets and Gary Coleman destroying America with sex and binge drinking. (The internet is for porn!)

    The Marriage of Figaro, which makes fun of aristocrats and the Church.

    Riverdance, where a bunch of drunken micks try to pass themselves off as Real Americans.

    We’re hoping to get tickets to Book of Mormon when it comes to LA, but so is three-quarters of the adult population, so it could get ugly.

  29. 29 blahblah Says:

    @Mark B.: You have to watch an episode of a Tyler Perry show for each actor you saw in blackface otherwise you’re a racist. That’s the rule.

  30. 30 Mary G Says:

    I saw “War Horse,” now am I guilty of cruelty to animals?

  31. 31 Warren Terra Says:

    Maybe if we slip to them the deep, dark secret that as a young college graduate Obama worked as a community organizer, using approaches influenced by Alinsky, they might bring Breitbart back to life so he can Reveal It To The World!

  32. 32 Mnemosyne Says:

    @Snark Based Reality:

    Not everyone in New York would pay to see Andrew Lloyd Weber.

  33. 33 Mnemosyne Says:

    @Mark B.:

    Griffith really did create the language and grammar of American film. Unfortunately, he did it with a film that promotes the Ku Klux Klan as heroes.

    Comparisons with The Triumph of the Will, which is a beautifully staged and photographed paen to the Nazi Party, are not inapt.

  34. 34 jl Says:

    ” where the hell is the Whitey Tape? ”

    Exclusive film of Tunch at eleven?

  35. 35 Marcellus Shale, Public Dick Says:

    well…imagine there really is a heaven, and a hell.

    now in this version, as all people do when they die, breitbart goes to heaven. he gets to look around for a bit, put his feet up, then they tell him about how in heaven they get to look down at earth and see what people are doing and why, all the dirt, knowledge is pure complete and absolute.

    breitbart, natch checks on obama and a few thousand others, he gets to see everything. everything. then he realizes, FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK everything everyone he considered an enemy was doing that he could have used, really could have used.

    suddenly its not heaven any more for breitbart, he sent himself to hell.

  36. 36 Shadow's Mom Says:

    I had an exchange with Sarah Goldstein on Twitter yesterday:

    Sarah C. Goldstein ‏ @sarahcgoldstein

    Sarah C. Goldstein ‏ @sarahcgoldstein
    @ShadowsMomCA I asked democrats to come join us. We would love to debate you.

    So, the new Breitbart.com is open for business and they would love to debate with progressive democrats. Perhaps they could explain how this major announcement impacts the administration

  43. 43 Merp Says:

    Obama also appeared on a local PBS show called Check Please when he was a state senator. The premise of the show was four people from all walks of life would each choose a restaurant, all four would go to each restaurant, and would talk about each of them on the air with the host. As far as restaurant review shows go it was ok.

    AND WHAT RESTAURANT DO YOU THINK COMRADE BARACK CHOSE. That’s right. A cajun restaurant. Those people are barely white. Plus it was on the South Side, where poor people live. (Well, Hyde Park. Still it’s a lot closer to poor people than any decent person should choose to congregate). And – you won’t believe this – during the show he praised the “johnny cakes” the restaurant made: unleavened biscuits given in lieu of bread.

    DAMMIT OBAMA AMERICA WAS BUILT ON YEAST.

  44. 44 David Koch Says:

    Word on the street is Obama once attend a production of “Fiddler on the Roof”.

    Which makes him our first Jewish President.

    Seen Hamlet and MacBeth – and Kirosawa’s ‘take’ on the latter, Throne of Blood – a couple of times each. Guess that makes me a Danish prince, a Scottish King, and a Japanese daimyo.

  46. 46 Citizen_X Says:

    I saw Suicidal Tendencies doing I Shot Reagan, so, um…

  47. 47 Villago Delenda Est Says:

    @Anoniminous:

    Seen Hamlet and MacBeth the Scottish Play

    Fixed that for you.

    BTW, I saw Richard Harris playing Arthur in Camelot in London 30 years ago. Does this make me a monarchist?

  48. 48 Baron Jrod of Keeblershire Says:

    @Villago Delenda Est: You are the once and future king!

  49. 49 zach Says:

    It’s funny that you link to Charles Johnson/LGF on this, since he was all about this conspiratorial nonsense until the moment Obama was elected when he decided to jump ship.

  50. 50 Citizen_X Says:

    @wasabi gasp:

    Sort of seems like Alinsky was actually his copilot.

    You know those bumper stickers that say “God is my co-pilot”? I saw one today that looked just like it and said “Chewie is my co-pilot.” Of course, this was in the Godless urban northeast.

    Oh wait, did I say urban northeast? I meant rural south Texas.

  54. 54 sloan Says:

    And wingnuts are going FULL SPEED AHEAD with their hate on Sandra Fluke. I read the Breitbart article and then scrolled down to the comments. The first comment (now deleted, but copied and pasted at other wingnut sites) is as follows

    I really have great sympathy for Ms. Fluke and so in order to help her out I want to urge everyone to place at least one (unused) condom in an envelope and send to her at:
    Sandra Fluke
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Washington,DC20001
    Maybe if enough of us respond she can make it through at least the next few months.

    195 likes and counting for that one! Next they’ll have wingnuts stalking her on campus, following her around Target, saying “Hi Sandra” at the bank just to intimidate her and so on. It’s a full on hate for this woman.

  55. 55 Spaghetti Lee Says:

    @sloan:

    You know, if you stripped this behavior of its political context (such as it is), it would be stalking and harassment on a criminal level. Of course, they’ll all get away with it because CONSERBATIB FREEDUM! but let’s not forget that for weeks on end, the bullies, creeps, and Spanish Inquisitors of the GOP devoted all their energy to stalking a 21-year-old undergrad.

  56. 56 sloan Says:

    @Spaghetti Lee: I have no doubt this shit has the potential to escalate. It would not surprise me one bit if some right-wing fuck ends up going too far and ends up in handcuffs.

  57. 57 Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again) Says:

    THAT’S IT?

    I was expecting something truly damning, like pics of undergrad Obama passed out, with “lightweight” writ large across his forehead by sharpie.

  58. 58 Loneoak Says:

    @David Koch:

    No wonder Obama had him killed!

    Ya’ll know that ‘assassin’ is a Muslin word, right? NEED I SAY MORE?!

  59. 59 Brachiator Says:

    @Rathskeller:

    They are really going for an impossible standard of purity, aren’t they? You cannot even consume art that touches on left-wing politics without being forever tainted by it.

    The fantasy conspiracy theory is that Obama was flown in from Kenya to get special instruction by a cabal of anti American Chicago radicals. He wasn’t just watching a play; coded messages were being exchanged.

    These people are clearly delusional. Unfortunately, their mania is intensifying. Even mocking them only makes them more furious, even though it probably isolates them from those few conservatives who can’t go for the Full Crazy.

  60. 60 patrick II Says:

    @sloan:

    I hope Ms. Fluke takes solace in the fact that how much wingnuts hate her is an indication of how effective she has been in harming their insufferable cause. Her clear exposition of the consequences of a lack of birth control options on women’s health and her subsequent grace in the face of their mindless outrage is remarkable.

    They have hated Obama and Clinton more, but she has come remarkably far in a short time.

  61. 61 Brandon Says:

    @Spaghetti Lee: Actually she’s a 30 year old woman who is a professional student in law attending Georgetown University Law Center. The “coed” business was a smear to demean her personally. It’s sad quickly this lie has spread and how much it has distorted the reaction to her testimony and the reaction to the reaction to her testimony.

  62. 62 murakami Says:

    Apparently the Illinois state senator really liked the Dixie Kitchen.

    Thanks to the person who mentioned this show. I’d never seen it before.

  63. 63 Brandon Says:

    @Rathskeller: By conservative standards, wouldn’t that basically include everything produced by Hollywood?

  74. 74 Schlemizel Says:

    @Soonergrunt:
    Well, you could but it would be even less appealing than when he was alive – hard to believe but its true.

  75. 75 UncommonSense Says:

    Well, this explains it.

    Breitbart died of embarrassment.

  76. 76 Schlemizel Says:

    I know the whole “We survived the Dimbartpocolyps” thing is still in rotation but really, did we ever find out what devastating thing he did to us lefties was?

    I figured it was so explosive we all have been quite dead since it happened but not recovered from the shock enough to realize we are gone. Sort of a low-rent Sixth Sense thing going on.

  77. 77 JPL Says:

    Santorum was correct in his analysis that the current President is elitist and a snob. Only those who have never been to a play should run for office.

  81. 81 Raven Says:

    Studs Terkel’s The Good War contains the story of Marine Ted Allenby, a concealed homosexual who fought in the Pacific war. Allenby found another homosexual in his regiment, who became his buddy. Allenby had a poncho with his name on it, which was stolen. On Iwo Jima on Good Friday during the fighting his buddy came across the decomposed body of a marine with Allenby’s name on the poncho. The buddy, assuming the worst, returned to the ship disconsolate. On Easter he was on deck and saw Allenby climbing over the railing. “He grabbed hold of me, hugged me, and couldn’t let go. He was crying uncontrollably.” The marines on board who witnessed these actions thought them perfectly normal and understandable. Allenby mused that this behavior if it were on the streets of San Diego would have gotten him and his buddy derided as “a couple of queers.” What his buddy felt on that Easter “has to do with the very deep emotions that men can have for each other, gay or not. Unfortunately, in our society, men aren’t supposed to show that kind of affection except under such stress as this.” Allenby, Marine and columnist for Gay Life, is a better judge of what human behavior can mean than Boswell is. Deep affection between men and expressions of love are not necessarily or even ordinarily the result of homosexuality, even if they are between homosexuals.

  88. 88 Bruce S Says:

    I don’t know that attending a play proves anyone is a communist, but it definitely proves they’re a snob. Case closed. Posthumous win for some dead guy no one will be talking about at all in 2 weeks. Obama is going to have to live with the fallout from this expose throughout the entire two terms of his Presidency.

    well….this is how conservatives think. social dominance order and right wing authority syndrome. they think they can smear Obama as a marxist by glueing alinsky onto him. it was the same thing as Rev. the interesting thing about the Rev. Wright bruhaha is that NRO and the other conservative media outlets got warned off by the conservative establishment because they were still trying to attract minority voters at that point.
    i have mails from John Derbyshire to me complaining that conservatives couldn’t talk about Rev Wright because he was black, and indeed Team McCain dictated that NRO could not talk about race at all in the 2008 election season.

    And if i was Tucker Carlson i guess i’d publish them.

    and im just really glad Breitbart died before he could get to Big Science and Big Education.
    Conservatives do have a point about education, but i fail to see what they can do to “take back academe”.
    Heres a nate silver post about voting patterns of post-baccs from 2008.
    Positive slope means the curve should be hitting 70% in 2012.
    Add that to the fact that 96% of scientists are NOT-republican, and you have a big problem.
    Who teaches in colleges?
    Post-baccs and teaching research scientists.
    The reason academe is painted blue is that there just arent candidate professors with conservative tendancy to hire.
    So even an affirmative action program that hires conservative professors, would fail.

    @Mark B.: Re: Birth of a Nation.

    I usually realize that although we may know more things more accurately than people from hundreds or thousands of years ago, our logical and mental faculties are really not that different. But to see, for example, how upset, and how much time the early church fathers spent on the length and visibility of women’s hair always brings me up short. (Yes, I know the Hasids in Israel have never advanced past that stage.)

    Another example, from 50 years ago, public swimming pools would be the death of civilization if people of all races were allowed to mix there. Now,... meh.

    What fetishes do we have that will seem quaint in 50 years, or less?

    “Who is John Galt” is now “Breitbart is Here!”
    Be Breitbart !

    A comment posted at a linked page (“a ‘Be Breitbart’ icon”) from Instaschmuck’s posting that Samara mentioned.

    Not quite as loony as Assrocket’s textual blowjob of W, lo these many years ago, but still pretty detached from reality.

    I’m waiting to see what Roy Edroso at alicublog will have to say. One of his pet peeves is the right’s mania for Correct Art, so it should be pretty damn good.

  116. 116 samara morgan Says:

    @RD: of course it is.

    @Chris:

    I challenge even Andrew Breitbart to find a greater sin than that anywhere in my history.

    I saw sex in the city movie. Hey at least it had some boobs in it.

  118. 118 Cain Says:

    @zach:

    It’s funny that you link to Charles Johnson/LGF on this, since he was all about this conspiratorial nonsense until the moment Obama was elected when he decided to jump ship.

    Change you can believe in motherfucker! :)

  119. 119 samara morgan Says:

    @samara morgan: chu now….now that i think about it, there is lotsa survey data about college grads….that is people with ONE degree.
    But what about people with a masters or higher?
    Are they nearly all liberal?

    Seminary doctorates dont count.

  121. 121 samara morgan Says:

    @Cain: that is not tru.
    Charles jumped ship at Expelled and Glenn Beck fans burning copies of Darwin.
    i remember it vividly.

  122. 122 samara morgan Says:

    @Cain: Expelled came out in April 2008 ….....way before the election.

  123. 123 SFAW Says:

    Hey at least it had some boobs in it.

    Hell, you could find them at any reichtard blog.

    Oh, you meant something else. Never mind.

  124. 124 samara morgan Says:

    @Cain: im pretty sure about the date, because that is when Insty and I officially broke up, although i was nominally a conservative until Palin was announced as VP.

  125. 125 samara morgan Says:

    how can you not adore me when Instapundit called me a “rabid asshole” and i made Reihan Salam cry?

    I know this thread is deader than a doornail, but I once saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch and really liked it so what does that say about me. Ha.
